Hello I’m back subscribers have not been well hope you are all safe🙂
Here for us Fleetline fans I went to Aston Manor today 8/7/21
to see 50 year old Fleetline 4041 now back at the museum I was invited for a quick spin around Aldridge having repairs carried out she performed wonderful like the day she was new.
4041 new In 1971 to Wolverhampton Happy birthday old girl.
Enjoy this nostalgia video fans

I remember going on these when I was a child of around 7. Always thought they were lovely, much nicer than the Metrobus. I especially remember how hard it seemed to pull open the windows, for some reason. Thanks

Just great stuff that. Love the vid. Just like being aboard the original as I first remember it over 50 years ago. From what I can see the seats have been somewhat reupholstered, and the insignia above the front windscreen has since been updated so it's deffo post-1978.

Looking and sounding great for a bus just slightly older than me as I hit 50 later this year too. Hope it wasn't anything serious for you buddy. Must find the time to visit Aston Manor's new abode as I usually visit Wythall instead

Hi mate thanks for your comment yes she’s a great bus, she was suppose to go over to Barr Beacon tomorrow they have told me she has gearbox problems.

Has it really been 25 years now since these Fleetline buses were withdrawn? 1997 I believe. I see this bus has retained the red leather seats. A lot of these had the red leather replaced with the soft blue seats. What about the exterior of this bus? - the silver & blue with the red stripe after they were all repainted? - or the traditional cream & blue?

Hi Kieth yes that’s correct 1997 7000 is Preserved is at Wythall, 4041 still retains her original interior from withdrawal in 1986. 😊

@@MetrobusChris 1986?? No wonder it still has the original red seats. I thought they all went out of service 11 years later. Maybe a lot of them withdrawn before 1997 it seems.

@@keithlivingstone5321 yes that’s right but 4041 was retained by WMT after Deregulation and was later donated to Aston Manor and has had no repaint and still carries its original seating and glad you like my videos bud 😊

@@MetrobusChris Fantastic videos mate. Happy memories from my childhood of travelling on these buses - & breathing in all the cigarette smoke on the top deck - well, it was the 80s.
