Considering this review was done 4 years ago, It's very tough for me to remember to be exact. I bought the instrument used at the time, but I no longer own it. I want to say I did change the strings out right before I filmed this video, but not 100% certain. Hope that answers your question. :)
Can you leave straps/wireless packs attached when in transit? I have an Enki (which is actually cheaper) and since it is rectangular it has space to store straps and such
You can leave the strap on the guitar, but there’s really not much room for anything else on the gator. I will say if you want the best case for the money that offers a lot more space and overall quality, definitely look into the Quantum Industries case. I got the triple case instead and it was absolutely worth the investment. 🎸
Really enjoyed your video. I love these guitars too; so much in fact, I own 2 of them now. Earlier this year my local Guitar Center had the white one on sale for $600 and i had some old gear i traded in, and walked out the door with it for around $350. Then recently they had another sale on these for $499, brand new. Are you kidding me? So yeah, i just bought another one in the purple color, to add to my collection. Schecter really did a great job with these, just awesome guitars for the price.
@@AnthonyDiFiglioOfficial I actually double checked what I was looking at, it was a JS Series and I found a similar X Series for not much more. Definitely gonna check it out lol
Thank you SO much for your honest review, Anthony! This was extremely insightful. Just a note, that bungie is really meant to keep guitars from accidentally falling out when the vault is being used as a guitar rack, due to the lid being removed to permit guitar swaps. We appreciate your feedback. Cheers!
If you are gonna record with a phone - set the phone where the string noise is not picked up, pointed at the speaker with you off to the side or something. . Clackity-clack makes it really hard to tell what the pedal actually sounds like.
@@AnthonyDiFiglioOfficial Just skip the gotdamn phone recording setup altogether bro, it sounded fucking awful honestly. You would be better off recording with any old Zoom or TASCAM handheld recorder, which are stereo, perhaps 2-3 feet away from your cabinet, which should give you a decent enough room sound, if that is what you were going for Or just use a single SM-57 or a copy of that mic. Ola Englund has an old video showing about 5 good placements for mic'ing a cab that sound great for Metal. If you are not using real guitar speakers or cabs, just record direct into your interface with some good IR's (Ola Englund, The Other John Browne, & Resington have some great free ones) ! \m/ Also, there is a massive difference in volume between your speaking voice and your intro music, you should balance that out in the future!
@@lunarisalpha I mean their earliest work will always be their Most memorable, but honestly I love their newest stuff too. Dream Theater is my favorite band so I love all their albums 🙂
@@AnthonyDiFiglioOfficial I understand. I discovered DT during my first years in High School: 1994. I know what you mean. DT are a great band, but nowadays I prefer different kind of music. On october 2024 DT Will come in Italy to play. I'll go😀
@@lunarisalpha that’s awesome you discovered them in the 90s, I wasn’t even around until 1997 😂😂, but yeah I saw they announced their European tour. Super cool that you’re going to see them. Definitely let me know how it goes when you go! I’ve seen DT many times with Mangini, but not with Portnoy.
Thanks for the review, Anthony! Nitpicking on the "cons", though. These Les Paul Custom Prophecy Plus guitars are amazing instruments with very unique modifications, while still maintaining a classic look. Zero complaints about the one I own~ and I've played on many a Gibson. The Prophecy rocks! 😎
I’ve got the same guitar, in same colour and year. I consider it a wonderful guitar, made with accuracy and with a great sound. The neck is comfortable and 24 frets helps in a lot of situations. Cheers from Italy.
Buongiorno 😁 That’s awesome! Super Happy for you! Greetings from the US. My ancestry comes from Italy so it’s very cool to witness you checking out the content. A presto 👍
@@lunarisalpha indeed! A lot of them are definitely in America 😂. I appreciate the kind words and support! Thanks so much! I returned the favor by subbing to you as well! I’ll be sure to check out your content too. 💯👍🔥
Hello and thank you for this video :) I just bought the guitar and still need to replace the strings. I have a problem with the volume knob ; too close to the bridge pickup. I'll have to get use to it as well as the 8 strings but I think it might be a pain in the neck for some ;) Anyway, cool review ! Keep it up !
