Hello! For your Hyundai Palisade AWD riding on 245/50R20, I recommend the Michelin CrossClimate 2 for excellent all-weather capabilities and Michelin Defender if you're looking for longevity and comfort.
Thank you for the kind words! For frequent dirt road trips with your 2013 Honda Odyssey, the BFG offers better off-road capabilities and durability, which might be more suited for your dirtbike adventures... This goes especially when it come to dirt/gravely tracks.
You said the weight of the wildpeaks AT trail is lighter but when i checked on tire rack for the same size, the Nomad Grapplers are lighter by about 6 lbs
No I said its lighter on average. There's a difference. You see we can't just stick to one size, as we have to tell what's the performance like overall. Though if you can give specific size in the future I can let you know better. That's why I always make sure, I reply to comments, You won't see a single comment here without my reply.
@@comparethetire Close to stock size for my 21 tundra. 275/65r18. Right now Im deciding between Nokian NAT, GY Ultraterrain, or another set of my current General Grabber ATX. Snow is an area of concern since I have a 2wd but I've been able to get around alright on my stock all season with a little weight on the back. Just looking for a little extra help with traction. Grabbers have been fine so far but Im beginning to be curious about other tires.
Terraincontact offer better wet traction and are relatively quieter… other than that its almost same. Though in winter and off road areas, cooper takes the lead.
Well, you can easily find that out... You just have to check out the available tire sizes you have right now with speed and load ratings. See what minimum load/speed ratings are recommended on vehicles manual, and what's the rims size [ you can go over +/- 10 to 20 mm on the width too.
I got the previous version dura’s on a lite 2door jk, work well overall in sand (most of my off-roading) and gravel roads. On the road they are really good, particularly in the wet on such a lite car. They have worn well as I rotate them every service. They are abit noisy but not like mud terrains, I don’t mind it tbh once the stereo is up you don’t hear anything haha. I have done about 50,000km’s and still got another 20 in them. I might be keen on these updated versions, but am looking at the boulder MT’s for the more aggressive look. May as well it’s not my daily.
Nice review man. Yes we loved their performance on sand … actually a lot espically in incline traction test. They do really great on softer terrains so mud sand and soft snow no problem for these guys.
Hi, I keep hearing the Michelin LTX MS tire has been discontinued. Are you able to verify that? If so, do you know why it was discontinued? Someone told me the LTX MS2 is replacing it. Thoughts on that tire vs the LTX MS original? TIA
Hey, yes these tires are going away for good, but the good thing is the newer ms2 does better in majority of performance areas. BTW do check out Michelin Defender Platinum, I have a feeling you’d like it
Replacing my ko2s after 50k. Looking for smoother ride but still have some off-road look and winter performance. Most of my driving is on road and highway. Which of these tires is best for 18 tundra crewmax ?
@@comparethetire they were good tires - certainly made the ride rougher than stock but not bad for aggressive tire. After 50k they started to get louder as they wore. Still probably 10k left on tread. Still looking for something softer riding but still looks good. I also like the white lettering.
Yea they do that, actually they have dual compound with harder stuff underneath. That affects their wet traction the most, and yes also causes more growling and in groove resonance.
All those that are C - D for heavy vehicles, in my case I use 285/70/17, you can find 2 or 3 ply but larger than that are 3 ply . You can see the ones whit 2 ply for SUVs that have more lines to evacuate water.
Hey I guess you got confused with load rating and ply rating. These are two different things themselves, and are also different from 2/3 polyester plies you get on a tire carcass. Head over to tiredriver . Com and search for “load rating” you’d get it all within a couple of minutes.
My Toyo AT3 tires have been thru everything in Big Bear (snow, black ice, rain, 4x4 off roading) and have gotten me out of sketchy Arizona’s best off grid, rocky, unpaved red clay roads. As well as smooth rides in the Las Vegas heat. Will buy Toyo AT3 again 2015 Silverado Z71 California
O okay…. We are testing these guys on hilux nowadays. And that reminds me, do check out their comparison with Wildpeak at4w, just published that video a week back.
You can say that again. They are pretty underrated for such a great on road AT tire option. I guess Wildpeak At3/4w takes up all the spotlight. What size and vehicle were you running? Also if you have time to share, what other tires have you had experiences with?
Great vid. Recently drove an F150 Lariat with a level kit rolling on 20x10 Fuel wheels and 35 inch Ridge Grapplers. I was shocked that they were so quiet. Not much different than stock wheels and tires. Fantastic ride quality. Also, a friend has a 2023 Suburban RST with custom wheels and Ridge Grapplers. He loves it.
Thanks for sharing man. Sounds like a great setup. I personally love their dry traction compared to others in their category I mean. Though they could use some help in wet.
I had both on my Tacoma and Tundra and 4runner and also had BFG K02’s and the Falken AT3w was the most impressive and my other favorite tire i have is Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T.
I personally like the Baja Boss AT a little better now, since you can’t get Wildpeak at3w anymore (as they got replaced with at4) Anyways…What sizes were you running?
Sometimes it's really difficult reading these reviews because there are different variations of the LTX MS. You have the LTX MS, LTX MS2, Defender LTX MS, Defender LTX MS2. Then you have the Defender and Defender 2, non LTX. So when I'm reading these posts I have no idea which tire I'm reading about and mix for inconsistent reviews. For example one review might say that the tire is super quiet and another review says that the tire is noisy and rides rough. Are they talking about the same tire? For example, one of the reviewers here said that the Defenders are the worst tires he has ever owned. Well which Michelin tie are you talking about? Are they referring to the Defender LTX MS or the Defender 2?
