This was wild (literally) to see someone do this in my favourite Pokémon game along with Emerald And Crystal, Fire Red With A Ditto. I remember doing this run and, it took me about 2 days and a half to finish. It was painful but, interesting how Ditto can be so bad.
This run was definitely interesting, even if it was a bit soul-draining haha. Unique way to play the game and it's kinda funny how much easier a trainer like Lorelei, one of the tougher trainers in the game typically, was easier than about 80% of the game!
Great video! Maybe it'd be better for double features to spend more time comparing the two mons? Identifying the ways in which theyre similar and the ways in which they differ is the most interesting part imo. In particular not interleaving the footage makes it feel a little like just watching two vids in a row
I have a finished run on the backlog where I let the Pokemon evolve. It's a little different from the Invasive Species format but it was pretty fun! Later on in this series I'll be doing runs with the middle & final evolutions of the starters too :)
Two of my favorite gen 3 mons. They're even pretty nice in modern gens, with access to Prankster, paired with Encore and Thunder Wave. I usually name my Volbeats "The Warrior", in reference to the song "A Warrior's Call" by the band Volbeat.
Articuno's my dude! Wish he'd gotten first place, but glad he at least got second. Ice/Flying might not be a great type, but Arti's got great bulk to make up for it.
I think Youngster Joey was right, Rattata is the strongest Pokemon. Loved this one, seeing the little guy tear through the elite four was incredibly satisfying.
I didn't watch the video but hope your brother has a good birthday. I'll also wish him a birthday again when I watch later. If I don't wish him a birthday it's because I forgot to watch.
Hope you enjoyed this fun little run! I have a couple of pretty funny voiceover flubs later in the run because I'm a big brain smart RU-vidr who never messes up during the creation process! /s That's what happens when you have a backlog and multiple runs just kinda bleed over in your mind :P
That's true from Emerald onward. Fire Red/Leaf Green & especially Ruby/Sapphire's pickup lists aren't restricted by level; the latter is hilariously broken since in Ruby/Sapphire you can get stuff like Full Restores & Ultra Balls the moment you have a Pickup mon :)
I guess it is invasive because you can only get them in the safari zone in Hoenn, which is weird to me because there are a few trainers throughout Hoenn that use a Pikachu but the player is locked out of it until you have 5/6 badges
I loved the fact Oak just said "I know, I will give you the Pokémon I caught earlier." Gives Articuno like is no big deal. Congrats On the Milestone though Razador. Been really enjoying your content when I need something Pokémon related to watch and your commentary is top notch. Keep up the good work man. 👍
Oak got all the luck with those Pokeballs. 0.4% chance to catch a legendary at full health with a standard Pokeball! Glad you enjoyed and thanks for the support!
Heya everyone! Real quick in Articuno run at the start you'll see that I overwrite an old save. At the time I didn't realize that I had put the text speed to slow instead of fast so after I saved I just restarted. Relevant 'cause I said that I used the first mon I got from the Pokeball and that's true, but I forgot to address this little tidbit during the voiceover :) I didn't like the time waste, so I just reset before even going to Oak's lab.
Did you consider a light ball for pikachu? I did dip out at the beginning to make popcorn so i may have missed you deciding on a held item.. i seen a sitrus berry and im like wait? He's missing out on some DPT without it..
Light Ball's not off the menu and I was considering it. Decided not to in the end since catching Wild Pikachu in the Safari Zone would've been a bit of a time sink. I believe it's a 5% chance for a wild Pikachu there to be holding a Light Ball. But then after this run I was like, "I could've just saved and kept resetting if I spent too much time at the Safari Zone." In hindsight I would've taken the time to get one cause 5% isn't the worst odds. Though speaking of held items, that just reminded me that the Castform at the Weather Institute comes with a Mystic Water. That could've also been useful for Pikachu and will be for any water mons going forward :P
You should put the number of attempts/deaths/resets on the screen too and probably shouldn’t speak ahead of what’s about to happened because that kinda ruins the suspense of the next action on screen. But this was an amazing video keep it up!
I really like quirky challenges like this. Maybe try Rhyhorn with only special attacks sometime. (I picked him because he has a decent special movepool, though I admit I'm not certain on his exact gen 3 set)
