I love this recipe. I had to save it this time (my 4th time making it, but I like to reference the recipe) because it's always so hard to find! The only thing that I change is milk for the mochi instead of water. This is my favorite recipe out there so thank you so much for sharing your process!

Could I bake them instead of deep frying? Would the pastry still be flakey?

I tried this and although the recipe tastes good, the procedure is wrong. I followed the recipe and the time that this should be baked according to the video is WRONG. Nothing will happen with a temperature of 220C in just 40 min of baking. Mine was raw and did not even had a speck of burn in it. If you are going to make this using a TRADITIONAL oven with fire on top and bottom. The oven should be set to 200C only and the cheesecake be baked at 45-50 min(60 min will give you very brown top already, its your choice). This ensures burnt edges and top but not too much of it. As i said, she might have forgotten to mention that she used an oven with the fan ON as 40 min will not get you anywhere here. ALSO, it is better to use a 7 inch pan for this as using an 8 inch pan will make a thinner cheesecake as it will deflate once out of the oven. The recipe does taste good though so thank you for sharing! 🙂
