Imagine being an at home player and waiting years to be called, and when you finally are, all you get is an etch a sketch,a cheap bag of candy and a picture with Bozo and some random kid, you've never met and never will, all because she couldn't even hit the second bucket! 😆 😆 😆
Congrats mate. Was great cheering you on as you were running wild! Ps. That bird is called a Curlew and is terrifying at night if you don't know what it is!
Don’t worry they still had mass hysteria culture war bullshit. Like listening to rock and roll or playing D&D would turn you into a satanist. Then they had the stranger danger and the long drawn out McMartin preschool molestation/satanism investigation by some paranoid parents.
Mfkr can't keep it's nasty mitts off them kids. Fkin clowns and their pervert shyt. And when he said "They expressed themselves all over that shirt" 👀 Are you fking kidding me!?
The show is a little bit different from the way it was when I was on it back in 1976. They used to use "Magic Arrows" to select contestants, but they probably changed to drawing ticket numbers with the "Bozoputer" because the arrows would often land on adults or babies and they had to keep spinning to get kids that could play, or they would land on a boy or girl when they already got one. With the Bozoputer, they only have to run it twice to pick one boy and one girl. Also, the band playing in the background sounds different from the way it was done earlier in the show's history.
The traditional band got replaced by a single person using a synthesizer in 1987 due to budget cuts. WGN slowly grew more and more cheapskate towards the show over the years after that point.
You're right about that. Everyone is white in the audience. The show doesn't discriminate, but I guess there aren't any black kids that want to be on it.
I was riding near you when that peloton came up to us, and then I heard the crashes! After I heard the crashes I was happy to see that you or your bike wasn’t involved!
Oh wow! I'm also happy to hear you stayed safe from that carnage. I appreciate you thinking about the safety of myself and the Hulkinator bike! Just came up with that name for the bike... maybe it'll stick.
I never saw this show growing up in California, but when I was in my late teens I was in the Army stationed at Ft. Drum, NY and got in the habit of watching this every morning. After a while all of us in the barracks were watching to see if anyone would get the grand prize! I don't think I ever saw anyone win it.
It was extremely rare but I do recall a few kids winning the bike over the years I grew up with this show. Probably only about 6 over nearly a decade. A deceptively hard challenge.
Plus, a Nintendo Switch, a Royal Caribbean Cruise, early driver's license with a brand-new Ferrari, college scholarship. Today's kids get everything lol.
Occasionally, letters would get mangled by the sorting machines at the Post Office which would then place the contents in a plastic bag acknowledging that it caused the damage. Bozo is alibiing here which he and Cookie did quite often.
Wow i didnt know they were still showing this in 88 as a freshman in highschool i certainly wouldnt have been watching but in the 6th grade this show was gold.
