It’s a crying shame what happened to that brand. Once was the very best shoe you could buy at any price. Now they’re crap made in India and china.

Master classes were what they were back in the day, when the instrument was newer to the world. Today... nope. The master class was full of accomplished musicians , auditioning before a master to get his approval.

I know this is a very very old video but I am extremely impressed with it because I started watching shoe shine video's 6 years ago on the Elegent Oxford channel and in all those 6 years I have watched hundreds and hundreds of shoe shine/shoe clean videos from loads of different shoe shine content creators from around the world and this video is the ONLY one I have seen that has done a FULL clean and shine of the shoe. Not one video has done a clean of the inside of the shoe or the sole of the shoe. Shoe shine should have a standard but it doesn't because everyone cleans shoes differently. Many do not brush dirt off the shoes and many that do do not wash off dirt off the shoe. There needs to be an international shoe shine standard so when someone goes to get their shoes shined they know it is being done to a universal standard.

thank you very much for your kind words! This video was made right after I came back home from work. The workshop was also in need of a cleanup and reorganization. Additionally, I believe shoecare must be thorough inside out with no corners cut. This video was made specifically with the same mindset. I'm not the first to ever share any thorough shoeshine videos but I am proud that my method stays true and honest. I've seen far too often all these "shoeshine influencers" doing some super fancy camera work and narration to fool everyone into doing partial work and gain more followers. Some of those I shared my method with. Some have been doing exactly some of the steps I do. I haven't made many videos and shoeshine for the last few years. I'll try to resume making more, soon! The care must be thorough inside out and no corners cut.

Maybe this will make you smile. Last week my friend told me that when his father died years ago he left him 2 guitars. He put them in storage because he does not play. He did not know details about the guitars but said they were Ramirez brand and that his dad played classical music. He said the strings were in bad shape. I offered to put new strings on for him. Imagine my surprise when I discovered he had a 1969 Ramirez 1A model with Brazilian rosewood made in the Ramirez shop ! The other one was a 1970s model. I explained to him what a treasure he had and offered to teach him beginner guitar. I hope you enjoyed the story.

@@newinspiration2108 He now understands the value of the guitars. He has not yet decided on taking lessons with me or not. I think I heard the 69 Ramirez whisper to me '"Thank you, I've been waiting years to be played again."

I just purchased a new pair from eBay seller. I conditioned them first. Polished them second. I don't think I will wax them because of the perforations. You could talk as you show us each step and each new product.

Segovia lent his concert guitar to a spectator in order for him to copy its dimensions. His name was Georg Bolin, of Sweden. I have a guitar built by him in 1953, and signed, and it has the name Var, with a circle over the a. I believe it means Spring. The guitar has an interesting history. I bought it used via on-line from a shop in S.F. USA. It had been stolen from there and suffered a crack, which was repaired. It is spruce and rosewood, and I think it sounds magnificent. I was inspired to learn, listening to Segovia Recently, some commentator said that the young generation has surpassed him in technique. I see a few on the web who are quite good, and at least one who slaps his guitar as much as plays it, and while entertaining in a way, does nothing for my soul. Segovia hits the soul spots and that can't be done by just any old body. There are a zillion electric aficionados out there, bending and fuzzing their way into an emptiness of shallow nowhere-ness. It helps if they have nice hair and boobs.

i grew up listening to john williams playing bach without excessive rubato and vibrato and i always find segovia interpretations of bach a little over romantic. not that i don’t appreciate his monumental contribution to transforming the guitar into a concert instrument.

I met Minella only a few years ago in a Guitar shop 3 or 4 times. He was still playing and recording. His daughter Is a world class violinist. We only spoke briefly, a quiet, soft spoken gentleman, he laughed only once when I told him that a friend of mine justified a bad mistake saying he was playing but not listening. He left us only last year. Fred Benedetti who plays for Segovia in one video gave me a few lessons. Back from the masterclass he told one studenti how thrilling It was and the kid asked :" Is Segovia that old guy on the string packs?"

Look at those huge hands playing a 660 mm scale Ramirez which requires great strength and add great technique and amazing musicality and you have the tip of the iceberg of how great this man is . Of note ,he never is involved as to who the luthier is knowing that musicality will make a mediocre guitar sound better . So many guitarist including myself thought that owning that Ramirez would make you Segovia . A sad lesson learned . Thank you for this video %

I had a Ramirez and the neck was an absolute torture to my girly short and slim hand and fingers! Many of the famous maestros who've been popularizing Ramirez guitars really have round, big, and fat fingers with enormous strength.

Right, so, put water and saddle soap on the brush, then knock some of the saddle soap back off the brush, into the inside of the upside down lid of the tin, then scrub every bit of the shoes except the bit inside the foot arch of the right one. Then wipe it off. Got it.

You can see that is a talented Bottier, but at the same time, you have to say that this is a breadless profession. There are hardly any customers who are willing to pay a lot of money for this work and old tradition. Today people want to wear casual clothes and this requires a rethink also in shoemaking, you should make lightweight leather shoes that are as comfortable as Nike sports shoes that you can wear from the first day without breaking in. This would be a whole new direction in the shoemaker art and the craft could flourish again and would also interest young people in this profession and I am sure the shoemaker guild could survive. Thank you for this great video and these super beautiful shoes, it is a feast for the eyes to watch. Many greetings from Thailand Peter

1:28:26 -> this is a gigue by Manuel Maria Ponce, not Sylvius Leopold Weiss. But Segovia knew that because he was the one who told the guitar world for a time that some of the pieces that he commissioned from Ponce were in fact "rediscovered works by Weiss", He must have had a good laugh during the masterclass.
