Great shoot and impressive velocity. Thanks for the reference to the Memorial Day for those who lost their lives in service to our Country. Folks should go to a cemetery and pay homage to the graves with a small flag planted in the area which represents the War they fought in. God Bless them all!
I believe that the cartridge & caliber are suited for one another! You get a more efficient burn going down the barrel by increasing the bore size.. at least with this case! I picked up a cva v2 scout a few months ago chambered in 35 whelen. I didn't like the noise generated with the muzzle break! So.. I took it off and fired away 😊 Didn't notice a difference in recoil.. so its staying off! Great job guys.. this is an easy cartridge to fall in love with ❤
I saw D Dg’s vid , really enjoyed yours , gotta laugh “ I’ve been shooting this cartridge for years, got mine in 1988 only ever fired the first box of factory to get the brass’ my pet load is 55grs imr 3031 with 225 partition chugging along at 2680fps !
35 Whelen is No joke. I built a custom 31" rifle on a Savage 110 action, because I read about "frame stretching" on the Encores.. I asked Thompson about it and those babies said "our rifles are built to accept SAAMI spec. ammunition" meaning 58k psi. Real 35 Whelen should be loaded to 63-67k psi. I have a 250gr Speer load that hits 3,000fps+ (5,000 ft. lbs.) with RL17, I won't shoot my steel targets with it. 🤣Thanks for sharing and giving Whelen it's deserved credit. God bless all those that served and risked everything for us.
i just found my kentucky appalachia mountain brush gun and long range field rifle all in one package, not too mention i just fell in love with the 35 whelen, after this video, nothing like a heavy bullet going fast, its time to retire my weatherby 300 magnum, its definately 35 whelen time, hottdamn! i always knew that cartridge had potential too i just never tried it or seen it until now, hey great video brothers 👍 im sorry for your loss mr obvious R.I.P. AR-500 STEEL
My dad had a scout last year for deer season he loved it so much he got one built from a old remington 700 reciver... its beautiful! We are working on getting stuff together to start reloading.... his old scout with factory loads we were dropping deer out to 400 yards.. its pretty impressive
I really hope you start loading for it. I have a ball with 200-250gr hard cast @ 1800-1900 and 180 Speer flat points. The 180' designed for 35rem are explosive in the Whelen for critters n cast are cheap plinkers. My 98 is not finicky with powder either, very forgiving. Have fun!!
Wish I had a chrono because I got gifted some Vhit N133 n worked up some Whelen loads. Crossed 9.3x62 loads using 200 Hdy interlok w/win LRP. I started really low at 55gr and stopped at their max of 59. No primer deformation or ejection sticking at all but will say you know when they go off!!. Would love to know the fps.
