In my opinion bootlegs are not a bad thing anymore. I buy them from time to time because some movies or TV shows will never get physical releases, so you gotta depend on finding it one way or another to own it. Killers of the flower moon is available just not in the US , it has a release in Italy on 4K and Blu-ray but the Blu-ray is region blocked 4K of course is all region. Coda was also released. Only in Italy has a 4K and Blu-ray release, well worth tracking down on eBay
I'm not much of a fan of bootlegs but I do have a few. My pride and joy is Harmy's Star Wars de-specialized editions because I can't stand those atrocities that Lucas re-released in the 90s. They looks shockingly awesome for what they are.
I may have to break down and buy a bootleg of Godzilla vs Biollante. That movie has been out of print forever. Wouldn't you think the success of these recent Godzilla films would cause someone to reissue the Heisei era collection? It really grinds my gears.
Oh I love those films! I have it and like it alot there is also a similar set from Indicator Both are excellent! infact I did a video about the Criterion set, check it out I'm a big fan of Randolph Scott! top five favorite western actors.
I really enjoyed watching this one. I picked up this movie a few years ago when I was collecting as many of Tuesday Weld's films as I could find. Of course, her role is very small, but she does a good job. But the film itself is a real crowd pleaser. There are so many things Michael Douglas does that everyone wishes they could do. And the acting is terrific. The scene where he abandons his care and escapes from the massive traffic backup reminds me of the opening scene from Fellini's 8 1/2, although it's much more realistic than Fellini's surreal fantasy.
@@OldmovieMike I’m pretty sure it’s not a Sam Fuller one, all I know is it stars Susan Heyward. I looked it up and actually it’s in the Warner Bros film noir vol 5 dvd set. Sam Fuller is great too though. I still need to see the crimson kimono. Have it on blu Ray but never got around to watching
Oh I'm sorry it's a guy named Harold clurman can't say I've heard of him before, but yeah this looks great, and I don't have it, Sam fuller did something that reminds me of this one?
That’s a Great film and best performance by Douglas. I remember all the controversy about this film, now it would be tame compared to 1993. Way different times. Great video my friend
Been searching Douglas Sirk tonight because my mom let me know she was watching a favorite of hers after work tonight, Written on the Wind - I’m glad that by the time you’re reading this you probably have the BluRay! I can’t wait to check out the movie myself soon.
I love Clint movies, don't really have a preference for DVD or Blu-ray here I've kept them all, I like the variety it gives me in viewing choices thus not watching the exact same print (and experience) every time. The Eiger Sanction is actually my favorite of his and I do believe, that he did most of the still impressive stunt work himself he's really up there on those mountains and it looks awesome all the more because there's no CGI it's all real climbing. Co-star Jack Cassidy died the year later in a house fire, he made a great villain in three classic Columbo episodes including the Spielberg directed one, he's the father of actors/singers David Cassidy and Sean Cassidy. High Plains Drifter is great too, it being a Universal picture meant it made a marquee appearance in a Columbo episode too. Anyways, as for Dirty Harry Im not a fan of Warner Bros' later grading they gave the movies late on DVD and Blu-ray, one needs to find the old DVDs for the original '70s grading.
Hi Mike, Good seeing all your items arriving safely, 😆😆😆you forgot how many trades that we"ve done already 😮, think you"ll enjoy the pairing of Eli Wallach & Franco Nero in "Long live your death" even its a little silly, basically Wallach is playing Tuco again. "The Five man army" is decent action men on a mission spaghetti western, a decent release for "Django" a little different to the Arrow U.S video release with the Tarantino on Corbucci Nefflix feature included. The 88 Films Tigon releases are nicely put together, enjoy your movies friend !
Hey Mike, Glad these got to you. Wasn’t sure if you already had That Old Dirty Black Bag or not, glad you hadn’t. Just a heads up, I have removed most of my vids from my channel.
When my dad died, I got to go through all his stuff you know because that’s what you do. I found a box of belts buckles and one of them was hot. I said hot wheels and I think it was like the 30th anniversary of hot wheels, my stepdaughter has been wearing it as of late. I don’t have a lot of cars left because I’ve destroyed a lot of of them but once I do, I put in my garden to make it look like they’re racing through.
