i always play scoia tael with biting frost perk versus monster decks. doesn't matter if they have the commander's horn perk or the medic one, the monsters are mostly close ranged units so biting frost is always handy with scoia tael because you can just load up on ranged cards and a commander's horn. Also, the Novigrad cards are bugged in the gwent book because Thaler counts as two cards for some reason
Gonna go through all these gwent videos to try and understand. Gwent is like a foreign language to me, I still don't understand how you won a round when only playing 2-3 cards when I've literally played all my cards in a single round and lost that round and having no cards for the next round losing that one automatically. Does siege cards eliminate all close combat cards or something? No matter who I've played I ALWAYS lose lol. Playing all my strongest cards with 8-10 point values does nothing. Only reason I'm trying gwent is to clear these secondary quests that have me playing gwent and participate in tournaments before I start new game plus. Anyways this video has been the best and easily explained, thank you for the time you put into these videos.
Thank you so much for watching this video- I’m so glad it’s helping to some degree!! 🥰 Not sure I’ll be able to answer all of your questions because it’s difficult to do so without seeing the specific hands of you/your opponent, but I’m going to do my best! 🫡 1) The only cards that “eliminate” others are cards with the “Scorch” ability, which will destroy the highest point value cards on the battlefield or in a particular row (depending on which card is used). Weather cards (Biting Frost, etc) can reduce the point values of all cards in a given row down to 1 point each, however, so those are cards to be on the lookout for because they can easily lower all of your points drastically! 2) I can’t presume to know what your opponents are playing, but I’d wager they might be using some “spy” cards? They have an eye 👁️ symbol on them… they’re REALLY strong because although they get added to *your* side of the battlefield, they allow your opponent to draw an additional card to play for the future! 3) Sometimes, Gwent isn’t necessarily about how many points you put down in a particular round, but the “card advantage” you get/maintain throughout. Like you said, you can’t even try to win the second round if you’re all out of cards! So, if you know that you’re going to lose, make sure to save as many cards as you can for round 2- just one strategy I like to use ^^ Hopefully these little tidbits of info help you, but definitely feel free to check out my other videos as well! I have a “Top 5 Tips” video that I think will be exceptionally helpful for you, as well as videos on each of the card factions (minus Skellige… not sure I’ll get there tbh 😅) Let me know if you have any more questions and I’ll do my very best to help! ^^
General advice: For your party in the Character record section you can change how the AI reacts in "Behavior". There are only 2 things you really should do and the rest is optional. 1. Lower their stamina/mana reserve to 0%. This allows them to fully use their full mana or stamina pool for their skills often allowing them to use 3 or 4 skills on the cooldown cycle as opposed to 1 or 2. More skill usage = more damage and support 2. Change their targeting to "Follow" and select their own character. Varric following varric will usually stay ranged and out of danger while the default varric following "controlled character" can sometimes make him run into a group before shooting. Having characters follow themselves is a general safe rule of thumb though some more complex methods can create a better strategy. Potion usage is up to you!
16:00 The shards you can find through the skulls are quest items you can use at a later time to give yourself permanent buffs based on how many you collect. Not necessary but it makes a noticeable difference in the later stages of the game and especially the DLC
11:45 Enhanced Twin Fangs ring: There are rings that "Enhance" every skill in the game and they are very rare to get as a drop. I dont think you can buy them and dont bet on getting a duplicate as it is rare. I advise holding onto all of your "Enhanced _____ skill" rings for later once you develop a groove for your playstyle and want to boost your favorite skills. Later in the gsme you will get a storage chest to hold all the pesky items you cant use atm but dont want to sell
08:45 You can see the character portraits at the top left Intermittently show a yellow upwards Arrow over the face, this means that character has unused skill points. I highly recommend using skill points to strengthen you and your party anytime you can. More skills = Stronger team. Personal suggestion- Cassandra is your only warrior character at the moment so i recommend giving her vanguard skills to taunt and tank for the team. War cry and Livid are great for this. Varric can provide support with damage and knockdowns from explosive arrow and full draw in the archery tree Solas can master nearly any role well in early game but upgrading barrier with "elegant defense" and from the frost skill tree getting "mana surge" works great in combo together before offensive spell types of your choice
04:50 These lovely goats are called August Rams, they are nearly impossible to kill with melee as they run faster than you can, i advise swapping to a character with a bow or staff to begin hitting it from a distance and thus making your party members attack it as well. There is also a VERY SPECIAL Ram on the southern shore of Lake Lucius that is a different color being more gold and red. Do not kill this special Ram as its part of a quest for later. Lake Lucius is a little bit to the west of the starting camp you first spawned at.
