I was incarcerated in the same prison with him such a laid back dude never looked angry but at the same time never smiled and when he laughed it was always just a small lil laugh and smirk just a chill humble guy stayed playing his guitar and singing and when he sang in the church room he had the biggest hardest craziest toughest dudes in a daze looking like they was about to cry always said he would be on the Apollo next thing we knew he was out and we all had his cd then so many others was rapping and singing saying they was gonna make it to
Just saw him perform last night here in Chicago. Dude sounds EXACTLY the same at 45 years old now. One of the best vocal performances I've ever witnessed live! Touched my soul. Straight gospel
Lyfe aside from whatever perceived faults, (drug use, fathering multiple children) was never willing to compromise his manhood, morals, or his integrity for fame and money so at a certain level he was ushered away from the spotlight. How can we deny what is laid plain before our faces? Some of the best of us are used to promote dysfunction and perpetual failure.
Never knew this is how he started. This is dope! I love Lyfe. When my husband was locked up he used to dedicate all his songs to me & sing them to me. So lyfes songs has carried me thru alot of tough times. Apollo discovered all the real talent! I used to live around the corner from there when i lived in ny, but never saw anyone famous..lol
I remember watching this live while my mom was doing my hair late at night. I had to have been 12 or 13 at the time. I've NEVER forgotten how this song made me feel when I first heard it, and all those emotions just flooded back
This the most purest song I ever heard. In my life❤🙌🏽 .... the delivery speak volumes, take me back to that jail cell when you had nothing but songs and tears 😢 I feel this in my soul
I've been a fan of LYFE ever since watching this with my girl at the time. I remember telling her... I hope this Nigga Blows TF up! I was so happy when he finally did. Lyfe's music really touches people. He's a very special talent. Salute to him.
You have encouraged me to tell my son's that when you have something to sing about or rap about. Do what it supposed to do and don't let the system hold you down or put you in that category* on that note writing to inspire again. Peace, love, & second chance*
Come on lyfe!! Represent for the 419/567 brought me to tears. Didnt even know you performed this at apollo. This ablum. Is bomb!! Everyone fo get it please. Luv you my hometown brotha
I remember being in prison and waiting up til 2am to watch Showtime at the Apollo. One nite this dude lyfe came on and had 4 prisoner's damn near in tears. The next 2 weeks he had equally moving performances.