Hey, How you doing Mike?,you scored a Bigfoot, great way to Start up again..Mr Dan and Horror is influential definitely,i know what id like to find,Those trucks that look McDonald's use to give out in the happy meals, the Toyota looking one
I'm not into 4k but that edition of seven looks great Mike! Haven't seen Springfield Rifle but I love those Warner Archive collections. I'd like to see Warlock. Some some of it on True Grit channel and it looked pretty good. I remember Skin Game! I used to watch parts of it as a kid. No, it wouldn't fly today which is a shame. Clint Eastwood trying to sing? That alone is worth it, lol! Dean Martin did some good westerns my favorite still being Texas across the river. Nice haul Mike!
I recently watched Smokey and the Bandit and it was funny as it was when I was a kid but it like Cannonball Run really show there lack of plot. But that's ok. Still enjoyed it and the car is iconic and I was deeply in love with Sally Field. Hooper was good and a story about stunt people was not surprising given Hal Needham past in that field. I do have a lot of good memories about Cannonball. Oh Farrah...Whorehouse was really good too tho I was too young to see it at the time. Another one of his that I really like is The End. Very funny!
As a kid , while I didn't see a lot of his films, I knew that Cagney was known for his gangster films. But the films of his that I dad see at the time were Mr. Roberts and his appearance in the 7 little Foys. But that recent gigantic haul I git has a slew of Cagney films so I will catch up eventually.
Man Cagney was great, he did so many movies that are actually on video too, so that means there are a heck of a bunch of movies to buy lol! thanks for watching
This is the first time I've heard anyone on RU-vid mention A Midsummer Night's Dream! I picked up a DVD copy at Big Lots and it sat on the shelf for several years before I finally decided to watch it. It's really impressive, although I've never had the right kind of mind for Shakespeare. They must have spent a lot of money to make a film like that. I'm surprised it wasn't in color. I watched The Oklahoma Kid a while back during my Bogart marathon. Cool movie, mainly to see Jimmy and Bogie in a Western. I love The Roaring Twenties! Yankee Doodle Dandy is a good film. I can't find my copy of it, but I thought I had that same Warner DVD you show here. Looks like I'm delusional as always. Maybe I just rented it, but I only remember seeing it once. By the way, I like the intro music for this video.
thank you Mike as always! I thought the same thing nobody talks about that one, midsummers dream,it's one I'll come back to I'm sure, it's absolutely fascinating the work that went into creating that one, without many effects or gimmicks used today!
Hi Mike, I think when you are our age growing up in the 70s and 80s, films with car chases were the best films ever and Burt Reynolds was king. Smokey and the Bandit and Cannonball run were two of the best back then. I think the film you forgot about was White Lightning which came before Gator, excellent video buddy.
@@bushmanblu426 thanks for watching! yeah some of the first movies I really watched as a kid, were these films, I loved Semi trucks and cars for sure then, also the Dukes of Hazzard too. Oh yeah Gator is so good too! I didn't want to put too much in the video, for ppl with attention span problems lol I guess. There was a good film by Richard Pryor called Greased lighting and Kenny Rogers with Six Pack. big influences on me.
Great video Mike, loved Burt Reynolds. Hal Needham was a huge stuntman and worked on Burt’s movies in the early 70s “Gator” “White Lightning” and he was the biggest stunt guy and Hollywood and noted drinking buddy of Burt’s very good director of fun action comedy movies. I remember seeing Best little whorehouse in Texas on hbo when it debuted (my mom and her friends saw it in the movies before I was allowed to watch) the scene that still makes me laugh and I read that Dom did it to make Burt laugh was the scene stuffing his crotch with the socks, and the toupee…still makes me laugh hard.
@@tompatchak8706 I look pretty weird without a beard lol sometimes you gotta restart the beard. that's cool that Simon likes the Bandit! its a great movie and Snowman is so damn cool hahaha
I always liked Burt Reynolds, although I haven't seen a lot of his films. The first time I remember seeing him was on the TV show Gunsmoke, where he played a half Indian-half White character named Quint Asper. He was a good actor in that show, and I remember seeing him in other TV shows through the years. Smokey and the Bandit and Hooper were both good, enjoyable films, but I never saw Cannonball Run and I was never a fan of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The best thing he ever did, INMO, was Deliverance, a true classic.
