Thank you for this lovely tutorial. I find that I must try to make one for myself. You have made this so clear that I'm sure I can. Once again thank you.
Absolutely beautiful colors .and pattern..these would make gorgeous appliance covers ..toaster.etc..if made to fit ..thank you for making it where I can understand the patterns
Good morning Jean, I am finally catching up on your videos Jean. It is lovely to have the time again sit and watch your videos. I have had surgery done on my veins (leg) and recovering slowly. Maxwell did a great job on Sharing is Caring, he should do more Jean, Hi Maxwell 👋. Making an Orange Peel quilt is a great idea. A couple of years ago I made a project bag for my knitting using Orange Peel blocks and I still have enough scraps to make a lap quilt. Thank you Jean for bringing the idea of an Orange Peel quilt and I love the blanket stitch you used for the applique. Unfortunately my machine does not blanket stitch, it has many others features except blanket 😢. Thank you Jean for sharing and look forward to see a finished O Peel quilt quilted by a master teacher. Blessings as always to you and all the Trueloves. Thelma ❤❤
So true Jean, you don't have to be certified to save a life. It helps, but not necessary. I got my first certification at 12 in school. I babysat a lot. I've been recertified several times. My daughter has been certified since she was 16. She worked in a summer camp. We've both had to use our training, with no skin barriers. As I posted, my daughter used her training ladt week. The most important step is assessing the situation, taking control... don't just yell to call for help, you point at a person and say "You, call 911", "You, get the AED", "Who can help". Sometimes, you do the actual CPR or choking alone. That's okay if help is coming. Adrenaline will keep you going. But, it's exhausting.
Beautiful quilt but my scraps are small small and smaller lol the weather here is good we have a little obstacle till you that in the email i will send you picture of what i am working on have a great week looking forward in hearing from you
Jean, I was wondering as I was watching how it might look to appliqué a circle in the center where the where the orange peels come together making them appear to be a flower. 🌸
There are many charities that take quilts. My Church makes quilts to our local shelter, and to our sister Church in Africa. Project Linus and your local hospitals need baby quilts for the preemies. I have my daughter's quilt that someone made. It made us feel like we weren't alone in our journey. I was told I would never have children. Went through the "change" at 26 years old! I thought there was no hope for a child. One day I woke with a horrible pain, went to the doctor. I had to take a pregnancy test to get a shot for something. Imagine my surprise when the doctor said "I'm so sorry, but your pregnant". I was really pregnant. I lost 5 babies in that one pregnancy, but we were able to keep 1. They knew I wouldn't carry to term. I was sewn shut, had a bunch of steroid shots, and went into labor 3 times. They were able to stop it. My daughter was born 2 months premature. She was 3 1/2 pounds, and 17 " long. She was so healthy, after 2 weeks in the NICU, we were able to bring her home. She wasn't 4 pounds yet. All we had was a crib that fell into our lives (another story), 1 package of diapers that didn't fit, and 1 package of diapers. That's all the doctor told us to get, just in case. The hospital sent home a bunch of tiny tubes with tiny nipples, formula, and a case of frozen breast milk from the mommies in the NICU. They noticed I wasn't nursing. Nothing happened there. They wanted to get her a gift. What a wonderful gift! My daughter took 45 ccs of formula every 3 hours, without fail, but for only 15 minutes. The cups on cold medicine are 60ccs, if that brings things into perspective. My daughter took 45 ccs! She's now grown, college educated, paid by many awards and academic scholarships. She has her Master's of Fine Arts, and has had a novel published. She graduated Magna Cum Laude. She will be getting her doctorate in history at some point. I'm so proud of her. She's one of those people with an 800 year old soul. Any volunteer project at church, she would sign us up. I can't believe that tiny baby, has grown into a beautiful young lady. And she's part of a sword fighting group! They're historically accurate weapons, with different armor, shields, or no armor. All 5' of my daughter spars with each person at renaissance faires. She's a crowd favorite! I'm incredibly proud of her. 😊❤ Somehow, that quilt brought back memories of my daughter. That's how her mind works. Nothing matching, no organization, yet whatever she's working on falls into place. ❤😊
Dear Jean, what a great way to use up fabric scraps, (we all have them). It is coming together nicely. When I first saw the quilt I thought “oh no, curved seams” but thankfully not! I’m looking forward to seeing the the finished quilt. I hope you have a great week meeting new people for your convention. Love to the Trueloves 🏴
Oh you must know me by now...if it CAN be made easier, I'm all for it:) We have had a super busy week(s) leading up to our convention. The theme this year is: Declare the Good News!! The world is so FULL of bad news...it's going to be refreshing!! :) Bless you:)
Thank you Jean. I have wanted to make an orange peal quilt. I love the variety of fabrics you are using, they make an interesting palette of color. Please share as you progress. Thank you.
