As a fan of Open Sea wallet designs (especially the 50/50, Houbei & Top Sider) I really like your version here. I'm in the market for a wallet after not having one for a few decades now. Your design is the only one I found that's a legit contender next to OSL Co. Great job! I'd like to see your version of the 50/50. My ideal wallet has the flap fold over design like this one, but also has a slim very slim side profile. When it comes time for me to pull the trigger, it's going to be a very tough decision. Can you customize your wallets based on reasonable customer requests?
Thank you for your comments. Glad you like my designs. No, I don't do special customizations because they take a lot more work that at the end it is not worth it in terms of time and value for my work. I used to do this, but I quickly learn that it is not worth the extra stress and work. Hopefully you still find something that fits your style on my website though 🙏🏻
@@PateplumaCo. Understood. No worries. When I say customization, I mean something minor, like a thumb hole slide on an exterior quick draw card holder.
Okay Kervin, now you've done it! Norbert , here. Just when I thought my Zela 2.0 was perfect you've produced the Utila 2.0. You may remember initially I considered the Utila 1.0 but, like some customers didn't like the fact that the edges of the bills would stick out unless you tucked the flap over the bill instead of inside the pocket. But, as you know, I prefer my bills to be accessible like a traditional bifold rather than being folded in half. But I reasoned that I don't use bills as often as cards and the front and back compartments of the Zela are perfect for a total of 4 of my usual 8 cards to retrieve without needing to unsnap. So with Utila 2.0 the rear compartment functions, I think even more easily than the front or rear of the Zela, push the card out! 2 cards in the back. So with the slot I think you should be able to put 2 cards in the slot and it functions as easily as the Zela. But now bills can be placed in a horizontal position that permits me to pick out what I need without having to expose all of the bills which you have to do when you withdraw folded bills from the Zela bill compartment. I agree that with the dimensions of Utila 2.0 being .47" wider than the Zela, it might be better suited for the back pocket, but I think given that it is .27' shorter than the Zela the extra width doesn't eliminate it's use as a front pocket wallet. The 2mm extra thickness translates to .078" so essentially not much if any, of a difference. I think your design upgrades are very well thought out and practical. The Utila was never a totally minimalist wallet but its total functionality makes it a worth classifying it as a big minimalist wallet. Great job. 👍
Norbert, I believe, if I remember correctly, the updated Utila 2.0 had as goal #1 to cover the bills better, as a result of your comment in the past. It is important to give constructive feedback and you do this very well. Thank you for your feedback, your time, and for being part of the Patepluma family 😊
I was intrigued by the Utila before, but I didn't think I'd like the bills sticking out the front side when put in the bill compartment, so I didn't seriously consider one. This 2.0 version definitely looks like a better overall design to me, and I think there might be one for me in the future when I'm ready to buy more wallets. Very nice!
Nice Video! The Utila 2.0 seems like an upgrade in everyway! Can you show in a future video if the Utila 2.0 Mini can hold U.S. Bills Vertically with the flap exactly like you showed for the standard size one? I want to see how U.S. Bills would looked tucked that way. Thank you in advance and keep up with the good designs and showcase vids!
Thank you. Glad you like the upgraded design. To answer your question, no, the Utila Mini would not be able to accommodate USDs standing vertically. The design of the Mini is more with cards in mind than bills. So unfortunately, it is not wide enough for bills standing vertically. USDs will fit when folded in half when in the cash compartment though. Hope you find this helpful :)
Thank you! Glad you approve. Do you mean the snap closure button? These are the best in the market, very solid. PLUS, Patepluma wallets come with life warranty. If that button breaks 5 years from now or more, send your wallet back to me and I will replace it no questions ask :)
@@PateplumaCo.I’m more concerned about scratching other things in my pocket. I love the look but don’t trust that I’d keep things out of the same pocket that might get scratched.
