Why doesn't anybody talk about what it's like being back home after a big lap of Australia? What it's like being back at work. Back at school. Back in today's society.
It's been a couple of months since we finished lap 2, so we (Lisa and Shannon) sit down and talk about this over a few drinks, and reflect on life back home. To be very honest, it's a bit depressing!

Hi guys, I too have just found your channel and love it! We are in our late 50s. With our youngest child now 22, life is changing (again!) and we are starting to plan some big trips. You are sacrificing right now for your kids, which is what good parents do. But don't say it is all over! Before you know it, the kids will be grown up and life will change again. Time goes so fast! I hope you can plan a few smaller trips to enjoy you while you navigate this next season of life. You are very inspiring!

You guys helped inspire us to buy another van, and more specifically, visit Kakadu and Crocodile Dundee filming locations. Which I will do on my 50th. But just remember, the kids will move out and you will do it all again. Another thinning out of more stuff. That’s where we are at. Hope you keep posting, and thank you.

Oh guys lve just watched your home episode. What are you doing ?? You have got yourself trapped on what is expected, not what you want. I know the girls are growing fast, & of course friends are important to their social life, but you cant let that halt your your dreams. I left my job after 35 years, sold the huge we were paying off, bouggt a smaller place in the country, and am now debt free. We can jump in our motorhome anytime that we please and go away for a few weeks. Of all people l didn't think l would ever see you locked into that lifestyle again. My advice for what its worth... 1. Sell that big house. 2. Buy smaller house. Be debt free, and JOB free😊 3. Back to trips that suit you, now you dont have to get up to that bloody alarm clock ! My heart feels for you, now you have been hooked into the grind of the expected living cycle.. Take it, or leave it. Thats my 2bobs worth. Love to you all Steve & Sharon

Like a lot of people, I’ve enjoyed watching most of your videos, and you two, with the girls and the cat, are the best of the travelling bloggers. You’re all very likeable, and we all have experienced the disappointment of finishing the journey. We have our own “camp Winnie”, but are yet to do any serious travelling. Next year, for sure. I really want to re-visit all those places that I was forced to visit, because of my trade. I cannot wait. 🤗

This video really touched me, thank you. I was very sad when you finished your weekly videos and couldn't bring myself to say goodbye. Your conversation about the emotional experience of returning home after your 2nd year-long journey around Australia in Winnie really resonated with me. The challenges of readjusting to the rat-race, the kids' desire to return to school, and your feelings of nostalgia and longing for the simplicity of life on the road were beautifully expressed. I loved hearing about your experiences of downsizing and your realisation that ‘stuff’ is just ‘stuff’, and it’s not the same ‘stuff’ that’s truly important. Although my husband and I only manage to get away for about 5 weeks at a time due to our commitment to my elderly parents, we can really relate to your emotions. We feel flat each time we return ‘home’ we somehow feel dissatisfied. Really looking forward to your future videos. My heart is with you all. Good luck Lisa finding the right employer, they will be the winner finding you. And, I don’t know which industry you’re in Shannon, but it ought to be one which allows you to continue to express you amazing creativity. Thanks again guys 🥰

Great video....ive been planning my lap with the intentions of finding my home my happy place sounds like a dream im hoping that the stars align that i find the place, meaning and purpose that i just click with a new start....so maybe i wont complete the lap....was there any place you found yourselves difficult to part with....that is my hope....the fear i face is leaving the stability of a house but whats the point if thats all it is and have nothing else and always left wondering whats out there....when i go i wont return well that is the plan....I guess thats the difference between a trip and a journey for me its all about soul searching finding my belonging....being in my 40s totally dissatisfied i guess ive hit mid life crisis early...obviously ill be rolling solo lucky for me thats all i have to worry about i am a truckie ill pick up work when required to fund myself also check out new areas getting paid on the job.

Oh my goodness. Was the best thing ever waking up and looking through our RU-vid subscriptions and seeing that little red dot to see you guys had put up a post! We are a couple also in our fifties and for the last couple of years have watched your content from start to finish numerous times. You are the pinnacle of what family means and we have been lost without you. We have laughed and cried throughout your adventures and it was your videos that made us sell up our little rental and purchase a motorhome. Although we are still stuck in the grind managing a motel in the NSW high country we plan on hitting the road in a few more years to experience life as you know it. We have done some little trips but are so keen to do the lap and just get out experiencing this magnificent country. Our heart broke for you both seeing the struggle of living the mundane lifestyle and I am sure it won’t be the last we see of your travels. Hopefully we will meet sometime on the open roads. Cheers Cherrie & Trev Coddiwomple Travellers 😊

Hi guys, Loved your video. Very honest and emotional. We met you a couple of years ago in a free camp outside Karajini. We have the same Winnie but a fraction longer - no Checkerplate surround - only now we do thanks to you 👍 We tow a Suzuki on a trailer. We remember you very well - we were parked above you on the hill - it was an indigenous owned land. You invited us to look in your Winnie as you did ours. We still travel - gold detecting but have a home in a lifestyle village Casino NSW. Your RU-vid channel is brilliant - we’ll done. It always takes us time to adjust after being away 6 months - but excited knowing we’ll be on the road again in the future. Good Luck to your family. Cindy & Col 👍🙏

Again - great to “ catch up “ 👋 Cindy & Col 🤗💐🥂

And like you guys our motorhome Maxi lives at a storage facility and I like to sneak down there and crank her up charge the batteries and sometimes have a nap. Joy and I fully get the decompression of returning home too and our last lap seems years ago at this point. 2026 will be here in no time for lap 5! But first Maxi and Mini want to head west to Utah and then the Keys! Thanks for the Sunday Morning show in the States! Cheers

Hi mate. It was custom made from scratch. Started life as a sheet of aluminium cheque plate, folded into a box, tig welded. @@campwinnietravellingaustralia the bed wasn’t comfy so we both became sleep deprived, the sites were very variable, it’s very dependent on who parks up next to you. You can’t park up in town. Site shower blocks were horrible. The drive quality was poor- roads were rough and the power to weight ratio wasn’t great. We got back problems from driving position plus a bad bed.
