I'm surprised some vandal hasn't 🪚 away the 3 fence bars to the right side of the gate, which I believe would then allow disability scooters to go through. 💭 🤔 ⚠But now I've said that on RU-vid I hope no one does 🪚it because then Two-Tier Starmer may prosecute 🚨🚔👮♂ me for inciting vandalism online via social media with my ❌FREE SPEECH❌!! . And with all the commotion and pressure the council are facing in regards to the coastal paths' accessibility , they may just replace the whole thing with a gate that meets the needs of mobility scooters, instead of just repairing the wooden fence time after time! 🪚🪚🪚🪚🪚🪚 🤣🤣 That all said, was good to see you out and about. And a tip for videoing on scooter.. Get a sturdy mount clamp and get yourself a Stabilising Gimbal". Will change your life. ;)
@@whiskymacable To be fair, 20 % of the people of this country voted in labour knowing that billions would be sent abroad to support the war and the feeding and housing of the immigrants. So these gates are another example of political failure placing the need of war over the needs of the 80^ of Brits who didn't vote for it. Best we grab our saws and grinders and do it ourselves. Then the council will be forced to leave it open, repair it at cost to be destroyed again, or to actually put something in properly.
There is no requirement for Squeeze Gates anywhere - they unlawfully prevent lawful users from accessing paths they're perfectly entitled to be on using assistive and adaptive technology - I'd be putting an FOI request in to the council about the barriers, mentioning the Equality Act 2010 S21 and BS 5709:2018, and see whether it gets a response, and what kind... I'm currently doing something similar with my local council, and word has it they've got their panties in a panic, because they're in the wrong...
Hats off again for detail the 1947 White Bedford flatbed parked outside a real icon of the time which probably would have been seen outside nearly every station.
Your train changes direction between Llanuwchllyn and Llys halt , train should be going left to right as it passes the halt with the white house behind (Llys Arthur )
Beautifully shot Vic, 👏. I watched in total fascination, like I had never walked the old train tracks, strange how you see things differently through a lens, 🤔. I took a dinghy out on that mill pool when I was a kid, and about a third of the signs that you passed I had made and fitted, it still all seemed new to me. A great job, 🫂. Like deployed 👍
A delightful film .A wicked act in destroying that lovely railway and depriving folk of being able to travel by stress free rail to a delightful seaside holiday. HOW WAS THIS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN??????
I look forward to seeing the Rhyl Corwen line . I have fond memories of getting my A7 Shooting Star airborne going over the humpback bridge by Rhuddlan station on day trips to Rhyl much to the alarm of motorists approaching from Rhuddlan town. I think the. Last hurrah for this line was the Wales Wanderer trips run until September 1967 going through to Corwen then to Barmouth and through to Criccieth , Afon Wen,, Caernarfon, then back on the main coast line
@@whiskymacable Thanks Vic. I really enjoyed watching this. I’d forgotten how elevated the station in Denbigh was. The station yard and sidings are now a shopping and Industrial Park.
It's a shame this line was cut, to get to Pwellheli now by train means travelling to Shrewsbury, the viaduct over into Barmouth has once again just cost millions to repair! it's a beautiful viaduct but when it's under repair the line is closed for months so it means buses and in the winter it can be treacherous, even so today it would have been a beautiful ride.
Merry Christmas to you and yours Vic. Thank you for all the enjoyment and happy memories your work has given to an old timer over the year. For a while I lost myself and faces ,voices of loved ones no longer here came back.
I traveled this line many times with my family back in the 50’s early 60’s the line was well used right up until closing. As was the line from Bala junction to Ffestiniog. The catalist for closure was the building of the dam that flooded this line. BR jumped it to claim the line was no longer viable. After this the timetable was cut so much travel was difficult and passengers dropped just enough to give them the excuse they wanted.
@@neilbaldwin592 That's so sad to hear - there was a lot of cooking the books at that time, I believe - trying to engineer things so that numbers would be down. Ditto with Beeching's so-called survey data - just one week of manual results in April. The fact that there are 10 buses per day now on that route shows how well-used it is and still would be if the railway were still there. It must've been lovely travelling on that line! Beeching, Marples et al have so much to answer for. In the summer especially I can imagine it would bring so much tourism to the stations on the route.
Just catching up with all these uploads Vic, you've definitely got quite a natural talent and creative flair for this train simulation! Anything planned for Xmas 2023? I'd love to see a Warship Class 42 diesel locomotive goods train in snowy conditions from Evercreech to Highbridge. Over to you!
I’d completely forgotten that Trevor had a station. Still being kids my elder brother and I were so excited we were already on the beach at Barmouth or hanging out of the windows.
When you take a look at an old OS map with the railways on it the line from Bangor through Caernarfon to Porthmadoc via Afon Wen junction you can see the devastation and scale of the closures caused to rural communities in this area alone.
The only thing that spoils this is that in all the years I saw it working it was pure GWR motive power 14xx engines on AUTO TRAINS. Prairies and Pannier tanks on heavier passenger trains / goods etc. I saw them in GWR and BR livery but they were all GWR loco’s. Happy days. Now 88 but memories of visiting family at Lustleigh as a boy still fresh. Pat Honey
The long shot of the train crossing Cwm Prysor viaduct brought memories of journeys with my older brother and mother . Crossing it in a snowstorm was almost like you were flying. The kindness of the station staff was shown one bitter winter evening when we were all huddled together in a compartment the door opened and the station master handed my mother an old fashioned stone hot water bottle wrapped in a grey blanket and asked her to give it to the guard when we reached Bala. Little acts of kindness. But I have always remembered with affection the people who ran the line.
Great video. This location had always fascinated me as I've often tried to picture it from my memory of seeing it when I was a young child. The foliage has made it so difficult to see what was there. Many thanks.
Thank you Vic for another great video and a trip down memory lane. The line was being used by Welsh Explorer specials which were always full of passengers up to 1967.
excellent production again, if only these lines still existed today, they would be a great tourist attraction.. i guess these were all cut by the Beaching cuts, which now means more cars on the road as there are less routes to get you to the likes of Llangollen , corwen , Bala and onto Barmouth
@@whiskymacable appologies, i did notice after i sent the message .. haha , thanks for the reply, yes ive asked to join 'Recreating Britain's Lost Routes'.. thanks again ..
Progress Report.... A 1:60ish route has been made from where this video ended, into Chirk Station, as of 2023. Work continues, as there are lots of 90 year old tree stumps to remove.
Absolutely brilliant!! I have never travelled the line but seen a number of You Tube videos of the line including one using a drone and the attention to detail of the line places and surroundings is so accurate. I know you said it was a train sim but for that level of detail - it was excellent. Thank you for sharing
I have to say this is a great recreation of the line and pretty much accurate of what the line was like, the detail is excellent, a great piece of work in parts 1&2, Thankyou for sharing.👍
