I've been a high end PSA graded sports card collector for over 20 years but in mid 2021 when my 6 year old asked me if we could begin collecting Pokémon cards like daddy collects Football cards I knew everything was about to change! I then began my journey into self educating about all things Pokémon and I came to some interesting revelations. I've found a good bit of similarities and also quite a few stark differences between the hobbies of sports and Pokémon collecting. I also realized that my years of collecting cardboard might have some value and use in the Pokémon space. I'm excited to share what lessons I have learned and what input I have with the Pokémon community and I look forward to learning from this amazing group of collectors as well. I am in love with these cards. After looking through every card in existence these are in my top cards list. Pikachu delta and blastoise cracked ice do it the most for me
I love thinking about a cards journey. I bought an articuno ex and the corner was peeled up and there was cat hair under the clear layer. I knew the card was damaged when I got it so it was just a funny thing to see that hair
What Is Vintage? Vintage items are much younger than antiques. These pieces are typically defined as being at least 20 years old but less than 100 years old. The term "true vintage" is a sub-category for items that are at least 50 years old. Making me Google what is vintage… Sounds like you have some antiques Xoxo
I have that Platinum Arceus cracked ice Charizard in a PSA 10. You couldn’t pull that card from a pack. It was a blister promo. It’s impossible to find those sealed and if you do, the packaging caused silvering from rubbing for years. Happy hunting. 🔥🐉

Great video. I like this type of content. I don’t interact with the sports community but I once saw that a sports card seller had a card mislabeled on eBay. If I mislabeled a card I would appreciate someone telling me so I did my good deed for the day and let the seller know. He did not appreciate my unsolicited advice and told me where I could shove it. 😂

I'm actually happy to see the trainer sets go down. Your analysis was exactly how I've felt about it. It was just a FOMO/herd mentality situation. Now it's a very heavy bags situation for those people.
@@PikaPikaPapa thank you! Every vendor I stopped at had it priced over $800, except for one. They had it right at $800 and I didn’t even think about it. One vender had a bunch of them but over 1k and wouldn’t budge.
Why is Paldea a good set to everyone?! I don’t see it at all. Just because it’s the best S&V main set in your opinion does that mean it’s a fire set? IMO 5 or 6 Sw&sh sets trump it by milessss
I think it's the combination of some great Gen 1 Pokemon Magikarp & Raichu plus T-Tar from Gen 2 with really cool art. PLUS the most playable trainer in Iono that also happens to be EPIC art. Coupled with the fact that the Gem Rates are insanely low, like the lowest we have seen from a modern set in as long as I can remember. That's causing the single prices to go up which is driving the Booster Box prices and a lot of love for the set!!
This was my first collectacon experience but the thing that blew my mind was the amount of vendors changing prices on the fly. My friend bought a full art irida and there were multiple copies of the card underneath the stack with prices going up each copy sold.
Whoa man that's crazy!! I saw some that had some pretty aggressive pricing on'em I assumed because they wanted to haggle a bit but that was one of my takeaways from last years Con was that the "great buys" weren't falling from the sky. They were there to be had but you had to put some effort in!!
Booster Boxes have been a better buy as of late but I'm a big Pokemon Center ETB guy due to their exclusivity!! Not enough historical info on the PC ETBs (the ones with the stamped promos) but I'm a believer!! LOL
PSA 10 buy outs in the UK happening in every set now , all top chases are missing from eBay from scarlet ans violet era ,can't even collect my fav cards anymore unless I pay through the nose, only way to to beat it is to not pay the crazy prises

I do mainly sealed products so it could be good for me in the future. OR everybody is sitting on it for the future and it will flood the market in 5 years
YESSSS!!!! LOVE IT!!!! CHARLOTTE IT IS LOL I just got done putting a bow on a S&V video today and the more and more I learn about PE the more and more I fall in love with it!! It's truly a special set!!
It's just like in the actual art space, some people like Renaissance Classics and some people like Modern Pieces. Art is all in the eyes of the beholder and I love that about this hobby!!!
Any advice on making the best of a collectacon with younger kids? Brining my wife and 3 year old to NJ this summer; hoping to make some deals for myself but want to make sure they have a great time too.
You all will have a BLAST!! At 3 I'd wear the kid in a carrier.. I wouldn't stroller it if you paid me LOL!! It's also a lot less hectic later in the day and at least in Orlando day 2 was wayyyyy quieter!! My kids enjoyed day 2 so much more then day 1 and honestly so did I. No matter what you all will have a blast my friend!!

I can't believe I didn't see you cause you must've been within a couple people from me in line. I got in line around 9:50 and didn't get in till 10:30ish lol. What I noticed... A lot of vendors had the exact, same, inventory...Poncho pikachu's, vintage e-reader japanese ( not english ), alt arts.... There were very few vendors that had a unique inventory. Which I was kinda bummed about, I was excited to see a big variety of cards. I also didn't get a chance to explore as much as I wanted because it was just too dang busy. I got sick of rubbing elbows with people.
Oh man we were right there!! I think this is a really cool and really smart call out YES a lot of the inventories were cookie cutters of one another. I didn't even think of that!! Great call out my friend!!
Of course it’s going to go up🤣 the prices were much higher couple of years ago, it can go over there and higher when there is another real boom in the market + the hobby grows. If you think of investing, those are the safest bets to put you money into for the long run. Definitely better than any moonbreon that will collapse any minute now when the hype stops lmao
vintage is where the real money is to be made. with the big pokemon anniversary around the corner, and the new movie coming out its all going to pop off again and the next wave will be bigger than the last big pokemon rush.
My takeaway here is now would be the perfect time to sell your alt arts if you are in profit. I sold mine for x2 gains a couple of days ago and will be focusing on purchasing scarlet and violet sirs that have dropped significantly in price. Love your content man

So glad the PikaPikaPapa family got to go and have a blast! The two I've been two (Denver and LA) have been so fun! I definitely plan on going to another one! As a collector who enjoys both English and Japanese, its a little sad to see the sentiment be so so low for Japanese right now, but its all good. I do think appreciation for them will come back, but at healthier less bubbly level.

I've thought about it but I'd have to use other peoples pull rate info and if I don't do it myself I struggle to use it... With Trainer Gallery cards on the rise I don't understand how everyone is not talking about the Japanese set Vmax Climax. This high class set literally has 1-3 hits per pack all containing the Japanese version of every trainer gallery card from the last half of Sword and Shield. The pricing per box is a little high but definitely not where I'd consider it to be by now. When you get a chance and if you have the cash buy 1 box and thank me later. This set has it all. Extremely fun to open and really haven't started to rise in price