I bought it used. Compared to dimarzio humbuckers. The ibanez pickups lacked alot in comparison. The string was awfully high. Action was high. I spent time on doing intonation and it needed alot... Alsow the Googling on related issues. Alot of the same. The chair should be moved 1-2mm more back or different chair. Some cut the screws. Its recommended to swap the chiar pickup to a dimarzio one. Cost 150.
Yeah it definitely wasn't setup the best. That is for sure. I bet this thing would be spectacular if a luthier were to improve the fretwork and with upgraded pickups. I love Dimarzios!
Man I bought the PRS SE Standard that has similar pickups to these, I switched out the bridge pickup to the Dimarzio Super Distortion. A choice I am really happy with, I can really recommend that pickup for this guitar, it transforms it. I am going to keep the neck pickup until I find something that might work good with the new bridge pickup. But the Dimarzio Super Distortion is much hotter than these standard pickups , you get much nicer and higher/more noticable harmonics with the Dimarzio than you get with the originals like in this video. They are not hot enough you can hear that. For this kind of music and honestly for most metal music, you should really change at least the bridge pickup on this guitar, thank me later 🤘
Exactly my thoughts. We need les pauls with 24 SS frets and in 7 string configuration as an option. That’d be amazing if they could just pull it off and do it. 👍💯
@@AnthonyDiFiglioOfficial I'm I'm 100% with you, dude. Why does Gibson almost never want to put at least 24 frets on it? If they did that, they will gain a lot of new clients and stay updated.
@@LuisCarlos-oo9im exactly my thoughts. I get tradition is important but They would certainly move on with modern specs and have a better evolution if they upped their QC more too. Tbh, I prefer Epiphone’s higher end stuff to Gibson’s lower end guitars. Epiphone has honestly evolved more than Gibson and they’re better than they were 10 years ago lol.
@@AnthonyDiFiglioOfficial Exactly dude, what I'm thinking (And a lot of guitarists too) is that Gibson aren't aiming for being a good guitar brand, they're aiming for be the "Apple" of the guitar world, selling life style status merch. Look at PRS, they have all the tradition in the veins but also they have really updated guitar models. And about the QC, well that's a really yikes for a brand with the fame for sealing juniors, faded and even epiphone guitar at the price of a standard or even a custom, that re-force my idea for what they ain't a guitar brand anymore, they're an Apple wannabe now.
Been watching a bunch of reviews on this guitar seeing its one of the cheapest 8 strings to get, was interested in one for a bit and you and couple others definitely sold me on this , I'm hopefully expecting this to arrive in a couple of weeks , my 1st ever 8 string 😊 ( i also ordered my first ever 7 string too, a Jackson Dinky, believe it was JS227 or something like that and soon in a couple days ill be ordering my first 5 string bass lol an Ibanez.) Going all in this holiday on some of the heavier songs that i wanted to learn for a while like Korn Meshuggah etc lol. Can't wait till all 3 of these arrive. You're playing was awesome btw , that riff on Demiurge by Meshuggah that you played in the beginning of the demo is what definitely sold me on this , sounded nearly like the record. I'm planning that to be one of the first songs that i learn on an 8 string guitar
I’ll just say I tried one at a music store, and it was very neglected. I love prs stuff, and that one was just dead. They never changed the strings, and the neck was just a bit bowed. I have friends that work at musical stores, and they would say don’t buy this one…. It’s cheap and another cheaper prs is available. they changed strings a lot(supposedly) But this one felt a way.. it sounds cool, but man it was abused lol. But every time I went to it just dead strings…. For me it was played a lot, and it was a great guitar, but the store didn’t keep up with it. And that’s happened to me with another prs guitars, I should’ve bought it! This is one, another was like a kinda baritone I think I forgot the name, but sig also…. And man I mis that neck on my hands.😢 if you like it and you know the hardware is good and a bowed neck can be fixed, if it feels good buy it. Lol
