excellent video. found the armature real dirty on the contacts. cleaned the contacts and brushes, reinstalled and the motor is working again but now when i put the steps in place with the pin it'll work back up but not back down. removed the motor again, checked it and it was jammed, reinstalled it and same thing. I'll figure it out. 😂
Love your stuff! I hate the term solar generator. The power is "generated" (if you must) at the solar panels and "stored" in the unit with batteries and inverter. IMO the term solar generator is just bad grammar and contributes to the dumbing of the population. The unitized storage can be charged by any number of sources and calling them solar generators misses that point. Thanks for all the great videos, I've learned a lot from you james.
I disagree and think generator is the correct term, any other generator still needs fuel: gas, lp, diesel, steam, water, and they are still called generators if the fuel supply is empty.
We acquired a 1999 Bounder on a Freightliner. Cummins. A re-possession, it has no key to spin the ignition cylinder. . Without a key, how would you remove the cylinder to re-key or replace?
James, You have found why you should oversize your strings. You need to get enough modules in a string to get very close to the “max” voltage. You are just barely over the minimum voltage. That limits your on time big time. There are free String Calculators online that will assist you to get the best bang for the buck. You didn’t mention it, but Dirt and sand are your solar enemy. They must be occasionally cleaned. It doesn’t take much dirt to stop electrical production. I used to design utility solar where production was profit or loss for the investors. They demand profit.
I think that's why I said I broke the first rule on solar. When it comes to dirt, I have seen no affect from dusty panels after running my own test on the roof mounted system. The panel I used on the pergola are well over 20 years old and still working just not as well as the first day :)
I am currently renovating a 2006 HR Ambassador 40PLQ. We've installed new flooring, keeping the colors very close to the original. Additionally, we have no plans to cover up the beautiful cherry wood interior. Our goal is to sell it within the next year, and we want it to look as close to its original condition as possible, but with modern neutral upgrades.
What I've read on these Onan generators is they can run of propane gas or regular gas if you run a lot of stuff on it you'll need gas if your not running a whole lot you can run propane but propane you'll be sacrificing wattage there's less wattage when you run it on propane like a 1000 watt difference I have a Fleetwood bounder RV and it's hooked up to LP gas but I only need it to run AC unit and refrigerator and 2 tvs the solar system runs all the lights and can run the refrigerator runs off 12 volt battery with solar panels anyway I'm watching video to see how I can convert mine to gasoline so I can get more watts from generator
Help!! I changed the controller as the one I bought a month ago “apparently “ failed. Now the new one (PN 1800709 Kwikee) works well extending the steps but the motor is making a noise once it reaches the retract position and the noise will stop 5 seconds later. I checked the gearbox and all seems to be in order . What can be the reason? Thanks
That roller has made an indention into the plywood where it has been parked while driving and sitting. I'm sure you've figured that out. Mine has done that also. It's a 2003 Kountry star pusher that I ordered new in 2003 and have managed to never put it in the shop since day one. Its been a challenge but I'm sick that way. Most RV techs I've ran across are not as skilled or don't have the correct background to make repairs as good or careful as me it seems. Plus I don't like leaving my rig at a shop for weeks or months. You are the coolest RV tech with the best content by far. My kind of guy! Today I'm gonna replace some or all of the plywood floor under my bed slide out thanks to all your content. I may have to repair with a joint since mine has little cabinets on each side of the bed that complicate things. However there's lots of room under the bed to reinforce the joint IF thats the only way. My window seal was leaking at the top and sides but I never knew it. Thanks a million for sharing so much of your work. DS
Your a Pro brother!! I ended up putting in a "bigger" dorm type fridge in my old 1999 Lance 1030, I swear they built the truck camper around the dometic!! It did suck not have it run on propane but I did have a onboard Onan genny. Got rid of the 99 due to the black tank was falling out of it and so many soft spots. (purchased it in 2020) now have a 1997 Lance Legend 880 with a working Dometic Royale (cooling unit looks new) Picked that up this March, the 97 was garaged for 16 years when not used, solid as a rock. Anyways fantastic job!!!
