Great idea using the pinking shears. I donate all my flies & use glued-in foam & washed takeout containers to create fly storage boxes for any larger flies that won’t fit in the small, cheap boxes I purchase. The users then transfer their selected flies to real fly boxes onsite.
Easiest explanation ever. I always did these by hand. 30 years ago all I had was books and it never work. I took my whip finisher and bent it to death with pliers and then cut it into pieces with wire cutters out of frustration back then, just so I’d never do it again. 😂 Just got back into tying flies and that was easy. I watch 4 other videos and got no where. Thanks!
Yes we are all proud of our tying place but why do 100s of Americans feel the need to film them then sit there with a drink telling us about their bit and bobs.
Interesting conversation. The part about asking questions not related to gear stood out to me. I only have one season under my belt with Tenkara and know I’m not a good caster. The problem is I don’t know anyone who fishes Tenkara and all my western fly friends do what you mentioned with the nymph and indicator. I think it’s difficult to find help without paying someone. Sure you can watch videos online but that only goes so far. I think this leads to the gear questions. If I can’t get help then I should at least not have sub par gear holding me back.
In the mid-2000s, GoreTex refused to sell any manufacturers their product if they also manufactured anything with eVent. So, GoreTex spent a lot on marketing and also strong-armed their customers into only buying GoreTex so that they could show how they sold more fabric than the competition. But, quantity does not necessarily equal quality.
For a background screen, I use either white 60 lb printer paper (light card stock) or 1/8" foam sheets from the craft store. The foam sheets are 8.5" x 11" and come in a lot of colours, including yellow, beige, and green. They are also great for tying foam hoppers.
I thoroughly enjoy seeing the desk of a fellow fly tyer. And that desk is just fantastic! I tie at my great uncles fly tying desk that I was given upon his passing, having a dedicated space definitely adds to the enjoyment. I too enjoy a pipe, albeit not while I tie in the house. What is your go to blend, or blends? You have a great collection of pipes! Cheers, Alex
Very nice ! Great set up, I remember many, many years ago watching your videos regarding backpacking, the bushbuddy stove, and backpack reviews ! Great to see you,and your doing well, Peace ✌️
