A tip for these wire spring seats is after you strip it down to the metal cage, use some paraffin wax or some motorcycle chain wax on all the areas that the springs wrap around and pivot on. This will get rid of most of the annoying squeaks
I don't understand what he did other than fill in the hole where the column shifter was. Maybe video should be titled converting column shift to floor shift, but then you need to show the floor shift part of the conversion, which I have done myself many times. In my experence I don't know anybody that cared about seeing the stub where the column shifter went after removing the column shifter and converting to floor shift.! This video should be called "Filling the column shifter whole where a column shifter use to be, after converting to floor shift". Just my opinion.
Hello sir, i find a deal for a Corvair 140 (1965) with few problems like "clutch jerk in reverse", "leaking oil on left side of engine when is warm", "some ignition problems". >>> Can you tell me please if the mechanical of this car is complicate or expensive to fix ? Regular mechanics can fix it ? I don't know almost nothing about fixing cars. Thanks
Looks great. I’ve got an 8 door panel van that I’m considering cutting the top off, to build a Rampside pickup. I’ve subscribed and will follow your progress.
I have never seen a Chevelle smashed so bad, you have done magic so impressive and just the way you want it is just how we like. looking forward as a subscriber to your finished project.
Being a first-timer I'm just going to cut it where it is propane welding rods once I fashioned a piece of metal that'll fit perfectly seems to me this will save a lot of time thank you for the DIY very detailed
@@RyansSpeedShop Oh good, its already in there then. Mice made a house out of my rear seat and it makes the car smell BAD as well. This doesn't look too bad of a project... My 66 Chevelle also doesnt have a truck divider either which is strange.
Looks good. I saw a picture of a LM Coupe that someone had taken the roof off of a More Door and put it on the coupe. In my opinion the wider C Pillar really looks great. I can't wait to see your finished car.
Your clutch is chattering due to not enough bow in the bowden tube (the guide tube for the clutch cable between the pan and the transmission) Official Volkswagen Service Manual calls for a bow/sag of 1" to 1.8125". If you do not have enough bow, the clutch chatters. Without the bow the clutch cable will resonate like a guitar string which aids and amplifies the clutch chatter. With a bow in the the tube, it acts like resting a finger on a guitar string which ultimatetly eliminates the oscilation of the cable and stops clutch chatter. This is coming from someone who daily drives aircooleds and works as a tech at one of the more popular aircooled parts suppliers.
I guess he doesn't own a shop vac to at least remove the lose dry rat debris and after give the engine a rinse down with penetrating oil, which I learned working on old air cooled vw engines and seemed to help considerably during disassembly
The pushrod tubes have a real simple tool to remove and install them. You can get it from multiple Corvair parts suppliers. There are also some good adapters for the oil cooler that do a much better job cooling the oil than the stock cooler.
@@RyansSpeedShop You would have been covered in a frozen mist I understand that. I’m enjoying watching the tear down. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
