Hi, I’m Alicia 👋 On this channel you’ll find videos of my explorations and outdoor life in Newfoundland. I enjoy experimenting with alternative ways of living and thinking. I want to inspire you to dream bigger, challenge yourself, and pursue your passions. To live your life in a way that fulfills and enriches your spirit. Being outside provides benefits beyond measure for our health and well being. I feel that the modern world has led us to great disconnections with ourselves, our families and the earth. I hope to change this cycle through sharing my love of the great outdoors, and providing space for others to do the same. I want to share the message of how much mindful movement matters, both physical and mental. I am a Mom and a creative. I am also a 200Hr Certified Yoga Teacher, and Veterinary Technician. ________________________________________ Coddiwomple; to travel in a purposeful manner toward a vague destination.
"The place I am looking for is more of a feeling than a destination." - beautiful words and you are so right! I was looking for a property for a long time, and just recently bought a place to build an offgrid homestead, and it was all just following the feeling! Best decision ever! Looking forward to following your journey! You have a new subscriber from Croatia 💛
Looking for something you guys are dreaming about is so cool. Me and Andrea are working on our little piece of paradise and we are still dream of what tomorrow will bring to use. You are creating so much memories for your kids. Looking forward for next week video. Pat
A lifetime of beach camping with my wife and children then our grandchildren, all I can say is wow.Absoutley beautiful and a great job on the photography.I really like how you put into perspective our time with our children !! So true.Great work keep it coming. The southwest coast of this province is stunning as well.
Thank you 😊 Yes we have a lot more of Newfoundland to explore! You’ll see in some future episodes. Yes they are the best memories 🥰 I’m so happy they will have these videos later to watch!
Yeah, when you started talking about your mom and why you visit the ocean so often, yep, you got me! (Nothing worse than moist eyes when you're looking at a great video!) Looking forward to your next video chapter......
The only problem with “Someday” is the best property wont wait for you. Someone else will grab your someday for their TODAY. We also waited for the someday..but then we were retired before we found it. Now we have our little slice of land we are getting too old to enjoy it. Dont wait.. live your best life now.
Everytime I watch a RU-vid on Newfoundland I think.....I for sure am a rural Newfoundlander....even though I've never been there. Living in stuffy SW Ontario. I'm not young tho.... I'm 68. 'someday..................' ? ♥️🇨🇦
You can always make the change! I’d never been to Newfoundland before I moved here, best decision I’ve ever made 🥰. Don’t wait too long for that someday.
I just discovered your channel today and came away inspired by you--thank you, I needed this! I have so much admiration for what you have done up to this point for you and your beautiful young family, and I know you will live your dream. I am much older, now 63, but have this dream of wanting to live somewhere like Newfoundland, but since I am in the USA, I am thinking way up in NW Montana where there is still some affordable land right up by the Canadian border. I am so over big-city living and like so many, I am on the wheel of working my tail off to pay the overhead, and not only is it not very personally or professionally rewarding (except for helping my very nice clientele who I am blessed to work for), it is exhausting. So, I have to get the courage up to just move, hopefully make a living working my business remotely and get back to a simple life and 4 seasons. People like you remind me it can in fact be done!
Awe thank you so much ❤️ I’ve never been to Montana but I think that would probably be a great place for a similar life to get away from it all. Don’t give up on those dreams, someday could be today !
Very much looking forward to further episodes and your adventuresI'm Pam from Coventry, UKWill need to get my atlas out to pinpoint exactly where you are🌎
Hi, love your journey thus far. I'm from Central Newfoundland originally. If I were setting up a homestead in Newfoundland I would look to Central Newfoundland because there are huge peat bogs which are excellent ground for root vegetables, and with very little fog, greenhouses would be an ideal way of growing things as well. However I think the choices ground would be the West Coast in the Codroy Valley. The ground is so fertile over there, it is unbelievable!
Thank you, this is excellent advice! I was thinking the same thing, I see a lot more farms and homesteads in those parts. We will be looking at places central for sure, maybe West coast even. I agree, for growing this would be much smarter. We need to figure out if we can make our jobs work with moving father away though.
