Kinfire Chronicles is dangerously close to Kingkiller Chronicles.

I really enjoyed this review. I’ve had my eye on this game because of all of the ostensible mechanical selling points and the setting, all of which seem tailor made for my thematic tastes. This video probably saved me some money, but it also fed some of my appetite for that “academic enjoyment of bad games” you mentioned. The politics part really took me by surprise. Oh boy did I not expect this game to include statue-obsessiveness, finger wagging at protesters, and other random fascistic dreck. Aside from all that, I weirdly also can’t get over setting up a whole separate ground mission with a card map just to roll dice until you lose or gain some credits from a happy or sad or curious man or woman. Glad I bought Voidfall instead of this!

The review was already good, but I want to give a second upvote for "Tony Starkers"

Whether this is just good humor, marketing strategy, or a workaround to some publication ban thing, it's pure genius Pure genius!

I fully agree with you. Everyone likes this game especially on BGG and I just feel that’s not a good game just because of too much luck and too much cards and less opportunities to draw more.

Beautiful critical thinking, both of you, Efka and Earthborne Rangers! I would love to see more of this in the world, stories, content, where somebody took his time and understood some things, loved them, created beauty.❤

Hi Efka, thanks for all your great videos, I have been really enjoying your channel for the last few weeks. Really love your enthusiasm, and also the retro music in the background! How do you compare Ankh and Kemet? I haven't tried either yet but have been looking at them both.
@NoPunIncluded
@NoPunIncluded 5 дней назад
completely different games. the setting is the same, and so is the genre, but play feel is very different. can't really compare them. ankh is very tactical, chess like. kemet is splashy powers and big fights.

@@NoPunIncluded Thanks for the reply - I like more tactical games, so will have a closer look at Ankh. Keep up the great work on the videos and take care.

Great review, cant wait until my copy arrives! Also really glad to hear that it plays well at 2 player! I want to add one book to your reqs: Semiosis by Sue Burke. It is a sci-fi story of a bunch of settlers on an alien planet, where each chapter skips forward a generation and each chapter main characters are the kids to last chapters. It really featured interesting takes on living with nature, being part an eco-system and makes you question how actually intelligent non-mammal alien life would look and behave.
@NoPunIncluded
@NoPunIncluded 5 дней назад
I can't believe I didn't think about Semiosis! Or the sequel. You're right, it's a completely spot on match, although I think I would have been a touch apprehensive about recommending it because for whatever reason the book included a very explicit (and unnecessary to the plot or character development) scene that I think felt a bit exploitiative. Otherwise, yeah, what a great book.

Schadenfreude and tears 😂 Watching here from Germany and I enjoy the way you are presenting that game! Didn’t even know that Schadenfreude seems to be well known in English board game situations 😊

Still prefer Arkham Horror lcg. Earthbourne is also great, Just lacks the space for humor with the absurd and the fun of AHLCG.

This is the best explanation of this game's mechanisms that I've seen, I understand the fear of spoiling games like this but you managed to balance things very well. Thank you! Knowing what you know now, could you go back with those decks that do nothing as you said and make them work? Like you know better what is out there so you can seek out things that might make those decks' abilities function better? Or are there just plenty of busted decks based on what you think abilities will do vs. what they actually will do?

Odin is way up there on my list as well. While Age of Innovation isn't, that's likely because I haven't played it yet- because Gaia Project is. My number one is also an odd one since intend to dislike luck in games, but Robinson Crusoe has been my number one for years and I don't see it going anywhere soon.

I think we can see at least some change in the way people perceive colonialism when we look at how israel is being called out for continuously practicing it upon the palestinian people, which has culminated in the genocide happening right now.