As a solar nerd, I highly recommend bifacial solar panels for your upgrade. With your situation, you'll get a significant benefit from reflected light coming off the concrete below. Plus, let's be honest, looking up at the bottom of the bifacial panels is pretty cool. You should be able to get 400+ watt panels pretty easy from SanTan Solar, they're right in your neck of the woods.
I like the Viny flooring over granite. Warmer on bare or sock feet. Quieter. More forgiving if you drop something And if you ever get something that damages the floor way easier to repair than granite , but easier to damage
I was second born, and far exceeded my first born older brother for many years. However, in our latter years, my older brother is now exceeding me, and I am so happy. God is great.
I have a BougeRV mc4 disconnect tool that has prongs inline with the tool and at 90 degrees to the tool. Pretty sure the prongs at 90 degrees would work in the restricted space that you're working with.
I thought my motor was bad (brand new Penguin II). After watching your video I realized there are two fans on the motor, I inspected the inside fan and found the two screws from the manufacturer were never tightened down so the fan was rubbing on the plastic housing (very wabbly too). I tightened the screws, move the fan a 1/4 out, straightened it and bam we have AC in the front now. I also avoided having to go into the shop for warranty repair! Thanks for the great videos!👏🍻
I purchased a pallet of new "B" grade solar panels, heavily discounted, from SanTan Solar. They supposedly were blemished, but they looked perfect to me. And they perform the same as "A" grade panels. Installed them myself, so they paid for themselves in just a few years.
The issue is the white farmhouse cupboards will be out of style just as quickly as they came back into style. All it takes are a few grubby finger prints and the whole thing looks gross
They are trying to mix warm and cool colors, and it’s not working. Must replace the sofas. Cabinets painted look great compared to the wood on the dash console
0:03 If you had a purchased outback power technologies, you would have a lightning fast app that you can access via any location including your phone through the internet. Your MP PT charge controllers would not be doing what they're doing because outback. Power technologies has that solved for you. My. Entire home is powered by solar. I am grid tied and supply power to my neighbor's homes. I live in Kentucky. There are many, many storms and power outages all the time. The only power in my area that stays on 100% of the time with the outback power technology hybrid system that I built is my home. Next. Time do a little more research before you spend that type of money. Your friend in Kentucky, big Jim. 10kw.
Great summary, I always enjoy when people put the real struggles on videos (the solar connections) and when they call out the negative comments from people who couldn't possibly have any idea how sturdy your pergola solar set up is. Now I just need to set up my appointment to get my solar panels installed on my RV.
Ok James that ,,,,,,,, ' ?')// ... was ......// ( all good, (O))/ \\ you know we like to see you go Rving sometime when we are going to see you take your Rv out camping. We like to see how an Rv technician spent his recreational day off. because your always videotaping work stuff take us Camping James, for youtube sake, with the family and the Dogs.
Jim, Im sure you know but you can add extenders to the MC4 connections on bluetti unit. I understand d your point but this would resolve your connection/disconnect issue
My question is if the EP800 inverter can interact with an auto transfer switch and basically become a generator replacement for a small IT room with critical server and networking equipment? We can put rack mounted UPS systems in each rack to carry it through a brief power loss, but that only gets us about 10 minutes max. Plus, high kVA UPS systems are extremely expensive per kWh. I'm looking for something like this instead of an LP gas generator, as something that can get us a couple of days with no grid power.
I did test this on my 50amp motorhome which has a auto transfer switch and it worked flawlessly, the EP800/900 is a true UPS so it has a transfer switch built in that is crazy fast so you could be on grid continuously and then it would switch immediately if grid power was lost.
i could maybe 50 reason why i think bluetti the best out there not sure if you can sell back electric back to the grind with the ep800 ..but yea i buy some rec 470 watt panels i mean $15 a panels a good deal but thats $15k maybe more i go big out put panels maybe even bi-sided panels...i dont work for bluetti and i like james and all his streams thanks again
