Belt was replaced FOC under the PSA recall last year. It is possible that a software change at the time is responsible for P0011 faults occuuring more frequently since the belt was replaced. Oil of the correct type has been changed at under the specified intervals.
Hi We bought a 3008 petrol in March 2019. We were very happy with it finding it to be a very comfortable drive and had no problems with it. We have serviced it regularly firstly with the main dealer and then with our local garage who has been in the trade for years, does great work and really looks out for us advising of any work he thinks necessary. We took it for its most recent service (about 85000km) in late January and he advised is that there were issues with the timing belts for 3008s and asked us to check with main dealer on when it should be replaced. We rang our main dealer where we bought the car and were advised it needed to be replaced at 200000km or 12 years. We told our guy this and he didn’t agree and strongly advised us to change at next service (100000km) which we agreed to as we trust him. On Wednesday my wife was driving and the car lost power and stopped without warning - no warning lights, nothing. We had it towed to our local guy who told us the engine was gone and needed replacing - most likely because shards had broken off the timing belt and prevented oil lubricating around the engine- it only has 92000km! He advised us to take it to our main dealer as we should not have to pay this cost ourselves - it’s not right given we have serviced it as required and correctly. We did and have been told our car is out of warranty since March and they are contacting Peugeot Ireland to see what they will do given it’s out of warranty. Has anyone else had a similar experience and how did they fare out? We cannot believe this could have happened to a car with just 92000km (57000 miles) with full service history and especially after being told no need to change the timing belt until 200000km or 12 years back in January! Any help would be really appreciated 🤞 Thanks Dan
Should always keep the cable under tension when lowering and lifting, seen many times the cable gets jammed in the mechanism and wheels either get stuck or don't retract the whole way
Stellantis Group have given a 10 year 150k guarantee on the engine, as long as maintained according to the schedule. A possible problem acknowledged, dealt with. All engines, all of them, have potential or latent problems This is a good warranty, never known the like before. The engine has also been re-designed and is in use across Stellantis brands.
Can’t wait get my Nera black edition 2024 3008 GT ceramic coated from new when it arrives in next month 👍🏻😉 I’ve bought the blow dryer should be a doddle keep clean 👍🏻
i like peugeot and citroens but i just wish they made them like they did in 90's ... Really good engines back then , non the less i might still end up buying this or the diesel version of a french car... they are the cheapest options , but also not the least reliable car in my experience, i drove a volkswagen with all sorts of issues , id rather buy a french turd cheaply and drive it to the grave then buy a used VW thats even bigger pile of shit...
I drive a Citroen Xsara Picasso 1,6 gasoline year 2008. Fine engine fine car. My next car will NOT be a Citroen, I do not accept a "Belt in oil" engine. So my next car will probably be a Mazda CX-5. It has a timing chain. But I would rather prefere an External (dry) timing belt, as in my Picasso. Many new engines are crap. Ford EcoBoost is another prime example.
I just bought a second hand 2008 from june 2018. In the video they said that they recalled cars from 2013-2017 for belt problems. Should I still be worried?
This all goes out the window if you have an AdBlue system as the tank is where the spare tyre would go and you just get a mousse canister and an air pump (rear passenger foot well behind left hand front seat) 🤷♂
Is the VTI engine the same as the Puretech, is the belt inside the engine? And does it face the same problems as the Puretech or not really because it's non-turbo?
What's the point of hiding all in this f.cking car? Just to change the spare wheel 45 minutes? Access the lights bulbs same shit. If made simple for drivers it should have been better. Disappointed 😞