I hear you Let me try to clear things up. So basically there are two categories of all season tires ( out of 5 ) The defender 2 (successor of defender t+h) comes in standard touring. They are lighter in weight, and have less voids to tread ratio. The defender ltx ms2 (successor of ltx ms) is a highway touring tire, which is basically the most aggressive all season category and it also has LT sizes ( made for heavier vehicles) After this category you get on to all terrain tires, and enters the ltx at2. You know what go to tiredriver . com and search for categories of all season tires. It will help you a lot. We are actually working with tiredriver btw.
Unfortunately, I don't think most of these tires are available for the N. American market. I only think 2 are. I just shopped for and purchased a set of all-weather tires for my car for use during winter months. I got a good deal on Nokian WRG4. That and the new Remedy G5 are the ones we have available here from Nokian.
Sorry to hear that. I think these tires are available online. Anyways… The Nokian WRG4 is a pretty nice option, I should say. We have rated them as best winter performers in their ultra high performace all season tire category.
I have 3 jeeps 1 one phase open country, other has the fallen, and third has Mickey Thomson , open country are loud as fck, fallen has terrible traction sand, Mickey is quite, the Mickey Thomson is the biggest tire and performs the best in all weather
I’ve had the Weather ready on my Highlander for 6 years and over 33000 miles. Passed PA inspection again. Quiet comfortable ride in all weather situations ( Erie Pa.) Will buy again and strongly recommend.
I’d still stick with Toyo - open country at3 P-metric tires on my 2015 lifted Scion xB. Never go off-road but these tires are amazing. It gives my vehicle a better handling. The little zig zag feels very noticeable, even on rain was more fun while retain control of it. On snow, it does a pretty well job. Not as better as the AT4W. But both are not as the best as the dedicated snow tires: But besides that; these all terrain tires of the open country at3 are perfect for daily use. Had them for 3 years so far. And I love the nice quiet yet deep tone rugged sound of the tread blocks. I love it ❤️🔥❤️🔥 On my lifted xB. They fitted with my 215/70/16. Next time, I’ll get a slightly wider. Like 225/65/16. Next time ❤️🔥🙏🏼
Thanks for the review. BTW if snow performance is important to you, I’d suggest you check out Mickey Baja Boss AT. It’s detailed review is coming on my channel real soon. Meanwhile you can check my list of best all terrain tires (video).
video is very helpful leaning towards the Toyo tire because of the dry performance. any input about these tires 37 in on a Silverado HD with a truck camper
@pancholopez5902 Thanks for watching! Between the Falken Wildpeak RT and Toyo RT Trail, both are strong contenders, but I can see why the Toyo stands out for you, especially with its dry performance. Keep in mind that the larger tire size should give you excellent ground clearance and off-road capability, but it can impact fuel economy and may slightly alter your handling, especially with the added weight of the camper.
Great video, just have to make a decision which to go with need tires by end of month. Here in Canada winters an get out of hand and I live on dirt road which can get pretty muddy and slushy so I am aiming towards the wildpeaks
@@comparethetire those were replaced by the Cooper Stronghold AT tire that just came out in August. I’m curious on how much better the design is of the Stronghold AT tire compared to the old AT3 LT/XLT as well as compared to the rest of the market! There isn’t many reviews yet on the tire yet it seems, but I personally am enjoying them!
We have taken this variable into account. Both tires have thermally adaptive rubber compounds by the way... so the results pretty much remain the same.
I don’t about you guys but the duratrac rt was the worst tire I’ve ran up here in Saskatchewan on our gravel roads and mud lease roads only 42000 km and they are shot. The Chinese brand tires I got atleast 60-70000 km and half the price just my 2 cents
Am running the Falken AT Trails on my 2018 Ford Escape/ Kuga. Much improved on-road and sand/gravel performance over the Continental OEM tyres it came with. Excellent dry and wet handling, with only minimal loss in fuel economy.
Klever RT would have the mountain snowflake, during testing one specific size failed. That's why they added stud predrilled, so you're legal in states like Colorado. I've got 27k on a set of RT tires, they're driven in snow, ice, mountains and offroad. Definitely recommend them to anyone but jeep owners. Wheel base doesn't like klevers on the road.
That’s some good info right there! Sounds like those Klevers handle just about anything you throw at them. Too bad about the Jeep road handling though....think it’s a dealbreaker for Jeep folks?
Speaking from Gen3 Tacoma Off-road perspective... there's Kuhmo and Maxxis. Given the economy, could be fun to compare store brands... Mavis Tire, etc. Weight is important for fuel economy... I'm looking for Passenger, not Light Truck. Anyway...
Sharing my experience: I have the Yoko Geolandar G015 M+S on my Suv (3y old now). Did already more than 70K KMs with no issue: great handling on wet and a lot of fun up to 50cm of snow. Also did different trips in Greece, France, Italy and Switzerland on all kind of surfaces (sand too)...I'll buy them again :)
@@comparethetire Yes, honestly I'm close to 75K KMs and I'm planning to replace them before 80K KMs (still ok but I like to have tyres in perfect condition). About the performance: they are perfect on wet sand (tried many times) but only once on soft sand (I was alone without anyone who can help in case of problems)...they are simply great with ice/snow: tried many times with 50cm of snow during holidays in the mountains...and I only have a Nissan Qashqai/Dualis J10 4x4 (no Low gears) and my G015 are M+S
Yes these tires are really great, aren’t they. We are publishing a new list soon where we are putting this tire as the best on road oriented all terrain tire.
