Wow thank you for this, a colander is a great idea. I’m intro-ing my giant (mastiff sized head) and have been trying to think of good containers he can stick his head into without actually touching the tin.
Yes and sort of? We live in an area that rarely gets snow, so they pull bikes or scooters through mud more often than sleds through snow. Sora hasn't been trained to harness yet since I had foot surgery last fall.
@@CorvusMalamutes no doubt a great change in routine for them and if you do it as a club type of thing then the social sniffs and barking/howling would be exciting for them. Regardless, a good chance to stretch the legs.
A stack is what dog conformation/show dog folks call the fancy square stand that the show dogs are supposed to use in the ring. The shoulders should be over the front feet, and the hocks should be perpendicular to the ground. This helps display their structure and angulation to the judge. In this video watch how the slope of Sora's back changes from a slight slope when she is standing over her front feet to a level line when she leans back just a little bit. That small weight change can mean she wins or she doesn't! I don't like trying to mess with the dogs' feet in the ring, so I teach mine to place their feet on their own and "fix it" if they need to adjust a bit.
@@l214laus Oh yes! Handlers usually call it "bait" and use it that way. I focus more on teaching a skill and then rewarding it, and you can do it in the ring.
One would think I shouldn't need all this for simple bathing of short hair coat Labs. Well I think I do need it. My setup is getting there. Bathing dogs in a typical bathroom is not ergonomic or efficient.
From the look of those big paws of Avis and Sora , looks like plenty of growth is coming along soon 😃 Cheers from Paul in south east Australia - a balmy +37 degrees C this Saturday afternoon.
@@CorvusMalamutes Raw squash would be an appropriate treat for the dog here in south east Australia this afternoon. Autumn, or fall here and 37°C today.
Looks like good familiarisation with the horse. From the look of your trees, winter can’t be too far away? Cheers, Paul from south east Australia. Summer here now.
Now that we are well down the track, it's... sometimes fine and sometimes not. They both are a bit socially obtuse and don't take "NO" for an answer very well. Now that I have puppies again I'm getting them out with other adult dogs that have better body language to learn from, and they are MUCH better than either Shoku or Renka.
As a non dog owner now, had a pointer cross GSD (we suspected!) when I was a teen, many moons ago, your introduction videos are an eye-opener. Now, I would have thought Shoku and Renka would integrate along the lines of older dog has right of way sort of thing. Were you concerned they wouldn't get on? How confident were you of their acceptance? I should watch more of your videos and perhaps that is explained.
With malamutes it is always a concern they won't get on. Now that they are older, their dynamic is different since Renka has a LOT of her own opinions. She's usually the one to start things, primarily due to resource guarding. It's something I need to work on with her and Shoku both.
Very similar wrestling technique as for two other dogs I watch - Sherpa, and K’eyush The Stunt Dog. Those nibblers are very impressive. By the way, RU-vid popped your channel up in my suggestion feed. I was weak and opened the video. 😙
It’s annoying when the internets views a mistake. Don’t let the hounds take control of your camera lest they upload a mistake from you 😃 Fluff my life and yeet. (Last lot from K’eyush The Stunt Dog)
@@CorvusMalamutes That's why I always advise people with cold weather dogs to get cooling pads or at the very least get a fan pointed at where the dog likes to sit and/or sleep. I don't like the heat so I can only imagine how much the dogs are suffering with such fur.
