Cool gun. The “upgraded” roll pin covers are a joke. Both of them came off flying with only about 50 rounds. Thinking I’m gonna Loctite ‘em. Other than that, very fun gun to shoot.
I hunted with a 30-06 for all my life, about 15 or so yrs ago Mississippi allowed the 35 for muzzle loader season, i bought a handi rifle and got to work, i now use the cva, its a man for sure Haven't looked back
I believe Mr. Obvious uses Vortex scope rings on about everything, but I will check with him to verify. Most any accuracy issues we were having , can most definitely be traced to the ammo we were using… When we went to Hornaday superformance ammunition, the rifle shot very well.
You still have the tractor? How is it ? Whats your likes and not likes . Subscribed to your channel and like your content. Sho some more of that tractor for us.
I still have the tractor, it has over 600 hrs on it now with zero issues. I highly recommend this tractor for a 30 to 80 acre property. (Anything larger would require more horsepower in my opinion) My likes are the simplicity of the design (very similar transmission and engine setup to a 1970’s Ford tractor) and the extra weight this tractor carries over the competition. What I mean by that is other competitors in the 50 hp range, are lighter and less safe in my opinion. The extra weight helps with the load the tractors is capable of carrying, and stability when bush hogging. The only dislikes I have are the limitations within this horsepower range of tractor… I am running an orchard, and a larger tractor would cut my work time in half. Bush hogging with anything over a 6 foot deck would be dangerous in my opinion. So if you’re opting for a batwing set up, I would go with 75 hp or more. I have loved this tractor so much, that I purchased a Mahindra Roxor as my UTV, I also highly recommend one of those… The utility has been outstanding! Everything being said I would definitely purchase this tractor again if I was in the market for a 50 hp … My next tractor will likely be a Mahindra , but I’m looking in the 75 hp range. Thanks for subscribing, and I hope I was able to answer your questions.
Man awesome review. I purchased a 4540 , got a decent deal on it and its being delivered tomorrow. I have 5 acres of citrus and fruit trees in central florida and the Mahindra is replacing my old ford 3000. Im keeping the ford because it has been in my family since the 1970s. Exact reason i purchased the Mahindra is everything you stated. Tires are coming loaded for even more weight. I figure them people in india dont cut these machines no slack and over there this thing is probably their jd or kubota. Might aswell be mine too. Rock solid work horse and old school with a new engine. Whats not to like. Really glad to hear you have had good use out of yours. Now just gotta come up with a name for it. I think “Dixie” might fit well. Best to you. Im a knife nut also. Love my blades. Ill keep tuning in to your channel.
@johnphinney292 I sincerely appreciate that… Let me know how the 4540 works out for you , I’m sure you’ll be satisfied with your purchase. The funny thing is, I was looking at a Ford 3000 and settled on the Mahindra lol I am very happy with the purchase. It’s been a wonderful tractor and I’m sure you’ll be handing that 4540 down to your kin 😎
@@davidcooper2065 It did… We have used that same target with 300 win mag, 375 h&h and many others… Only the 35 whelen made it through. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@davidcooper2065 there’s not necessarily a benefit to loading them that hot, in fact, we radically lost accuracy… We just did it to be a little controversial, and have some fun with our viewers 👍
@@lastminuteman i'd just like to get a little more range out of it for elk, maybe instead of 300 get it out to 400 with enough speed to reliably expand
The 35 Whelen is quite badass within its range limitations. I like that 200 grain Superformance Hornady load for deer hunting because it hits about like a lightning bolt! It is no joke that my blood trailing skills have been negatively impacted by that cartridge and load because so few deer even take a step after a chest shot! Now, it has a terrible ballistic coefficient and is a relatively looping trajectory beyond about 300 yards, but out to that range it hits like a Mack truck! There is just something about the combination of bullet diameter, relatively low sectional density with 200 grain bullets, and the velocity.
Great video but missed a major point when it comes to design-impact on felt recoil. The shockwave has less felt recoil due to the birds head grip forcing the shooter’s wrist into a better position to handle said recoil. The pistol grip on the maverick makes the recoil way worse.
@@Jack-de3sb That’s good when hip firing, however when aiming, it’s very difficult (for me) to control the birds head grip. That being said you have a different experience and that’s why we have so many options! Isn’t being an American wonderful lol Thanks for sharing my friend
Great review gentlemen! I tried for months to sort the pin issues out with Hatsan and unfortunately, they came up with a cheap fix that doesnt reliably keep the pins in place instead of some solid hardware. I can say that they were gracious enough to send me out of the new forend pump, so I'll put that on and finish my review series of fhe bulltac! Be safe out there! 😁👍
I love my 35 Whelen. I have a H&R Handy Rifle with a 22" barrel. I have a load worked up with a 180gr Barnes triple shock & 3005 fps and hitting 1/2" group at 100 yards. SD @ 7fps and ES @ 11. It did take some time to get this load to this point and even had a few case head cracks (due to a few thousands to much shoulder bump) This is a really under rated cartridge and I am excited about it gathering some steam with hunters. It is a kicker for sure, though it is fun to shoot. Thanks for the video!
Poked a hole through a box elder tree about 13'' thick with my T/C Encore 15" pistol. The pistol loses around 400 ft per second compared to a 24" rifle.
