Welcome to Teqqles does sim racing. I'm David Long, aka Teqqles and this channel is dedicated to the ups and downs of getting into sim racing. I go through setting things up, hardware, sim rigs, competitive racing and try my hand at a few different games. Hopefully we both learn something on this journey.

This channel is for anyone into Sim Racing but especially those into DIY or looking at new hardware. I do this from my own pocket so you can be assured that any feelings about a subject are my own. I try to keep videos bite sized so you can jump in and out with very little spare time, hopefully giving you enough confidence to carry your interest further.

If you like what you're reading why not hit that subscribe button and wait for more glorious content on Sim Racing.

Crazy that there will be no further support or updates for the toolkit. It’s dead.
@Teqqlesdoessimracing
@Teqqlesdoessimracing 5 дней назад
Yes, Toolkit was made as a proof of concept of how it should be done in games rather than something the author wanted to support long-term. My hope is that someone will take this on or make their own version which will allow us to play the many old sim titles that will never get these features implemented natively.

@Teqqlesdoessimracing

I believe this is only really useful if you want rain physics on vehicles that don't have that checked on by default anyway. Cars that have it enabled I don't think it has an impact on and if the track/vehicle doesn't support it then it'll make not difference.

SteamLink/SteamVR is absolutely solid for me playing flightsim on max detail with a 4090, wifi 6e. I've tried weird, no difference visual wise, aside from the tiniest introduced latency. Not sure why others are having an issue with steamlink and steamvr though.

So I've tried every WiFi solution and find the direct USB3 connection to be the best for SimRacing. The resolution, frame times, and synchronicity of the ForceFeedback wheel feel much better. I have already switched to Wifi6 myself, etc. Nothing brings me the same quality. No matter what codec, how much bitrate... You can also use the OculusdebugTool to limit the vertical image, which gives you the greatest performance boost. As a sim racer you don't have to watch your roof or your feet, the apex is the most important. This easily saves me 30% or more in performance.

I'm really thinking about giving up on meta quest since both pro and 3 have this stutter every 3 or 4 seconds which I think is caused by gpu to vsync, since It doesn't happen in recordings, or on my actual pc, just in the headset. Going back to a native pc vr headset for me might be a good idea. just want something wireless and light, might even try apple vision if I can get one for a lot cheaper later on, since I only need it for racing games.
@Teqqlesdoessimracing
@Teqqlesdoessimracing 21 день назад
The original Pimax Crystal has issues so I'm not sure I'd recommend that as a wireless option for you. I hear what you're saying about the Quest line of devices though, the headsets can't always keep up with the encoded video signal and it feels like a syncing issue. It might be worth trying from a low quality bitrate and see if that gets rid of your issue. If you get hitching even then that'd certainly be depressing!

@GhostWriter_Music 21 день назад
@@Teqqlesdoessimracing thanks for the info. I already tried lower resolution and lower bitrate. It’s the same thing. Tried different computer and same. I really don’t think it’s a hardware problem because it happens on both quest pro and 3, but it didn’t always happen on them.

@GhostWriter_Music 21 день назад
@@Teqqlesdoessimracing it’s wireless. I don’t have any problem with consistency in wireless. Even the stutter is consistent. Something I have noticed is gpu to vsync having a drop in milliseconds same time stutters happen. It also does it in the desktop, and watching movies from the desktop. It started happening after version 58 and it’s not part of that bug with WiFi. It’s a consistent 2400Mbps connection, I’m just researching how to get it back to previous firmware. What basis is there to believe that WMR will be a paperweight? As long as the WMR panel remains available (I see no reason why Microsoft would remove access to it), and WMR for steamvr is available (same reason) there should be no reason why it would stop working. I mean, eventually some new software wouldn't be compatible, but that wouldn't stop old supported software from working?
@Teqqlesdoessimracing
@Teqqlesdoessimracing Месяц назад
In a word Microsoft. In Windows 11 24H2 update, it is no longer available/working. If you are on Windows 10 or only update security patches, you'll probably be fine until you have new hardware requiring an update. Hopefully, an open option will keep WMR users afloat in the future. 🤞

@7MBoosted hopefully Windows detects that you use WMR and blocks the update, I'm assuming you're on 23H2. This is Microsoft's own article on the subject. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/deprecated-features 'Windows Mixed Reality is deprecated and will be removed in Windows 11, version 24H2. This deprecation includes the Mixed Reality Portal app, Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR, and Steam VR Beta. Existing Windows Mixed Reality devices will continue to work with Steam through November 2026, if users remain on their current released version of Windows 11, version 23H2. After November 2026, Windows Mixed Reality will no longer receive security updates, nonsecurity updates, bug fixes, technical support, or online technical content updates.'
@7MBoosted
@7MBoosted Месяц назад
@Teqqlesdoessimracing maybe I am on 23H2. But good to know about the upgrade. I don't know why they wouldn't just leave it all available and put a disclaimer of, "use at your own risk." That seems like the better option, but hopefully an open-source option will allow WMR hardware to continue working after 2026. I get really frustrated by choices that create e-waste unnecessarily.

Your main cam makes it look far more spacious than it actually is, so it’s great to see it from other angles - and see just how tight it is.
