I ended up switching to OPR because 40K as a game just isn’t for me. I have only ever made it to round 3 once and after 5 or so hours I am well past being bored, tired, and ready to go home.
Legends units are still playable, that's why they are in Legends. The only difference is that they aren't in GW organised tournaments. GW organised tournaments don't use One Page Rules...

@@ThereIsOnlyWar40k I know what you mean, but I gave up my Tyranid army to play Dark Mechanicus and haven't regretted a thing. Every game is incredible and engrossing, simple and elegant, plus fast paced. My army is also well customised thanks to having a 3d printer. Highly recommended!
It's definitely sad to see. The massive swathe of space marine units that went legends at the start of this edition was crushing for me, especially when so many of the units had just received lovely plastic kits. I am very nervous about the prospect of my guard collection which will no doubt have a bunch more units moved to legends now that they have plastic heresy versions. Both my space marine and astra militarum armies have dozens of forge world models so it's pretty frustrating to consistently lose options.
I've been playing only combat patrol, and opr. Gw releases stuff unfinished, codexes are outdated from day 1, they only change pts of meta models, so they can sell other models.

The thing is, this could have been done to great success if they just made a little effort. Maybe some sisters of silence were upgraded and were inducted into the custodes. Maybe they were running out of guys faster than they could replace them, so Cawl and his goons helped to expand the scope of what being a custodian could mean. The whole "they were always here" is lazy writing at its finest, and sounds like something a 4th grader would come up with. also, this whole stunt is gonna end up being a whopping nothingburger. It's not gonna change their purpose, or their mission, or their weapons, or their abilities, or their involvement, or their relations to other factions, or anything other than a few words in a few books here and there. It does absolutely nothing to move the plot along. There was literally no purpose behind this change other than trying to pander.

Every retcon GW made always has some monetary value that goes along with it.. Squats returned because they wanted to sell Votann models. Primaris were made because they want to Re-sell marines. Necrons lore change because they wanted to sell the new models. But for female custodes? There is no model to be sold on the retcon but if you look at their biggest shareholders who are Blackrock and Vanguard Group, you will know the reason why they did it. For that sweet ESG money.
You guys are being naive when approaching this, trying to rationalize why it makes sense for female custodes to exist. GW is taking the first steps to female space marines and making 40k a more mainstream setting as it grows in popularity. It is becoming like Marvel or disney star wars. By the way, Kesh, the female custodes from the story, sounds really familiar to Rings of powers Galadriel.
@@TT09B5 It is the way things are now. Some people like it like that, and 40k is going to be for them. I accept it and I am happy for them. I will enjoy classic 40k. Nowadays good stories are found in Indie projects and older stuff.
Female Custodes are absolutely possible in the lore and I don’t have a problem with that. However gaslighting us that this isn’t a new development in the lore is insulting and just makes GW look horrible.
Male, female, considering just how involved the gene-forging for the custodes are supposed to be? Who are basically the 'missing link' between SM and Primarchs. Physically, mentally, spiritually, genetically, they are remade into Custodes. Not whatever they were before. So, I can buy there always being female Custodes... its just that nobody can tell them apart from the others unless they tell you.
