Fab days, real nitty gritty days. I was a Birmingham bus driver in the days of Fleetlines, mk1 mk2 Metrobus's and the fab Lynx. I was typed trained on the Leyland national too, but never drove a national in service as they were soon withdrawn after i started in 1990. I was at acocks green for a few month then moved to Quinton bus garage when Quinton closed in June 1997 i moved to Yardley Wood garage until 2011.
Miss them days my dad worked at mid red north Wellington garage he did services 890 892 and 682 Compton and 516 Pattingham was the last route he did before going on coaching with riverside coach ways telford
Year i passed my driving test🎉 Was a pleasure to drive back then no📞📸 or speed humps Gradually got too how it is today Remember seeing one of those green buses parked up. As i drove by the driver looked bit busy on the back seat 😂
This ain’t 93… more like mid to late 80s as i was at Cannock college in 91/92 and this ain’t after that, but great vid rolling back the years when the nock was decent!
When woman had the opportunity to stand up to men such a classic the spider part was funny aswel as the tablet's that made them pea throughout there work lol
By Jove, takes me back to my early twenties. Here I would have been twenty three and remember the old blue West Midlands Travel and orange Chase buses! The old bus station - better than the chaotic current one. I recall the 991 to Lichfield, as I used to catch it, in addition to the 392-396!
Look at the pollution from some exhausts, lol. You still see it now from some buses. Not changed much. But we all have to go electric for the climate, Bollocks.😇

even our school janitors dressed like that back then ;as did the park attendants ....... it all went it a pete tong after that (see the panorama doc on football violence = the ww2 vet era having more r&r time ; washing their new cars on Saturdays - not going to football to keep teens & louts in order etc etc)
the new boss on the film Mutiny On The Buses made in 1972 using a Buses Radio Control machine was his idea in the first place and yet after getting told off by the police the boss was the one talking to the police at the gasworks and he did'nt want to admit it in front of them so he blame's it on Blakey
Can't believe I didn't see an X20 in there! £2.50 Would buy you an explorer ticket 🎫 which would take you on as many journeys as you wanted for the day! 😊 Happy times Good days 👍
I remember going on these when I was a child of around 7. Always thought they were lovely, much nicer than the Metrobus. I especially remember how hard it seemed to pull open the windows, for some reason. Thanks
