This is a split method from the main pipe. . It is likely that the efficiency of the belt closure around the pipe is less. There is a special piece for the same without the need for a permanent connection.
Some of us actually have to put ourselves in danger in order to survive in this industry. You union yankees have no idea what goes on in the rest of the country. In my neck of the woods there are only like 3 excavation companies in the whole 300 mile area and the owners are all buddies that go drinking together and the foremans are all sons of the owners. If you get fired for speaking up they will personally go after you to make sure you never get a job ever again ive seen it happen to a few guys. Guys that just wanted to feed their families and go home safe at night. But no God forbid you state the point that going down in a 21 foot deep by 6 foot wide hole is dangerous with no shoring you are finished and will never get a job in the industry again. Back in the 50s and 60s guys would be buried in deep caveins and they would leave them down in hole over night than load their bodies in the back of the dump truck and bury them somewhere far away and say the guy never showed up for work.
