Hi, I'm Ben and welcome to my channel Detail Base, focusing primarily bringing you satisfying and well informed videos with the occasional bit of humor.
Properly enjoyed that, Ben. I've just realised, I maybe bollock on a little to much prewash onto my wheels too 😂. Car looked lovely though, great effort. All the best 👍.
Absolutely loved that, and not just because of the name check! Nano Magic is such a nice maintenance shampoo, it leaves the a lovely bit of gloss. I also didn't realise I've been bollocking products on for years.
Thanks Adrian 🫡. Yeah really liked nms, especially when it's on offer. 5L of the stuff for something like 35 delivered. Yeah well you know what people are like. You'Ve uSeD hAlF a BotTlE tO cLeAn ThAt WhEeL
Brilliant video Ben!, loved the jokes and how relaxing it was to watch, very impressed with the before/after of that spray wax / glaze, certainly make a difference and a very welcome return to a voiceover , fantastic job mate 💪🙌🏻
Better to pull the plastic wheel arches out and see how much crud is causing that arch to rust.. then spend to money on rust repairs than detailing and products?
Yeah mate 100%. This car already had rust in those places when I bought it so was nothing I could do. But yeah really important thing is to make sure all the shit that sits between the fender and the liner is cleared out regularly.
Really enjoyed this Ben, I still prefer you narrating your videos to this type but it was relaxing to watch, the wheels came up very well as did the silver paintwork in the end shots.
Little belter was that Ben. I do so much enjoy watching others clean an interior, hate doing it though 😂. Anywayx the car came up nice, factory fresh. All the best 👍.
Nice relaxing video although my stress levels were elevated when I saw you battling with that crumb on the gap near the seat runner, nearly a minute you wrestled with it, then a edit point and it was gone 😂 the finish on the interior was first class. 👍🏻
Nice video with some interesting angles, I know how much of a struggle that is to do and keep on top of what you’re doing so thank you for that effort Ben!, very relaxing watch mate 👌
Thanks 😊. I was going to apply some glaco ultra I got from waxstock but ran out of time in the end so just settled for removing residue from previous spray on rinse off type sealants.
I did however use the glaco glass cleaner the next days off camera and that provides some protection, doesn't even remotely compare to the water behaviour from a glass coating but it's still going strong from when I used it on the 13th of aug.
@@DetailBase after a bad experience with RainX, it's taken me a few years to pluck up the courage to have another go. DX really is fantastic, for about 3 months, and no hardship to reapply so I'll be using this stuff for a very long time!
Glad you enjoyed Lee, thanks for stopping by. I'd describe Vb as a boosted green star for exteriors only. The full product name is Vorreiniger B which I think literally translates to precleaner B. I used it at 1:30 in the ik sprayer and 50ml to 950ml in the lance. www.koch-chemie.com/en/products/vorreiniger_b
Pretty much all of the glass compounds are water based so I don't see any harm in using them on wet glass, if anything you're just slightly diluting the abrasives and maybe stopping it from drying out as quickly.
@@SomeMadRandomPerson ahhh unlucky haha. Glad I can provide some time saving though 🤣. Incidentally I have just seen a reel on Instagram by soft99 that shows them using it on a wet windscreen.. But yeah most glass polishes are some combination of cerium oxide and water so you should be safe wet or dry 👍
great video chief! what is the pressure washing you're using? i dont recognise the brand but it sounds very quiet, i hate how noisy from nilfisk c130 is!
Thanks mate, appreciate the comment. It's a grey 10 from direct hoses. I found it's much quieter compared to my old karcher k2, you can also get further away from the pressure washer because it came with a 20m hose.
Who says you need chemicals if you're using steam? Thanks for the comment though mate, good to get a bit of conversation going. How would you choose to clean interiors? Electronics in cars have got to be able to tolerate water to some extent, how many times have you left the door open in the rain only for everything to be fine after?
@@DetailBase "Who says you need chemicals if you're using steam?" - Ehh...Nobody. The steam cleaning you presented in this video was..............ehh.............non present! "How would you choose to clean interiors?" Ehh...simular. Oh, MINUS the smug trying to sound smart about deionized water, while debunking my own agument by cleaning with a chemical. "Electronics in cars have got to be able to tolerate water to some extent" - Correct! But i did not bring that up!?!? "how many times have you left the door open in the rain only for everything to be fine after?" At the moment it is raining outside, i spotted at least 15-20 parked cars outside with open doors, im not worried about the electronics one bit. I am more concerned about the people who leave their cars, with opened doors.🧐 ... yes, asked a weird question! 3:04 The point im making is: You know a thing or two about deionized water. You, not utilizing that knowlege, renders it useless (proven in this video).
