Thanks for refreshing my memory bank- great to see Spiddal Hill mentioned- my parents called it "Seatown West". I would have been 15 when this was made. I'm blown away by all the memories. I had a crazy dream about Swords House last night , which made me go searching for information on it. It was a great place in the 80's all the same.
Terrific! :) . Some of my happiest memories are of growing up in Longlands, Swords from the mid sixties to 1974 when I was 11 years old. I was searching the internet for photos from that period and found this! :). Any links to photos of that era anyone can share would be very much appreciated.
And they closed the Lords Mayor down a year or so ago I just found out! That pub was close to 300 yrs old! I’ve always loved Swords, it’s such a beautiful town.
I am aware he was from Donegal, but O'Donnel sites are trying to say he was from their clan. But the O'Donnels came to power only after decline of the O'Cannons in thirteenth century. He was baptised and raised in clann O'Cannon land so just wondering what Clann was the great Saint from?
Absolutely brilliant stuff and so important to have this record and footage of Swords. My parents moved to Swords in 1971 and I grew up in the years to follow in Swords so this is wonderful to see.
Absolutely brilliant video and information from Swords where I grew up in the early 80's. My memories of early 80's are faint as I was so young, so to see and learn this information is brilliant.
My father wrote about Swords in 1964. I typed alll the leaflets for him. He was Paddy O'Neill the headmaster of Cloghran School. I know copies of these should be in the library. They were left outside the Church every Sunday. He called his leaflets :The Echo.:These leaflets contained the history of Swords .
