G'day,

We are Shannon and Lisa, with our daughters Jessica and Chloe and our cat Bonnie 🐾

We have travelled through every state in Australia in our vintage Winnebago motorhome, completing two whole laps of this wonderful country, whilst we home schooled our kids and grew as a family. We absolutely loved it!

We still travel part time in 'Winnie', and also love adventure motorcycle camping.

Following our laps of Aus, Shannon became a regular freelance writer for the Australian Wanderer magazine, producing articles about all things RV and Australian travel.

Guys i have spent the last two weeks binge watching all your videos, absolutley AWESOME ! i felt like one of the family! in 2015 i brought a 1979 Holden bedford Motor Home made by Franklin . i was just out side of Hobart ( went to tassy in 2012 looking for a change ) i spent most of 2015 travelling Round tasmania . 2016 jumped on the Boat went over to victoria , i stayed mostly at free camps, one to two weeks at a time if possible, never less than 3 days at a spot. retired pensioner and limited funds. Following the Sun up to Mnt Isa, stayed on the lake just out of town ( just make sure you stay at the family area at the eastern end) from Mnt Isa, slowly traveled to charters towers, just 30 klms north of Charters, There is a massive free camp, both sides of the road , one of the best comunity free camps in Aus, no water, no toilets and no phone coverage (well i did have a phone repeater amplifier, so i had phone and internet ) from Charters south inland down to Tamworth, then to Taree to Visit the Family, Then south to tassy for summer , my Favourite spot is St helens and the bay of fires, there are 4 free camps at the bay of fires, Jeaneret Beach, Swim cart Beach (right on the beach), Cosy Corner south, cosy corner north and slope Reef , all motorhome friendly, some have pit Toilets and some don't, no water, and your able to stay for 28 days at any one spot, then you must move onto one of the other camp grounds . i would do 3 mnths at a time at St Hellens. The weather at Bay of Fires in winter is very mild and due to the geography most of the bad weather goes around you. best time of year is june to end of October, off season, no body there! June and July are special months not only are there many spots right on the beach, but due to this area being close to the continetial shelf, whales come and rest up for a few days at a time, you lay in bed at night hearing the whales blow and breath, to wake up in the morning and see the whales just of the beach Amazing! water is too cold for a swim unless you have a wet suit. then you have 20 mins! white sands and crystal clear water. It's my best spot in tassy and been going there every year , except for the lock down due to covid, where i was kicked out, i found a hip camp stay at little swan port to wait out the covid look down. Due to a medical issue (Bells pausy) i went to Taree to spend time with faily in August 2022, The Old bedford was now in a bit of a state, coastal life on a rust prone english made Bedford was not too kind. A water leak had roted the timber frame in the rear wall and did i mention some rust? In June 2023 i brought a 3 motorbike trailer, and built that Chassis into a small 4 mtr long caravan , all galvanised Steel frame, and alloy sheeting ( more coastal life to come with out the rust) that was a year long project. I enjoyed Motorhome life, yet was always annoyed to have to give up a great spot midway through the 28 wday stay and never able to come back to it vacant, leaving stuff behind never helped as the new person would move it out of the way. Annoying if you have the perfect beach spot and whale views! So this time around i can leave the van and go into town to get supplies or look around in the tow rig, there is so much i havent seen. it was always hard to want to leave the views. This friday 23rd August, i start my new advertures, Taree out to broken Hill (mad max looks great, Thanks Shanon) Broken hill down to Lobethal S.A, to Visit an Amatuer radio Friend, one of my travel hobies is to talk to friends all over the world on Amatuer radio , from Lobethal its a travel down to the south coast S.A taking my Time as the boat to Tassy is booked for late Feb 2025 and of course once off the boat i plan to head to St Hellens and the bay of Fires , i so miss hearing the waves as i fall to sleep, and the whals! Then its back to Little swan port as a Base , rest up, build up the bank balance and catch up with photography friends in and around Sorell. There is also a great low cost camp At the Primrose Sands RSL $15 a night with power, ( i lived in Primerose sands for 3 years, 30 klms east of Hobart and a little west of Dunalley ) and stayed for a mnth every year after, at the RSL, the beach close bay is Amazing and you can see Dolphins most days morning and afternoon and some whales stay to give berth to there calfs not doing the northen migrationand. ocasionly you get a few Orcas, they come for the Seals that live on the island just of the beach. Primrose is a short drive away to Pirates bay and Port Arthur, Did you know, at Pirates bay on the beach you guys walked, every morning and early evening you can watch the penguins come and go? they put in white concrete domes for them to live in. I can highly recomend the Port Aurther to Pirates bay Boat cruise by Pennicottjourneys.com.au, you get to See tasman island, whales, Dolphins, orcas, juvinile Sealions and some of the best coast line in Australia, its that good i have done it 7 times! Thanks to you guys, once i have had my tassy fill , its back on the boat and a trip to esperence wa, via the coast, have a look at all those spots, camp winnie stopped at. Any way, hopefully this was an interesting read and a little insight to my travels , i am hoping to do the lap one day, albeit over a much longer time frame. Did you guys stop at Dampier W.A ? they filmed the story of red dog There . i want to visit Dampier and Monkey Mia for the Feeding of the Dolphins I can only hope you Guys as the Girls leave home , as empty nesters , embark on some fantastic travells, take it from me, the feet get itchy Quickly as you know, its in your Blood now! , i been here in Taree for 2 years now and every day, wishing i was out on the road enjoying the country. And this Friday the 23rd August, that will be me! On the Road Again! i am a retired , Engine reconditioner (fitter Machinist) / Mechanic, with Auto electrical, welding and metal fab Skills Travel with a stick and mig welder , a full tool box and some spares parts. Nothing ever stops me for too long! My bedfords rear tyres must of had 10 or more plugs , soapy water in a spray bottle and a plug kit are your best travel companions. i dont remeber ever using my spare . Just jack up the Flat tyre, pump her up, spray on the soapy water, find the leak and plug it! work on my motor bikes too, never left home with out a plug kit, one tyre on my hyabussa had 5 plugs in it before it had worn out. The only Issue Shanon and Family ? is the waiting for your next videos ? i guess i can always re watch all your vides. i do need to watch Cat meow you tube stuff now. Take care guys , and remember St Hellens tassy, Bay Of Fires and Swim cart Beach, june july to August and if you can stay for 2 to 4 weeks. Unwind and just enjoy the calm , the whales and if after a rain, the bioluminescence Alge at night as the waves break on the beach and did i mention the amazing sun rises? all the best, Robert

Fantastic Video (as usual) , geting out in nature one way or another definately refuels the soul.... consumerism/materialism is the drug that can never be sated, it requires, more and more. Banks and Governments need us to be on that path for profits and taxes. Simplifying your life is a better way to happiness or peace ( experiences not things) . Sounds hippy, but inner peace is a great goal to strive for in these troubled times. I love how motocycling just clears the noise to the single purpose of the ride and the surounding - mobile meditation :)

We also have gone to National Parks, Seaside carparks, the centre of small country towns etc and everything is at the tips of your fingers. So easy and convenient. We also have done both ie tow a caravan and drive a Motorhome. The winner :- easy the motorhome. We also have watched others in big dual axle caravans and yes it takes an hour to set up. We can be set up in 10 minutes. Which reminds me what is a holiday for? Simple to take it easy & enjoy time out. One should not have to spend ages setting up a caravan. Motorhome every step.
