Hi friends, This is Anuja and welcome to my venture 'Out of the Shruti Box'. This channel focuses on music and all things related to it. Due to my specialization being in Hindustani Music, a lot of videos focus on the aspect of Hindustani Music. However, I am also keen in exploring and sharing my views on various other genres and topics related to music!
Please note: I do not post videos on a regular basis. This makes the channel archival in nature.
Very well said explained Anuja.. however i feel the equivalent in carnatic music is more vakulabharanam especially when we compare to arabic music and not MMG .. just my opinion
Thanks for this vdo. I was looking up about maqams and found a very different count and classification of notes. ( as in against 7 notes, shuddha/komal notes). Do post something to help us understand better. If I understand right the Middle Eastern systems use vivadi svaras ( like in Karnatak Sangeet). Do post something on this. Thanks. 🙏
A very interesting thought to see the parallel...very useful to understand the beginnings of learning. I wonder on the approach as to what imprint, if any, should one focus on..perhaps the proportion, the boundaries for one to be compliant to the rules of the raag, the colours (emotions..bhaav) interesting thread you have started in my head 🙂
Hello ma'am..you r really amazing 💝💝..i love your explanation style..so easily your explanation gets into our mind..and so perfect your notes r..feels like spending more and more time with you..,🤗🤗
Anuja ji, I do appreciate your presentation on Raag Bhairav and Ahir Bhairav, Hindustani, Carnataki and Arabic equivalents, and especially your singing of some relatively newer songs with Arabic flavor.
I understand Anuja ji, not to put you on the spot but since you are not following Pandit Bhatkhande’s convention, you are still using the term शुद्ध instead of तिव्र at a few places in your explanation.
As Indian Muslim, I learned about the Maqams before the raags! There is 8 maqams in Quran Recitation! Hijaz in my favorite cheak Shaikh Rashid Mishary, One of the best Quran Reciter in the world
Namaste Anuja ji! Another song was I remember when listening to your movie songs examples is, the one in Raavan movie. “Behne de mujhe Behne de”. Please confirm if that song was also composed in one of the Bhairav ragas. Thank you very much for your very technical explanations of hindustani music.
