Maybe if MG / Rover as here by Gerry creations went on to product variants as these, then maybe the stood a chance. Yes, the MG rebadged 25, 45 and 75 held off bankruptcy for a short time it was inevitable MG / Rover were doomed and that was a great shame .
wow what a beautiful Rover 75 convertible and so is the coupe two very good looking car's and if only Rover had the vision to put into production thouse two car's they might still be with us today and Gerry you have the vision to do just that and if you where working for them and had pushed through the two great car's they would be a run away success story and it would have given them the time to put out other new car's .
I've still got V8 OMG Aurora ZTT 190. (1 of 1) Preserved in a heated garage. The Nappa Leather Oxford cream seats are absolutely sublime. These seats were not displayed in showrooms so little wonder buyers didn't tick that option on the order form. Had they sat in them and compared them with the poverty spec seats in the majority of the ZT's then maybe more would have been ordered ?! The seats, steering wheel and gear lever are the absolute heart of a car & if I was luck enough to spec a new car I would choose the top spec of these items over any other options 👍 @Jules75ZT Rover 75ZT specialist. That roof mechanism is faster than the Mercedes SLK and just as smooth. A superb execution, worthy of Rover, the OEM. Another example of fine, very credible British automotive talent. 👍 We should never forgive or forget how Thatcher's Tories decimated Britain's industrial base, not least the inept mismanagement of our whole automotive industry. They are now a global success story, having received sustained levels of appropriate investment, Jaguar LandRover, MINI, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Unipart, ALL healthy profits finding their way back to their foreign owners, rather than contributing to Britain's public services and our "balance of Payments" Our automotive sector is contributing to the quality of life of other countries populations, rather than Britain's. Thank you shameless Tory incompetents.
Didn’t Rover go bust under the Blair government ?? Didn’t the trade unions destroy manufacturing in the UK ? Didn’t Mandelson refuse to bailout Leyland Daf ?? Happy to prop up the banks after Brown ended boom and bust!!! But brought in light touch regulation and allowed the growth of off balance sheet trading.
@@tooleyheadbang4239 yes, that was the industrial vista during another period of inept Tory incompetent governance - Pretty much as it is now, especially within the NHS. Shameless self-interest and utter disregard for the needs of the majority, such as the NHS and ALL public services. Tories facing electoral obliteration at the next General Election - when they should all be facing criminal prosecution. Tories Out, Out, Out!

Only just found this video, takes me back to the mid 80s. Had a saloon the same colour but white roof. 3litre straight 6. Most comfortable car ever. It was an early one of i recall 738 DJU. Dont think it made it 😢
rover 800 Mk2 fitments tho 🤣 one indicator goes up the other goes down hahaha... stupid rover , if rover was an animal it would be a cat, its stupid we get mad at it but in the end we love it and cant live without it 😂
Yes that was my intention though I left the P4 area at 12:43 and as there were still some arrivals I may have missed a few. For example I arrived at the 75/ZT area late in the day after several had already left.
Some lovely motors. I've just bought a Rover 75 Contemporary. Question is the club still doing shows and meets? Because there's nothing past 2019 on the website.
It did get a little quiet during '20 & '21 due to the pandemic, there's lots being organised see the events and meets forum:- www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=15
Great cars, and a good day out viewing all these beautiful Roots cars. I'm a big fan of Roots products. Thank your for a very nice video of the event. Bob
I don't think the car would have saved MGR, because they were in a very deep hole by the time they could have produced and started selling this 75 coupe. However, i believe what it could have done very well is keep the company afloat for an extended time past its demise in 2005 and given them much needed cashflow to secure a new partnership deal with another company to save MGR. You see, it was stupid mistakes like spending money on the LEmans formula one racing and building the MG Xpower sports car thing that was such a waste of resource and money when they should have just produced this Rover 75 and MG ZT coupe! They might be still here today if they did because I definitely would be first in line to order one of these beauties!! Like others have said. Even today in 2022 it looks modern and desirable. So imagine if this came to showrooms back in 2001 and onwards. Mind blown!
Thanks for watching, for your thoughts and comments. Gerry has since produced a convertible version of his coupe, well worth a view ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w1aYVHQjbgg.html
And very nice it is too, rather jealous! No I have to admit that image in the video is not one of my own it was garnered from the internet. I saw your 45 at this years Pride of Longbridge ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NYfadDvKcJQ.html and when time allows I'll be updating several, if not all, of my monogram paints videos.
You'll probably have to recover your current one, have a read of this thread might help the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=321415&highlight=headliner
hé hé, not a Rover!!! I understand you so well: she is a beautiful car! By the way I sold my 2 x 75 for a V8 4.2 S type and I don't regret it, or just the wonderful design of the rover!
@@JVChester I'm fairly sure that a near neighbour had it and sold it soon after acquiring it. I think I took a photo of it, but can't find it yet. I'll keep searching.
@@JVChester Yes, that would fit in with when I saw it. I'll keep looking in my pc. Fab cars. I have a 1995 Daimler that I bought to remind me of our Mk VII. Nice video.
I really appreciate the way you take a moment or two over most cars so that you can breathe in the goodness on each. A great video. Thanks John Vevers.
I still love the SD1.Came out when I was a car mad boy and went on to own a 3500 in the late 80,s but it drunk so much my wages even then said no.I sold it.If I had one again it would be a 2300 or 2600 straight six manual.Fun fact. The 2300,and 2600,s followed the V8,s initial production.Overall they were better option for obvious reasons.Have a bit of fun and 10 to the gallon soon gets a pain in a v8 as I found all those moons ago.Mind you 20 from a straight 6 is not much fun now either.Still love the design. The XJS came out about the same time and still love those.
salut mon ami et mille merci pour ce défilé de voiture toute plus belle que jamais et j'ai trouvé un point commun avec une P6 blanche qui comme ma 75 a un porte bagage de coffre la seul a bientôt bonjour a l'équipe
Ah, my favorite Rover motor car of all time! What I loved about the P-6 was it could be driven---and driven hard. I cannot imagine driving any P-5 hard, at least not hard as compared to the way a 2000TC or 2200TC could have been driven. But I loved the P-6 Rovers and still love them so many years after they went out of production. I've never had a strong feeling about the SD-1's on the other hand, I after the earlier Rovers---going back to the P-4's---I thought the SD-1 was "more junk from British Leyland (then going by just BL, as I recall). Thanks for this video!
Another great Rover, never owned one but drove many during the sixties and early seventies, the 3500 being my favourite. My first Rover was an '84 2600S SD1 in Moonraker Blue, it didn't seem to suffer from the issues everybody else complains about, maybe I was lucky. Since then I have owned many more Rovers including a 75 V8. Thanks for watching and for your comments.
Beautiful P-5's! I've never owned or even driven or ridden in a P-5. But I strongly suspect it was the best made Rover motor car ever produced. I have driven and owned numerous P-6 Rovers. They were superb driver's cars. Keep up the great work related to Rover cars. Thank you very much for this video! Andy McKane, Molokai, Hawaii, USA.
Thanks for your comment, I totally agree with your thoughts on the P5. Like you I've never had the pleasure of owning or even driving one but I would say a P5B Coupe is on the top of my list of classic cars I'd love to own finances allowing!
Thanks a million ..for forwarding this video ..for it brings back fond memories having owned 3 p4 and 1 p6....they excellent cars ...in their right...I do miss them...most of this cars should have their valve tappet clearance adjusted correctly and the engine would be very silent..pls do continue enjoy driving those. Cars....these cars never fails to impress . .be it be sight ....sound ..comfort ...or reliability...thanks again guys ....cheers...
