Lets say someone legally buys a double barrel in Europe, walks into a school and manages to kill 15 people. Something which isnt practically hard, its actually pretty simple. This states that with the proper knowledge, a weapon can be made to be reactivated. With that knowledge, you also don't need to get a deactivated gun. It's not that hard to build a gun. If you have the will to kill, there is always a way. Stripping people of their rights is the heavy handed approach. I guarantee it will lead to the suppression of knowledge if they want to prevent death by firearms in all cases. One by one, all rights will be removed

I now know that they properly ruin them and even weld bits into the receivers just to make sure nobody gets any ideas, and yeah like you said other places might be more lax. Im sure though if you brought some deactivated firearms into the us, specially AK's due to the demand for decent ak's (our import laws are ridiculous) someone would probably find a way to salvage something out of them, if anything at least the selector markings lol.
