Prepare for 30 seconds, but have to come up with ideas, and supporting. Not sure if it tests speaking skills or creativity. Got my CELPIP test, and the question is giving my son the advice for his first day of high school. LOL, I haven't had a kid yet.
This is very lovely but it has also taught me that the exam is more about one's analytical thinking than the actual test of the english language. It's actually a very interesting exam and i look forward to writing. It's like playing a video game
I took the test March 2024 and whilst I score well overall I was very disappointed with the scores in two areas. The centre where I sat the test was overcrowded and noisy. After sitting for such a long time I was exhausted and just could not concentrate anymore with people speaking loudly beside me. Furthermore the test felt more like a speed test to me. I have a suggestion, please provide reading passages that are more interesting. I will be retaking the test at another centre with the hope of scoring higher in the two areas I feel down in.
Part 3. Few newcomers... If it said "Most of newcomers..." or "Newcomers...", then I would like to go for the option A as an answer of this question. However, it said "Few newcomers..." and it confused me quite a lot as I thought "Few newcomers" means "almost none of newcomers". It means totally different from the first paragraph. This "Few" is kind of negative word that misled me.
The reading parts in CELPIP is extremely subjective and illogical. I got 10 with everything and 5 with Reading! That is ridiculous that people should do riddles and solve illogical questions when it goes to ONLY reading.
Hi Aswathi. How are you? Please advise regarding the Question 4. Where can i find this information about IRCC or not IRCC? If in my confirmation email is indicated test purpose: Permanent residence (PR)/Temporary residence (TR) in Canada. Does it mean that it will go to IRCC? Thank you.
the way you explain and you want test takers to demonstrate is canadian english spoken , who has finished their school in Canada , not for new arrivals nor for even entry to university . Most of courses we do not need to speak or to write. I do believe you as Celpip people or raters expecting too much . I am not agree with your way of expectations and I also have spoken to so many test takers , they’re very disappointed with your test raters.
@@mishkamishka7473 Hello! The CELPIP Test reflects the language skills needed for both professional and personal life in Canada. Our test is a preferred choice among newcomers due to its ability to accurately measure your skills as it relates to your everyday life in the Canadian context. However, we understand that different users have different preferences, and encourage you to explore all available English testing options to find the one that best suits your needs.
Listening- 12 Reading - 12 Writing- 12 Speaking - 9 Overall - 11 I spent approximately 30 hours watching different videos on the CELPIP channel. Thank you for these videos. They were really helpful.
Honestly, by having AI opportunity today, I suppose all language proficiency tests should eliminate writing skill part from their test. I myself, whenever need to correspond with my land lord or insurance company via email, explain what I want to tell them to ChatGPT or PI and ask for preparing an email ! they prepare the email in a minute or less, I check the skim the context and send it in a sec 🤷🏻♀️ so, why would I need to be prepared for writing? I can even ask AI for extra meticulous points that I hadn't considered and it really helps me
Having good writing skills remain essential even when using AI. In fact, we believe it is more important now when everyone is using AI generated generic responses. Along with grammar, the CELPIP Test is testing your critical thinking, creativity and ability to express your ideas in a way that resonates with readers, which are qualities that AI may not capture. They are unique to you. These skills make you stand out in professional settings as they highlight your thoughts and decisions. For example, at present, it's usually quite easy to distinguish between a piece of writing created by an AI bot and a human being, and if the reader senses that the writer hasn't taken the time to address them personally, they may not take the time to read the response. This is especially important when creating resumes or cover letters when applying for jobs.
Thank you Brandi. Please how do I improve my listening ability. I'm having issues with Canadian accent. Also, can one combine CELPIT Test Results just like IELT. Thank you.
Hello! The best way to improve your listening skills and get familiar with the Canadian accent is by listening to Canadian English content. We recommend starting with CBC Radio One if you are located in Canada. If you are outside of Canada, consider starting with our very own CELPIP Podcast (available wherever you listen to podcasts). You cannot combine CELPIP scores from different score reports.
The institution you are sending your scores to sets the score requirements. For instance, if you're applying for immigration, please visit IRCC's website to find out what score you need for your application to be successful.
If you haven't already, please attend our two free Speaking Pro: Target 9+ webinars on Zoom. These 2-hour sessions give you the opportunity to answer real CELPIP Test questions (from past tests) and analyze sample responses at Level 8 and 9. Hi Brandi. In the writing task videos, you advised that we should not use the same words as the question to introduce our write-up, that is, our introduction should be paraphased. I didn't notice any mention of this in the speaking tas videos. Should we paraphrase the introduction in the speaking tasks as well?
I found your explanations highly useful and practical. with no doubt what you did in 53 minutes made complex writing tasks more applicable and easier to understand. I appreciate your practical points and hints which boosted my confidence in applying them in writing task 1. Thank you for your consistent support.".