@@rson451 Anytime you put things in the same pocket they are bound to collide especially when moving around….I myself carry a Utila wallet in one pocket and anything like my phone or a nice pocket knife I carry in opposite pocket or a small edc bag…..The buttons on the wallet are high quality and work great….If you’re going to put something in your pocket with the wallet and you’re worried about them bumping into each other,Just turn your wallet around where the button is touching your leg and the back of the wallet is facing out👍🏻
@@rson451 I understand. I personally never scratched anything. The snaps are nicely polished. I think before you scratch something with it, instead, you might scratch the button with something else 😜
I have 2 of the First Utila wallets…..I think the new 2.0 design changes are absolutely amazing🙂👍🏻You took a huge gamble in changing the wallet and it paid off… plus you added a mini version. I will definitely be getting a full size version of the 2.0 version soon.
Hi there. First, thank you for being here. Your support means a lot :) Coming from an Utila 1.0 owner, your comments gives me a lot of hope for this new version. Glad you like it. Blessings 🙏🏻
Hi there. Thanks for the inquiry. Sure, what I can do is to add a grommet somewhere in the side of the wallet. A grommet is a metal ring fixed to the leather. With this grommet hole, you can attach anything to it. At checkout, just remind me of this and I can do it for you at no extra cost :)
Hi there. Funny enough, I tried to do this on a version when prototyping. However, I decided to go against it, so now it is not possible to put a card under the snap button. The reason: the snaping close the wallet became less stable, and the pressure of the top pieces pulled the leather upwards creating a big opening, and at the end, not really holding the cards below tight enough to be secured. The wallet does feel nice in the hand because of all the curves on each side though. And the snap opening is quick enough while keeping high security. Thanks for the message :)
I don't. I used to but Etsy is very difficult to use if you are a small business. They don't show your business unless you pay for their ads. I started with Etsy and cancelled it because it took a lot of work to maintain and very little return. But see under my video's description to see my site. Thanks for your interest.
It is not Burgundy. It is Waxed pull-up Cognac. But it does look redish indeed. The thread is red. And yes, I do have Cognac waxed pull-up in stock. Thanks for the support 🙂
Thank you for the support 🙂 It is a lovely little thing indeed. If you wish a bigger capacity, look at the regular Zela wallet. If you carry 6 cards and some bills in thirds, then the Zela Mini is perfect. Cheers.
Hi Jimmy. That is unfortunate...this wallet is my top Seller and it is the first time I hear that people cannot or does not enjoy using it. Please reach out via email and I can help you find the perfect wallet for you. I appreciate your support and your honesty, so happy to help you find a better fit :)
Kervin, this is Norbert. Your Lempira got a great review from Chrispy Things today. Chris even preferred it over his Houbei 7 Seas. He praised your dedign and especially the rear quick access slot, which he said was superior to his Houbei. Well done. You're getting more exposure here in the States.
Wow! Thanks you for letting me know. I have not yet seen the video. That is incredible because Open Sea is also an amazing wallet maker. Makes me feel humble :)
Hello, beautiful Lempira wallet. Can you tell me the specific color and leather type combination of all 3 types of leathers including the thread color you used on the first right handed model you show in this video. What is the difference between the waxed Petrol (pullup) and the Petrol (non-pullup) leathers?
Thanks for reaching out! Of course: I offer three types of leathers: 1) Buttero 2) Pueblo and 3) Waxed leathers. The pull ups are the ones saturated with oils that if you pulls them, it creates a lighter spot. The non pull-up petrol is only but doesn't create those lighter patterns, a more suttle oily leather. I only offer this one because I love the petrol look. All leathers are best quality from top Italian tanneries and as for threads: I have many colors: white, yellow, black, browns, greens, blue, dark red, beige...to give you an example. The last two photos of each product slide show on my site will show you all the types of colors for leathers and threads. Hope this helps. Best wishes :)
Hi there. It depends how much you carry, the Utila wallet could also be an alternative. In addition, I do make passport wallets. Thanks for the support :)
Hi there. I typically carry 7 cards and 3-4 bills in my Zela Mini. I think it will fit. Tight at first but it will mold to your type of carry/use overtime. It's a beautiful compact wallet; I truly love it myself. So I think you won't go wrong with it. Best wishes and thanks for the support 🙏🏻
On my Instagram saved stories and posts you can see many more photos and videos of different colors and leathers combinations for the Mini and also the regular Zela. Maybe you can look there for inspiration. I offer quite a lot of options on my website as well :)
I really like this design, but it would be better if there was a way the design could handle Yen. I'm moving to Japan soon and they still use a lot of cash there.
