Great video, Mike, and I love the t-shirt! The Criterion Collection must have run out of Italian/French/Japanese classics, so they started getting into horror films, action films and John Waters films. They seem to become more eclectic every year. I predict a Beach Party box set one day!!
I have all three of these. Need to revisit all three especially the Criterion DVD ones. That Armageddon Laser Disc is sweet. I wish they would do a Blu-Ray release of The Rock. Such a good movie and they'd do a great job with it. I think you're thinking of Don Simpson who collaborated with Jerry Bruckheimer. Don Simpson / Jerry Bruckheimer Productions. He passed away in 1996. Bruckheimer is still alive from what I can tell.
It's not that shocking once you realize Robocop and all the Showa Era Godzilla films made it into the Criterion Collection. There are some strange selections in the Criterion library.
