Excellent performance! As to me this is a pity the full absence of the compositions from their IMHO the best album "something magic "! ❤ Still listen to it in 2024😊 Nevertheless Thanks for sharing this video!
My very first favorite classic rock song. The soaring keyboard, the complexity of the sound tapestry, the voice, the lyrics. It truly does not get any better. Whiter Shade of Pale stands unchallenged, and this performance, so many years later, does not disappoint.
I last saw Procol Harum in summer 2014, with Carl Palmer/ ELP legacy I-95 industrial complex Aston Twp, Pa. 10 yrs ago from this post July 29, 2024. I saw PROCOL HARUM 4 times: 1991, 1994, 2012, 2014...
The upbeat tempo of the orchestra and the horns really made a huge improvement to this song from the original slow, quiet version. The Spanish-sounding horns really blow this song away.
Good bye dearest soul ,see you soon .i am simply infatuated with you and i will have before my eyes the image of your almost unearthly body and soul i see you running through a dewy flowery meadow with flowing hair i a tient black dress that highilights your femine curves Kato .Rex .Viva .,
For me one of the greatest songs ever written. This performance and the one live in Denmark ( much later) are just sublime.Still remeMber you Mrr Brooker and THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I finally got to see Procol Harum for the first time in 1991 during the Prodigal Stranger tour- I have been an ardent Procol fan since 1973. As a solo player- great band with Tim Renwick on guitar. R.I.P. GARY, miss you!
Who else can play this music with such a sound and the feeling !!!! Only Matthew !!! In Procol i had many fave musicians Gary ,BJ!!!!! ,Robin ,Chris ,Geoff ,butMatt was above all .unique sound ,musicianship , and play ,Underrated !
OMG- where has our music gone? All of these songs were written in the 60's to be re-imagined in the 90's with an orchestra. Music nowadays seems so dumbed down- so juvenile- what happened to us as a species?? Seriously- how did this happen?- are we truly getting dumber by the decade?? Wars rage across the globe and we seem to get dumber by the moment but this performance brings back some grace, some intelligence, some dignity to us all- God Bless Procol Harum.
I remember to this day seeing this song on Top of the Pop's and being a schoolboy being mesmerized..... Gary Brooker an the whole band were magnificent. It's funny how some songs take you back to a place and people who are no longer there.....my god I miss them all..!!!!!!
I was there... brilliant band, fantastic musicians... these guy's like Queen ( who I also saw live many time's )knocked it out the park .It was a privilege to sit and watch and listen to these maestro's perform a complete privilege a bit like being invited into their lives and the actual recording studio... never... never will we see their likes again.... pure gods of rock n roll... thank you for your songs... I miss you more every year.