I think Yens could fit folded in halves of thirds. If you don't mind folding your cash, shouldn't be an issue. Some Euro bills even fit unfolded, as I demonstrate towards the end of the video. Japan is amazing, good luck with your move :)
@@PateplumaCo. Yes I know the smaller Euros fit, but Japanese currency and some other Asian currency is bigger even even folded. In the current design it might fold on top of the bills. If you happen to test that out I'd like to know. Ideally Yen folded in half would be perfect. I have others that I use with Yen folded in half since I dislike cash wraps anyway.
@@cjlafleur7585 ah, I understand. Yes, then you must have to fold the bills in thirds. Perhaps not the best option, but I do this with the biggest euro bills too. Up to 50 euro bill, no problem.
This is the perfect wallet for me. And yes girl jeans do have small pockets. My current wallet is about 2x3 inches. This looks like that size and of course more beautiful than my black Walmart wallet, especially considering I can choose the colors.
Kervin, Norbert here. Did you make the thumb slider horizontal instead of vertical because the Santa Clara is a horizontal wallet? It seems to me a vertical thumb slider might be just a bit easier to use.
Hey Norbert. Your assumtion is correct. The horizontal thumb slider was first introduced in the GreNi wallet (horizontal wallet as well), after many weeks of testing. Surprisingly, it works just fine. And the cards corners are all protected, cards more secured as well, while keeping quick access. Vertical thumb sliders are great (like in the Yohoa and La Laha wallets), but I was surprised to see how useful it is horizontally as well. And to be honest, it was a bit nostalgic because if you look back a bit, it reminds us of the old cassette tapes :). Kind regards friend!
Open Seas is amazing. You should buy their wallets too. No, I am not copying them, this wallet is extremely different in how it functions and in how its built. Believe me, I own most of their wallets. But I take it as a compliment because Open Seas is my favorite brand after mine :) Maybe you see the slope of the pockets and think of their Houbei. Fair, but that's where comparisons end in my opinion. I own both wallets and they are both very different experience. Mike at Open Seas is great though. I tell my customers that they should support him before anybody else because he has been a sort of inspiration to many of us.
@@PateplumaCo. I think you’re wallets are beautiful, and have very creative designs. I particularly love your more original wallets. But this one, with all due respect. Just looks like you moved the cross stitching from the left side of the Houbei and moved it to the bottom. That’s the only significant change. Yes the cuts may be slightly different but that doesn’t make this a completely original design. Anyways don’t waste your time replying to me, wish I could do what you do. Keep up the good work, I’ll definitely purchase a wallet from you in the future. Just a fan of good design.
@@urieladair8696 thank you 🙏🏻. Like I said, I love Open Seas so I am not offended haha. I can assure you this wallet is very different than theirs. But I can admit that the GreNi wallet was indeed inspired from their GunDeck. It's my own take on the first wallet that made me love wallets. But even so, the back is very different and the internals too. But I am not afraid to admit when a colleague inspired me. With the Lempira Wallet, you are wrong. The Houbei was never in my mind when I spent days and even weeks working on each milimiter of its design. Please follow me on Instagram for me to share photos and even videos of the behind the scenes of how this wallet is made. Very different. Cheers and happy to interact with you. Feedback, comments are always welcomed and this what I love and how I learn. My take is: get a Houbei and get a Lempira. You won't regret it 😇
I’ve been waiting for a deeper look at these wallets…..I’m going to watch this after I clean up my house🙂👍🏻Love the way this wallet looks and functions.