What a great way to use all of those scraps and I even know you will still have plenty more scraps for more projects, Thanks, Jean, for another great quilt.
Love the orange peel blocks! My mind goes to making a memory quilt using men’s cotton shirts-plaids and stripes-for the peels. I look forward to seeing how you will quilt yours when it’s time for that!
Do you know you can use used dryer sheets instead of interfacing? I iron my used dryer sheets then sew the star for my Christmas tree, slit the dryer sheet and flip it just like interfacing. No raw edge!
What a great idea for using up scraps, I love it! How wonderful that you,Ian and Maxwell get to be greeters! What an awesome experience!!! Thanks for the distraction Jean, we’re stressed a bit over the fire here. The areas that are under suggested evacuation are about 13 miles from us. The park fire is huge, at 350,000 acres burned this evening and just 10% contained. We never thought it would get so close, it started in Chico which is over an hour from us. With the super hot weather and all the vegetation from an extra rainy winter and spring there is an abundance of fuel for it to burn. Scary times we’re living in! Our tanks are full of gas and our go bags ready. ❤❤❤
Oh Sondra, I'm thinking about you all the time!! I looked up where you live and the fires. Whew!! So close!! Hope they are being contained by now, just a bit!! Praying for you! On a happier note, we enjoyed an evening of entertainment for the delegates for the Special Convention! The caliber of talent with different brothers and sisters was Off the charts!! It made us all cry! How awesome to be in, right now, the spiritual paradise!! Just yearning for the Physical one!! Not much longer! And we are so looking forward to the convention....the GOOD NEWS!! The world is so FULL of bad news. bless you Sondra.....take care!!!
thanks Jean. Thankfully they jumped on it fast and are containing it pretty good so we’re not seeing much movement on our side of the fire. We had the scariest pyrocumulus cloud hanging just to the east of us. Those are really scary because they mean there is extreme fire burning under them. We saw those with the Carr fire in 2018 that burned a lot of homes on the west side of Redding and eight people died. I’m so happy the three of you were able to enjoy the entertainment for the delegates, what a special experience you’ll always remember! Our convention is this weekend too and our circuit overseer visit later this month so August is busy. Keeps us from dwelling on the stresses too much 🩷🩷🩷
On my COMPUTERIZED Juki I can, It has decorative stitches. I have to switch it out when I want to use my mechanical Juki, for just straight/free motion quilting
This is what I’m doing for a temperature quilt I did 4 half inch backing and made the petal up too, the backing square is the minimum temp for the day the petal is the maximum it’s coming along well 😊thanks again Jean. We have our convention Aug 23-25 enjoy the international experience
We enjoyed the Evening Entertainment last night (the 29th) for the delegates! Oh my word ~ the PRODUCTION that was put on!! It was truly awe inspiring!! :) Can't wait for the weekend for our convention: Ian was out in service this morning and then a special luncheon afterwards for the visiting brothers and sisters! It's all happening:)
Hi Jean , great idea for lining up the squares , iron all in a row , & then cut out the orange peel , crazy me was thinking could you use the pieces that are square with the hole & put fabric behind that cut out & have a reverse one .I'm sure you would have to be really careful in cutting.