Thanks for the video, it was very informative. Considering that I've been trying to develop a 35 Whelen load with a 200gr bullet that would reach 3050 fps (that mystical 4k+ ft/lbs. ME) for some time now, it was humbling to see that it was done and reassuring at the same time to see that it was done. Great job! What really brought a smile was that I hadn't been using the Sierra RN bullets because Sierra says they developed it specifically for the 35 Remington (another favorite of mine) and because the 35 Rem. runs at much lower speeds thought it would disintegrate on an animal at impact with that velocity. What a joke! From your comments, not only had it not disintegrated on a 3/8" STEEL plate, but it went right through! Wow. Thanks again.
I have the T/C Encore 15" pistol with a .35whelen barrel its a ball of fun. Also have the 45-70 and 22-250 barrels. The craziest recoil came out of the 400gr buffalo bore 45-70.
I've had my 460 Rowland modification on my 1911 Kimber TLE/RL II for the last 8 years now and am completely blown away by its performance. The round is very versatile and powerful and will give any 10mm or 44mag a solid run for its money. Amazing how accurate it is with the copper penetrator rounds. I do recommend getting the Wilson Combat 45acp +p mags since they'll have 8 round capacity and be able to keep the sidearm from jamming since the OEM 45acp mags will have trouble with improperly loading the next round.
@@jameskelley1802 No its a .223 We will give a full review next week 😎 Wish we were a larger operation… Then you would have won something other than my appreciation lol
I meant to add to all that stuff that when I target shoot or check scope zero on a hard kicker like a 444, a use a PAST pad I bought years ago to keep my shoulder from turning purple and yellow. Don't use it hunting because I never feel recoil when hunting. Sure helps, and it'll keep you from developing a flinch
FWIW Paul Harrell's 444 load was a 240gr XTP at 2400fps with H4198 from a 22" Marlin lever. The ones I use have regular optical scopes and are very accurate. Don't know what the twist is with that. My lever is 1-20 so I don't think fps and twist is your problem Good Luck
@@lastminuteman Paul Harrell's video of his chosen deer hunting rifles, and pistol rifle hunting combos (?) tell about his 444 and the ammo he loads. There's a "meat target " video that includes his 444 also
I just found a different Mini shell adapter made by defendertactical that allows you to use the regular 2-3/4 shells and the 3 inch shells at the same time that you are using the 1.75 mini shells I have 2 on their way to me. Just wanted to let you know about it.
For Defense I would be using #3 Buckshot from a 20 gauge. Much better Penetration than Birdshot. Birdshot will make a Ghastly looking BUT shallow wound . Can always test penetration in Ballistic Gel or soaked Newspaper or soaked phone books. Whatever loads you test if they will get you 12 inches or more inches of penetration at a given range then should get enough penetration on any shot with the exception of maybe if you have to shoot through a thick coat or from the side through an arm. And hopefully you never need to use it, But if you do, then you want it to work.
Another good video,No one is coming to save you is right. An EMP will shut everything down. No more gas, electricity,so learn how to survive without Vehicles, cell phones and from food in the wild and food that doesnt have to be refrigerated. Learn how to make imprompto shelters, Learn how to make a simple bow and arrow . How to build a fire when your lighter stops working , water supply etc. I could go on but hope people get the Jist of the matter and start Preparing for the worst. If it does not get that bad great but if it does get that bad then they will already know how to better take care of themselves, their Family and friends. Glad I found your channel
@@lastminuteman Yes,no matter how we prepare there will always be things that cannot be be prepared for or completely prepared for But to be prepared for nothing and depend on nothing but blind luck is definetly not a proper strategy or even a strategy at all.
A little Loctite Indoor Adhesive on both sides of those roll pin covers should hold them in place. This is a weak point of the design. Most pumps rarely need complete disassembly. Removing the roll pins for disassembly is not a good plan. Other than that, I love it! Great in small places.
Buy an Opsol for 20 bucks or less and the Mini shells can be shot reliably from either the Shockwave or The 88. I like the 88 better than the Shockwave because it is lighter, with a better safety location for guns without a stock Easier to aim and cost about half as much. Mine is Not the Cruiser But the regular 20 inch barrel 7+1 88 Maverick Security with stock Removed and Hogue Tamer pistol grip installed . The Hogue Tamer with rubber on the outside of the of the Hardshell where it attaches to the reciever. And a soft internal Gell spot right where the web of the hand sits, Cost about 35 Dollars and well worth it. For precision aiming put a laser on and they can be shot accurately from any gun position. Subbed when I found this Video.
@@billyhenard1473 Thanks for taking the time to comment! I appreciate the suggestions, I definitely agree on the safety situation being better on the 88… Also the laser will be a must for me as well 👍
Great channel with great content! Backbwhen I was on a tear buying new guns, my future ex wife was getting upright about it. I was at the range and I was looking at a rack of rifles, the guy was trying to hide one from me. I ended up buying that rifle. On the way home, I realized my wife was not going to be happy. Thinking quickly, I stopped at my parents' house. I gave the rifle to my mother and asked her to wrap it up and give it to me for my birthday in 2 weeks. My wife was stunned at how generous my mother was! "Yeah, good 'ol mom"! Ten years later I told my ex the truth. Can you believe she still got pissed about it??? Women!!
I added a red dot and this thing is becoming a favorite of mine. Recoil is brutal but I like it. The absolute best buy I've made besides getting my WASR for $300 back in the day.
Just bought a cruiser and bought a raptor grip for $30 so I can see which I like better. Might get the shockwave eventually but for the price seems like you can’t beat a maverick.
