Very informative and nice to have this around. I had a vet say they stopped using metacam because some studies say metacam might not be the best pain medication due to the fact that some rabbits can be more sensitive to it. We used injectable Buprenorphine from the vet and then took home oral suspension Gabapentin, which also helps with stress. The vet said he was still using Metacam/Meloxicam up until a few years ago after some more recent information came out. Just interesting, but again I appreciate all the information and especially that you constantly reiterate that people should contact/go to the vet immediately. Thank you for your time and care for bunnies. <3
I wish they would study stasis more, we just lost our 2 buns, a month apart. Didn't change their food, they've been fine these past 3 years we had them. It's so upsetting our house is so empty and we miss them so much, they were our family.
I'm sat here with a dying rabbit that's been sent home from the vets because it has GI stasis and they gave me meds. This rabbit has bloat. This came on suddenly last night and there are some super loud noises coming from his swollen belly. I'm pretty sure he might have been eating carpet. I just found a bald spot last night in the corner.
Ive watched these repetitively and have to say that Bento does the funniest things - Just like that girl that one day, by complete and total surprise, you realize you have fallen in love with.....I LOVE YOU BENTO - BTW mum, were they all female? You are missed, this must've taken a toll on you , I can only imagine how hard it was losing them, you are a special mum indeed Here are my guesses Bento M - CheeseWiz F - Hash M - Tuna F - Omlette F
Good information. I hope you dont mind me adding my experience..Some of my bunnies with stasis did have noises coming from their belly...I did not hear any noise when my bunny had bloat. My bunny died of bloat, and I too thought is was stasis and I feel so bad I didnt know the difference and I should have. IMPORTANT for people to know..Learn where your bunnies stomach is.. Most people get it wrong. Feel its underside..Its under the last rib where your bunnies elbow ends. Press it..if its hard and extended they have bloat. Learn how your bunnys belly feels now..this way you can tell the difference. For some reason bunnies want to drink when they have bloat..Remove all food, and water and don't force feed them. Its a different protocol than when they have stasis. No food! Make sure you have a rabbit savvy vet on hand..Dont wait until there's a crises..become a established patient so the vet will see you in a emergency. Rabbits surviving bloat is minimum. So if you suspect bloat or your not shore..bring your rabbit immediately to the vet..better safe than sorry. My vet gives me on hand metcam for pain and reglan to make them poop. Always keep baby simethicone gas relief, and critical care on hand and a heating pad..I find if my bunny looks at me wrong and their ears are cold..I start right away with the meds..the Critical Care food must be fed with stasis and not with bloat. Know the difference.
Work is stessful right now so I hop on here for a dose of cuteness and joy 😊. Thank you for doing these videos and letting us see a glimpse of their world.
My rabbit passed away last month, recently I’ve decided to adopt another one. Before I had a polish breed, but I’m going to be adopting a holland lop, from my research I’ve seen that lop breeds are more susceptible to ear/dental infections. Does anyone have any tips to share? I’ve researched that you can clean their ears to prevent ear infections, but what should I use to clean their ears? Cleaner, or just a Q-tip? I’ve never really had problems with ear/dental infections with my last rabbit, but i want to be prepared! Any feedback is appreciated
I lost my beloved rabbit because of that. We told the vet he makes weird poo (smaller and in weird places) and she still didn't say that it's super urgent and we waited out 2 days. It was too late then :( It is so extremely hard to forgive myself my errors and lack of knowledge in some fields, he was my first. But still, I'm a grown man and I wanted him to be happy and live until 10 at least or more. My heart is in pieces. Has anyone experienced the same? it was all so sudden...I want to express gratitude that I Had Him in my life <3 bunnies are the best
How can i reintroduce my 2 males without them hurting themselves? They were just neutered Tuesday and they are separated right now, still, but they seem so lonely, like they think that eachother is gone!
WHERE IS YOUR PEN FROM WITH PANNELS THAT HIGH WHERE YOU HAVE THE BABY BUNNYS ON THIS STREAM .....I CANT FIND ONE LIKE THIS AND IM IN THE UK ... I LOVE YOUR ANAIMAL ROOM WISH I HAD THAT MUCH SPACE FOR MORE PETS <3
I have a rabbit who is a little aggressive who had GI stasis and he looked so miserable and in pain and was not moving at all. Fed him simethicone, gave him critical care every 4 hours overnight, fed him plain electrolytes in water with some medicinal honey and he made a complete recovery in 2 days! The most amazing thing though, since then he has not once been aggressive nor nipped at me. It’s like he knows I helped him. Who knew it would take an illness to help us bond 🥲
Aww I didn't see this short was uploaded! Makes me so happy that you still have some of your bunnies, this was always the best channel :) Hope you and the babies are doing well
Question- can I clean out the nest at 3 weeks? She didn’t have a nesting box (first time mom fail and it was an oops litter). When I cleaned her cage at 1 week I left most of the nest but her whole area needs a fresh cleaning- can I take the fur and nesting materials now?
Nursing Baby rabbits always look like they are a mechnics checking on a car's breaklines. I keep expacting them to slide out and say "Whelp, here's your problem..."
Hey everybunny! I know it's been forever since I posted...I'm super busy on my Buckeye Bunny gaming channel, but I still care for my 5 bunnies. If I can make little shorts like this, I can still bring you new bunny content, just in very simple form. Let me know if you enjoy it! 😊🐇🐰
Would you say bunnies are happier in a pair or in a trio if they are all bonded? We have one buck and are thinking to get two baby sisters, but are bunnies happier in sets of two?
There's really no "one" true answer. While bunnies can be extremely happy if spayed/neutered and bonded (which should be relatively easy with two sisters who've grown up together), introducing the pair to a third will need to be a VERY slow process, and the results may not be successful. It's always best to have a backup plan with separate rooms/enclosures if bonding doesn't work in the long run.
