Hi, yeah it really doesn’t service a purpose from what I’ve seen, I tried looking it up but couldn’t find anything. Hopefully this helps…I really can’t check it out because I sold that kayak years ago.
May be a stupid question... but how do you know what number your magnetic cast control is on? It doesn't really have an indicator I just got the lexa hd 400 xs-p I'm kind of new to fishing.. thanks
Got my avet sx raptor from Craigslist for $375 in 2013 when the price was still in the high $500. I’ve kept it nice n clean, only had 3 scratches on it. Overall it’s a great reel
I have the Alexa wn400hs LP , and I run the power pro super 8 slick V2 16 diameter 65 lb strength in the blue or moss green all the way and I'm throwing six and eight inch Huddleston with a 12 drop fishing mower trial pattern I fish the Colorado River for stripers and I also throw river to see s waiver 200s swimbait and I can get them way out there even the pencil poppers and I have no problem I have it matched up with a okuma rod 8-footer and the matchup is great works fantastic I use a lot of swim baits with it
If you have not figured it out yet. The little tool that comes in the box that you used to unscrew the side plate is actually to unscrew the handle knob to service the bearings as well.
I was thinking of using a riveter to add the pad eyes, I see you used screws, are they still holding? I might steal your noodle idea for the crate spacer.
+James J LaRue yeah the screws worked out really well no leaks as of today, and of course you can use the noodle idea that's what RU-vid is for right lol
I'm 6' and 0.75", 199lbs and I got this exact same kayak for free. I've used it on a still lake a few times with no issues. I'm about to clean it up and fill some of the scratches. I'm wondering if it's good enough to do the 17 mile run on the Colorado river in Northern AZ, between Lake Powell and Lees Ferry. There's no rapids at all. What model of scupper plugs fit this kayak well?
+James J LaRue oh man that sounds like an awesome trip and I'm pretty sure your kayak will work great on that river. I used the biggest scupper plugs I could find since these holes were pretty big on this kayak, I cant remember the brand name but I got a set of BLUE ones and Green ones which I'm assuming are the biggest ones, the blues ones are a little stiffer then the green ones that I got but both work perfectly....hope you have a great trip
Everyone is talking yellow tail. I wonder how it would handle kingfish (King mackerel) and if it would handle the smoker sizes 40 lb plus? I wonder about dolphin (dorado or mahi) and ling (cobia) also. And the bigger red snapper (mid 20 lb) what do you guys think? I was raised on a lot heavier gear than this (The old Penn 6 and Penn 340)
I'm East coast too. If you haven't already figured it out, these are plenty capable of handling a smoker. They're using them on BFT, that should tell you all you need to know. I'm talking about the 400HD, not the 300. Shimano Tranx is another contender, they also make a 500 size but I don't have any experience with the Tranx, I just hear they're excellent too.
For yellow tail I think 200-250 yards of 50 lb braid with 50-100 yards of 30 lb mono or fluro should be sufficient for this fish type and reel capacity. Tight lines. 🤙
Nice setup on your truck, and colour fits good for tranportation and for nature waters too. I dont get that kayaks and padles are colourful plastick in wildernes. The leaking points are the screws at the back of the kayak. Some silikon sealing would solve the prob.
ever want to see through water on camera put the polarized glasses over lens. if they are good glasses will let camera see in polarized vison. yeeee cool page
The more you use the avet the more you will love it they are absolutely awesome reels I’m in Florida and use mine for smaller snapper and triggerfish awesome awesome reel