Great video. If you plan to live of grid you need to think about hunting. Me and Andrea could help you with that part. We have a cabin where we hunt and fish and we could introduce you and you family in to it. If not, we wish you and you family just the best. Pat
Very profound words, looks like this is going to be an interesting series....I'm coming along for the ride as well....hope you find what your looking for. Newly subscribed.
Awesome Alicia this is great stuff watching videos if you guys having fun and looking for beautiful spots to camp along the way . hope you guys so much that you will find place you are comfortable with
@@OutdoorLifeOnTheRock 👍🏻 I am lucks to live in a beautiful part of the world with many great things to see. Eventhough some of these things are a long trip from each other. My husband and I spent 2 years on the road travelling around our country and if it wasn’t for missing my children and grandchildren I would still be on the road doing it. It’s a great life.
Disney couldn’t produce such a magical yet genuine video. Thank you for sharing , both fabulous visuals and honest opinion. As a woman that intentionally chose to not have children I applaud your clarity and commitment. Stay true to your gut. Greetings and you got a new sub from cape Breton.
My grandmother lived in St. Vincent's for many years and I spent many childhood days (often enshrouded in fog!) watching the whales long before the word was out and social media made it popular. We would often have the whole stretch of beach to ourselves and watched these gentle giants for hours at a time. Wonderful job of capturing the beauty and majesty of this area and event!
From various videos you can see how kids are growing and enjoying the great outdoors..I how last camping weekend was last week for overnight staying because mornings are damp getting breakfast lol we will still be taking road trips and lunches and little trips like last week we went grates cove. Great keep them coming
Yes they are growing way too fast 🥹 I love that I can go back and see it in the videos. It’s getting chillier at night, summer goes by too fast. Fires in the morning are nice when it’s damp, I do love fall camping too though!
Awesome video , I’m thinking about this jeep and tent set up in the next year or 3 any tips and details would be great . Cheers you have a sweet family 😊🙏🖐️
Thank you 😊 I had most of the build done at Beast Off-road in Toronto, amazing shop and great people! If you have any specific questions send me an email, I’d be happy to answer them. Outdoorlifeontherock@gmail.com
In a capitalist society your worth is measured by how much money you make. Doing unpaid work as a SAHM isn't valued. I was a SAHM for 10 years. The first 6 years my husband, daughter, 2 dogs and I lived in a 700 square foot apartment in the Bronx. It was the absolute best time of my life being a SAHM. My daughter is now 18 years old, she is awesome and I wouldn't have changed a thing about how we raised her. Women are told a toxic cultural narrative that it is fine not to raise your own children full time. Hopefully this will change. In the meantime, it's important that the mothers that want to raise their children full time do not give into the pressure not to do so.
This 🙌 I’m so happy that you had that time with your daughter. I agree, they truly are the best years. Hopefully this will change, hopefully more moms will try if that’s what they want to do.
There's nothing wrong with becoming a full time Mom , my wife did it when our kids were little, and my daughter hasn't gone back to teaching since our granddaughter was born three years ago, I think she will when our granddaughter goes back to school. So I say good on you for being a MOM !! It's an awesome video but I have a question where is Sparks Cove because it looks like an awesome spot to camp. Hope you all have a great week.
Thank you 😊 ! I think it’s slowly becoming a bit more accepted, depends on what kind of work you’re in. It’s hard to pause in mine. I’d love to share it with you but I like to keep these places wild and beautiful for years to come. Sharing locations to the masses can disrupt this. Not everyone leaves it as they found it unfortunately. I will say that i spend hours looking at satellite views on google maps, that’s how I find places. Then I drive to them and hope to find something great, which doesn’t always pan out. Sometimes it does. That’s how I found sparks cove, I drove for 6 hours that day before I found it, 3 of it off road. When I drove out onto that beach it was THE best feeling, the journey is just as important as the destination! Happy Exploring 😊
@@OutdoorLifeOnTheRock I can accept that lol, especially people don't often leave it like they found it, I know here in central you're hard pressed not to find garbage in the woods. Thanks for the response I hope you have a great week.
Thank you 😊 I’m still learning a lot, but loving the process of learning it all. I started with a Nikon Z30, and I use my iPhone for back up. Hoping to get a drone soon!
