A great video and a very relaxing watch. I always learn something more about the art of wild camping (and doing it well) from your videos. Thank you for posting it. Really like the clips showing the wildlife and the natural environment, it looks beautiful, no wonder you enjoy spending time there.
Thank you for the kind comment and glad that you are picking up some tips. That camp spot was not too far from home at all, and I am grateful that I live in such a beautiful area. Thanks for watching. 👍
Hi, I only had the Snugpak Extreme 4 bag with a air mattress and cheap 6x4 tarp from Home Bargains underneath, the rest is as you see it. Thanks for watching. 👍
@@ysgolgerlan I just googled it and was surprised to see the Snugpak Extreme weighs about the same as the sleeping bag I've been carrying around....! The only difference is how they pack down - the snugpak takes less room,
@@WildBikeCamper Sorry but I meant to say it was the Snugpak Elite 4 and not the Snugpak Extreme 4. It is a synthetic bag and does not compress as well as a down bag would. Having said that, the packed size is quite good along with it's weight, and it is warm and stays warm if it gets wet. All the best. 👍
Yes the cuckoo was nice to see, I have to admit though that it went on my nerves in the end. It was constantly cuckoo-ing for over half an hour. Thanks for watching. 👍
Yes, I was camped in a little dip and the main path was just behind me. If anyone came they would just think that I was sitting down on a groundsheet. Thanks for watching. 👍
Fabulous landscapes. What are your thoughts about the liveability of the inner ? It may be the camera angle but at one point your head looked as if it was really close to the mesh. I was wondering how roomy it is in practice for taller hikers. Many thanks. All the best.
There is not that much room in the inner, you can sit up in the middle but because of the pyramid shape the sides slope downwards if you know what I mean. As for lying down I should think there is room for someone who is around the 6' 2-3in. The Tarpstar 1 is what it is I'm afraid. I plan on using it next time without the inner and that gives plenty of room inside. Thanks for watching. 👍
@@ysgolgerlan Thanks for responding. I am in pursuit of the eternal quest of lightness, space and comfort 😆. Alpkit do a Tarpstar 4 which is a little bit bigger but have not made a 1p inner to match its dimensions.
There is a pocket sewn into the center of the flysheet to accommodate the handle of your trekking pole but it is large enough to fit two, tension does the rest. Thanks for watching. 👍
Once again, stunning landscapes, skies, heavenly bodies and wildlife all captured brilliantly sir. The Alpkit shelter looks right at home amongst it, and a most palatial place to doss! Thank you for sharing, really enjoyed it. Cheers. 👍
No chance, you cannot beat the smell and feel of the canvas lavvu and I will keep it for winter use. It is quite heavy though and the Alpkit Tarpstar is ideal for lightweight trips. Diolch am gwylio. 👍
The pyramid style of shelter is very good for tents and is quite strong even with the single pole, and as you commented, possibly stronger with two. Diolch am gwylio. 👍
Another gorgeous camping location and that tarp shelter looks great! That shot of the moon was incredible.- I've never been able to manage anything like that with either my phone or my GoPro.
Thank you. I shoot most of my videos using a (quite old by now) Panasonic camcorder which has x90 zoom, the model is a HC-V260 and is now discontinued. I use the GoPro for shots around camp where a wide angle is needed. Thanks for watching. 👍
What a great video of what I imagine was a brilliant camp. That moon! Was it The Great Orme in the distance? Some lovely videography and a very relaxing watch, thanks for sharing! Rich 👍
Thanks, I thought that it did not go quite to plan as lost my glasses and also when editing, managed to lose a lot of footage of the camp fire and some early morning stuff. Apart from that it was quite enjoyable. Yes it was the Great Orme with the moon rising at around 6.00pm. I was also trying out my new OEX Fathom EV400 sleeping bag and found it to be a bit cold for this time of year, definitely not a 4 season bag. Thanks for watching. 👍
Diolch @@trailsandalesfromwales3074 wedi copio un gefais o ebay ond sydd yn pacio i lawr yn llai. Gollais tipyn o videos wrth fod yn fler yn ystod yr editing, dim ots, mae gwanwyn ar ei ffordd. Diolch am gwylio. 👍
I enjoyed the nature, relics, feather and mushroom spotting in this one - lovely area - with pretty reflections at night as well. Shame it's a year by train from De Cymru!😁
Thank you. I also enjoyed filming this one, the area around the Menai Straits is very beautiful. Yes, I believe the train journey from South to North (and vice versa) can take a while. Thanks for watching. 👍
Thank you. Although I am not really a bike camper, this is the first bike camp that I have done since the 1990's. I do have more camping trips involving the bike planned for this year though. Thanks for subscribing and for watching. 👍
I find that whilst riding my Brompton with a rear pannier bag fitted that my heel catches on the bag. I have now purchased a rack bag which is a bit better, although my heel still touches the bag occasionally. Thanks for watching. 👍
Diolch am wylio @@trailsandalesfromwales3074 I ddweud y gwir oedd hi ddim yn oer felly, rhy gynnes ir adeg or flwyddyn efalla. Oes gen ti trek arall o dan sylw ? 👍
Well spotted. Yes I have made a little modification by sewing on three loops so that I can slide a short pole in thus lifting the bottom end off my feet. It stops the material from touching me when I am inside. Thanks for watching. 👍
Oedd wir, ond buasa fi wedi deffro haner awr yn gynt fuaswn wedi ei ddal yn well. Diolch am gwylio ag paid a cael dy ddal gan y boss yn gwylio youtube !! 👍👍
Very nice setup and a great spot! The sunset looked great. Also seems your sleeping pad inflates really quickly - I've got one of those mini electric pump things but I wonder if I'm doing something wrong now as it always seems to take ages for me!
That looked like a great spot, but sorry to see you had so many midges! I've used a similar tarp setup in the past and got a Sea to Summit (Nano?) Mosquito Pyramid Net to try and keep the bugs out. I always found it quite awkward to set up well and it often ended up in a tangled mess though. Perhaps I just needed to practice more. Weighs less than 100g and packs down to nothing though so it seemed like a good idea.
Thanks for watching. It was my fault really, going camping in their natural habitat. I checked out the spot last month and could not wait to go there. I will return later in the year as there is a nice hammock spot there also. 👍
Yes the DD tarps are good, you could even throw it over you in an emergency. I enjoyed the home made sandwich, it saved a bit of cooking. Thanks for watching and subscribing. 👍

Thanks, I did not initially see the rainbow as it was behind me. The camp was less than an hour's walk from home in the foothills of the Carneddau mountains. Thanks for watching.
Now that's a rarity - a UK hammock wild camp right on the beach! What a fantastic spot, and resourceful pitch. Grub looked just the ticket too. Thanks for sharing, enjoyed that. Rich 👍
Yes, it was a great spot and I was looking out towards Anglesey just over the Menai Straits. I awoke at 11.30pm to the sound of waves crashing on to the shore just around 20 feet away as it was high tide, that was exciting. Thanks for watching. 👍