@@julientaylor haha you're right I didn't use a steam cleaner. To be fair I was just having a bit of fun with it, those comments I show in the video are from people who are seemingly completely against using steam or chemicals on car electronics, espeically that longer comment which only mentions water or and steam. I for one think using both of those things is on the whole okay once in a while and it sounds like you do too? Always cringes me out to see doors and windows open in the rain too, I always tripple check my car before leaving it. Cheers for the comment though again Julien, take it easy mate.
Pol star is definitely a winner with it’s great dilution ratios and how safe it is on all surfaces. Even trying to film little clips for tests and reels I do is tough so I think you’ve done a great job getting all this well shot footage.
It is fantastic isn't it. Great all rounder. Glad you thought the video came out alright 😂 I was skeptical at the time of filming but seems to be decent.
Brilliant, nothing better than a crisp interior especially on longer drives 👌 PolStar is an absolutely banging interior cleaner. I use a small tripod with flexible legs on interiors because they will do some amazing contorsion-ism for tight spaces. (Oh yeah, I f*@&ing hate those Velcro clips in mine, hard to believe BMW would stick with them 🤷♂️)
Cheers mate, yeah you're right, love having that clean interior feeling. Pol star is just unreal too. Need to see if I can get myself a little tripod like that but not sure if would hold my camera properly 🤔 Glad someone agrees with me, the velcro but that is supposed to be in the car keeps coming off too so the Matt slides up the pissing accelerator pedal 😂
Brilliant video Ben!, you managed to film an interior when interiors are so impossible to film 😤 Yes indeed poor old caustic APC has been used on your interior but I’m glad that pol star has sorted that out , those scrub pads are as bad as magic erasers on leather but they are excellent for hard plastic areas like the sills Great tip using the warm air blower seems to do best job on the mats , do you think they are the original ones for the car?, and I’m surprised you don’t like the Velcro fixings , I love how they give a clean look to the mats without seeing clips Great job tho mate, car looks amazing now but who has ‘flour’ in their boot 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you Graeme 🫡. Should of seen how I filmed the pull in and out shots 😂 had the camera on the tripod and was using it like a stick. I think the garage I bought the car from takes it to a scratch and shine for the prep so that may be the culprit 🤔 Nah I hate those mat velcro things, they keep coming off and the mat slides up the pedals 🤦
Great result! Many detailing content creators don’t talk much about the products or their processes during videos and it’s quite boring to watch. It’s great that you do, it makes it much more interesting 👍
Nice content. Im going to start cleankng much later in the evening, just a lot easier, perhaps not as late as you did 😂. I'll be at my first Waxstock this year. Hoping to pick up some bits from a lesser known brand, a smaller brand, any suggestions? All the best 👍.
Thanks again Lee. Yeah man I love a bit of late night cleaning, probably would of been fine if I wasn't filming but oh well 😂. Oh great, should be a really good event again this year, mind you saying that I've not got tickets yet. Hard to say really, have they released a list of brands that are there? Trouble is some of the smaller brands can't afford a pitch there :( I hear good things about squid ink and I'm a fan of frank with constellation chemicals.
@Detail Base I'm not aware if the stall holders are listed tbh. Squid ink is definitely a company I'd have a look at and only in the last few weeks someone else mentioned constellation, so that's a good shout, thank you.
How you finding the water behaviour on the si02 one? Hasn't rained since I put it on. Really found it useful having an actu qd for once too, quick wipe down the day after is just what they're good for.
@@kevinb7058 tried to use it as a wet coat once 😶 nothing happened 😂. Might have to get some of the normal one too then for just tidying some things up. Will do mate appreciate you watching and commenting 👍🏻
Car looks mint Ben!!, some brilliant tips like the microfibre on the tyres and the water spot remover to spruce up the exhaust tips 👌 Thanks for the mention for the channel mate 👌🤩
I had to rewind to check was that ‘A bastard reservoir in my glove’ 😂 .. also approve of the boot lift to see slickness of the towel sliding off. Finishing shots look great 👍🏼
Maybe I'll have a more thought out test next time haha, just sort of did it without thinking of actually comparing it to anything. Glad you liked the video tho Nick 👍🏻
Hiya Kevin. I love it man, just need to do an oil change but overall in really happy with it. I too noticed how quiet it was, it is much quieter than the karcher k2 I had before.
