After the terrorist attacks in Paris, the European Union issued stricter guidelines for firearms. Also for "deactivated" weapons, weapons that have been deactivated and may be sold freely. Terrorists (including those from Paris) have in the past succeeded in making such weapons active again. Tom Van de Weghe, journalist for the Belgian public news broadcaster VRT, started an investigation and travelled to Slovakia, where various terrorists bought such weapons. Broadcasted on TV and online on March 23 2017. English translation in Closed Captions.

There are plenty of guns floating around illegally that aren't deactivated, this is an irrelevant concern. The guns used in the Paris massacre weren't deactivated anyway, they were blank firers that were converted from original AK's but were easily converted back by changing the barrel.

This video is after the shooting in which someone used “deactivated” AKs from Slovakia and made them work again, the “deactivated” AKs were infact once live firing converted to acoustic/blank firing, but because the media made it seem like they were deactivated politicians just got stricter rules for deactivated weapons to make them less desirable to collectors, this is how you’ve just created a new black market for old spec deactivated weapons

This states that with the proper knowledge, a weapon can be made to be reactivated. With that knowledge, you also don't need to get a deactivated gun. It's not that hard to build a gun. If you have the will to kill, there is always a way. Stripping people of their rights is the heavy handed approach. I guarantee it will lead to the suppression of knowledge if they want to prevent death by firearms in all cases. One by one, all rights will be removed

Strip parts from deactivated Ak(Rivets), muzzle, front sight, gas tube, gas block, Fromt Trunnion, rear trunnion, and build from a new receiver, Fire control group, barrel, bolt, bolt carrier. Make sure to drill a hole for the gas tube for that good ole semi auto

The trunuion can easily be drilled through to free it it wont damage it i know some people skeletonize their trunnions to reduce weight textbook speaking if the ak has a welded bolt trigger and barrel all you would need is to remove the welds and make it fully strippable place a new barrel a new full bolt/firing pin with a working gas piston and the weapon is ready to go, newer versions that have parrs of the reciever shaved of are pretty much irreparable

You would need to re-buy all the important pieces and tools to put it back together they make it seem like it’s easy but it’s not difficulty rating nine out of 10 but the whole point of a deactivated firearm is to hang it on your wall I would love to have one hanging on mine I watched red Dawn when I was a kid and the collapse of the Soviet Union if we forget the past we’re only bound to repeat it in the future

@@Givi03 Yeah when I typed that comment I wasn't as educated on european deact laws. I now know that they properly ruin them and even weld bits into the receivers just to make sure nobody gets any ideas, and yeah like you said other places might be more lax. Im sure though if you brought some deactivated firearms into the us, specially AK's due to the demand for decent ak's (our import laws are ridiculous) someone would probably find a way to salvage something out of them, if anything at least the selector markings lol.
