I was in Hawaii, flying out that day, when the 747s collided. We were staying at a smaller hotel and EVERYONE was out by the pool with newspapers. NO one who was flying that day, wanted to get on any airplane. The mood was somber, people were scared, people were horrified. That's one day I'll never forget. RIP to all of them that didn't make it that day.
I still dont understand from this why the crew were not helping the passengers though. What happened too all the crew? Did they abandon ship without the passengers? The two women pulling the man onto the lifeboat were very lucky as well, if it had overloaded the lifeboat they would have doomed themselves and everyone else on that boat.
don't leave construction materials or fractures on drive lanes at all , no minute day time or at night. If an emergency, put a regulator with lights or a BIG truck with signals. It is confusing for pilots.
Amazing flying of Capt Sullivan - he's calm, assertive, smart, and gets the job done wonderfully. I love watching this portion. They should have him teach these landing on the water. Only two captains on these shows have done it well enough. That means they need to create a simulator training session for this because everyone else does it poorly. Now those who don't have control of the plane is one thing, but those who do, need to learn how to do it the best they can.
KLM captain in too much of a hurry. 1st, in the original show, the Pan Am pilots discuss how the visibility is too low to take off at that moment which the KLM should have realized too. 2nd, once he heard the squealing of the radio, he should have called to reconfirm take off clearance because it was obvious people were speaking at that time but the radio scewed up. 3rd, he should have listened to his 1st officer who understood the next clear radio communication, but he was too arrogant to do so. In a really challenging situation they had there, pilots need to make double sure everyone understands each other, especially when in a foreign country where accents and verbiage can be different and difficult to understand. The Pan Am pilots were good to make sure they were understanding the controller and discussing the situation together. KLM captain wasn't and his other officers weren't assertive enough to counter him. Being a safety manager really kicks you in the gut as he should have understood that safety was more important than his schedule. It's just amazing how irresponsible he was.
The Airforce certainly guaranteed the economic trade people would crash. Why the hell wasn't the plane equipped with the proper gear for that region and the proper mapping? Nowadays, we might think the Airforce did it on purpose like the FBI and CIA do when they don't like what the governments' agreed goals are or don't like the politicians involved.
1st Story: One would think that they would practice this maneuver at least once at the site b4 doing it with passengers. Or at least know the layout of the area. But they didn't do either. Bad idea.
Look I’m stoked that this chick survived and she has gone on to have a fulfilling life….. however I’m pretty much her same age and if I got scraped by a bat, or if I thought I got bit by a bat or I had an open wound while carrying a bat, I would most definitely go straight to the hospital and inquire about rabies vaccine or treatment. It’s such common knowledge. It’s unfathomable that neither she, or her parents or family had any thought of rabies crossing their mind🤷🏻♂️🤦♂️
pRiOriTy mEaNs blahblahblah eVeN a cHiLd kNoWs You have declare emergency. JFC. You can't use vague language, that's been established over and over. Words are very important in ATC. They could have declared emergency. But didn't. I wonder if the families of those drug mule scumbags got their greasy hands on tax payer money? Japanese pilots, Chinese pilots, Indian pilots can learn English well enough but not that pilot? Why is or always people from certain Latin American countries that REFUSE to learn English? Literally it's only them. Lots of other immigrants do. Have you met a Russian immigrant who has not learned English? Indian? Pakistan? Not me.
1:08:01 This choked me up. They sang Christmas Carols even when all hope seemed lost in a swamp with snakes and crocodiles... Some strong people I tell ya.
A sad situation that could have been easily avoided. 😒😔The fact that the captain seemed to lose his situational awareness and the airport was very disturbing especially when the copilot told him where it was. They messed up their checklist and both were tired, which led to mistakes. The illegally fixed lights at the end of the runway was the icing on the cake and ended that plane. So sad. 😢
Two...two young children were "forgotten" on a burning plane?? Those parents may have survived the flames in this life, but flames are undoubtedly waiting for them in the next...
This story makes me sick, the pride of the Japanese men who wouldn’t accept help from other people right after the crash, caused the deaths of so many more people. So angry.
My heart hurts for the young boy, his father and especially his mother in Peru… I can’t imagine having to hold your baby close knowing it’s going to end. Then to be left behind as your family passes so tragically. Breaks my heart. I also can’t imagine the fear and guilt you’d feel as a pilot those last moments. We’re human and all make mistakes but the margin for error is so small for pilots. Rest in peace to everyone in this video. You haven’t been forgotten and though it had to be such an ultimate sacrifice, we left behind have learned from your loss.
Click bait. More than half into this video before Senna is mentioned. It’s more a Niki Lauda perspective documentary. I’m sorry Prost was a jealous dick. And the FIA sucked it for him.
I get angry when I see these beggars take their children with them when they are going to beg. The boy should be at school, not going round begging on trains.
What the fuck RU-vid? A commercial every 4 or 5 minutes on most videos now? Ur worse then network TV & little commercials was why I WAS a big fan of watching
I watched the man who got so angry because the station staff wouldn't let him travel with a ticket he bought from a tout. I don't understand why spme people get so angry and behave like he did, only for a tube ticket costing a few pounds.
That is a flight crew with little to no mechanical knowledge whatsoever cuz to pump fuel from a full wing tank over to a side that is visually loosing fuel at a consistent rate even if it were a faulty gauge made no sense! Leave the left tank full and if the right side flames out then that proves there is indeed a massive fuel leak but cross feed fuel over just to watch your gauges equalize or to keep the weight even on each wing when there's even a slight possibility of a fuel leak was a decision made with no mechanical basis if the right wing ran out and the right engine flamed out they could have made it with a good left engine and could have even DUMPED fuel from the left to correct an uneven weight issue but they wouldn't have lost both engines and all the fuel
In case of faulty Engine fire warning at fire warning computers...signal will go to Fadec to close Engine HP fuel shutoff vales.....so no fuel and no power on both Engines suddenly..... Check post floght teports about any Engine fire warning or failure of fire warning vomputer...
I know fires and SPADs are two different things but that 'shit happens and we deal with the consequences' attitude in LU was criticised in the report on the King's Cross fire. LU pre-1987 took the view "Fires happen, it's inevitable". Miranda thinks "SPADs happen (and buses hitting cars!), it's inevitable".