At 02:30, these camp agents will give out radiant missions to fulfill requistions. None of them are ever mandatory and only serve to boost the inquisition's influence by a small amount. I highly recommend NEVER filling the quests given by camp NPC because more often than not, having the raw resources for crafting are much more useful than gaining some influence especially in the early game.
The joke at 00:30 refers to Varric's book. He is the author of a popular mystery series called "Hard in Hightown". With Scout Hardings name, Varric made a joke that if she had visited she would be Harding in Hightown which was cringe enough to make Cassandra groan haha. For some Lore, Hightown was one of the districts within the city of Kirkwall which is the home of Varric. This area can be explored in the second Dragon Age game where you play as Hawke, the champion of Kirkwall. Varric is a city boy through and through. He was only brought to the inquistion because Cassandra had interrogated Varric to find out where Hawke was so he may help restore order after the destruction of most national leaders at the Conclave.
Hey Devi! Glad you are giving inquisition a try! I can help guide you through some parts of the game if you want! I'm a vet of the game playing dozens of playthroughs and know my way around the dlc content, bugs, exploits, gameplay, team combo and synergy and so much more. Also am very willing to share any lore implications if interested Do you only post these videos or do you also livestream it?
My apologies for the late response! Thank you SO much for asking in advance, I greatly appreciate it (backseat gaming can be a very sensitive topic sometimes)! I just started livestreaming DAI with some of our RU-vid members last week, and we’re due for another streaming session soon 😊 While joining the program is certainly an option, I don’t ever want anyone to feel pressured to do so, so I always upload the edited VODs here afterwards. So, I don’t mind if you’d like to delve into lore explanations or provide helpful tips/combat suggestions in the comments underneath a video in the future (I greatly welcome it!), but of course do understand that it might be a bit of a delay with how the videos are recorded/released… so, I might not be able to adapt to suggestions or feedback immediately because of that 😅
Spy cards and decoys are insane because they create card advantage. Even if you only use decoy on a normal card without special effects, it will force a decision from your opponent to commit another card on the round or pass the turn. Playing from behind, with as much information as possible, has enourmous value in gwent.
FUN FACT ABOUT THE HORNS!!!! I just found out, when you have this Mod with the Horns that have these accessories: If you use the ones without BUT buy the accessories from your local trader and put them on, you can use dye on them!!! Now my Necromancer has some sick black and silver horn accessories with a dark green band with golden sparks in it instead of the red!!! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Hope you can understand. English isn't my first language.
This is a REALLY easy item to miss. I played a LOT and still didn't get it, because I learned about the ring you gotta pickpocket AFTER finishing the clown quest in my last run, and that triggers te circus to leave.
You can also succeed in a perception or insight check i believe. And you have an option as a bard to try to distract him while he spins the gatcha i think its for bards? A preformance check, And yes he gets super pissed off when you do win
I could be wrong, but even though you succeed in a perception/insight check, I still think you have to pickpocket him to find out the “how” of what’s causing the fixed wheel… otherwise, he simply turns you into cheese if you complain 👀 LOL But, maybe I didn’t select a particular dialogue option correctly to cause the alternative(?) Not sure! I might have to look into it again and really test these options out 😅
@@DeviantDreamers oh I never pickpocketed him but managed to get him pissed off enough to send me there anyways just for succeeding a roll to know that he's cheating when you first sorta try to roll
@shiguriyamamo6730 ooh interesting!! It must be a particular dialogue choice then… last time I tried it that way, I was turned into cheese 😭 LOL I’ll figure out the specifics tomorrow and see what exactly it takes to trigger that- thanks so much for letting me know! :)
I've been meaning to comment, but I've been rather busy. I finally found time, so I Gwent ahead and did it. ;) Glad you're having fun and posting content you're passionate about. <3
The Fade is the spirit world in Dragon Age, the place people go to when they dream. Mages draw power from the Fade in order to use magic, attracting the attention of demons.
i will say a fair amount of people got into da playing da;i first but some of the biggest charm about these games is carrying on world states from earlier games and decisions you make in the world impacting future games directly baulder's gate isn't like that like dragon age is so you'll definitely want to go back to get more lore and info about the fade etc. in earlier games da:i really does just assume you know everything pretty much
I suppose it’s similar to Witcher in a way as well regarding continued save states and picking up on small details/references throughout. If I do end up enjoying this game enough by the end, I’ll make sure to go back and play the others as well for sure. Thanks for the insight! :)
You can also get to the basement with any feather fall effect. Way of Shadow monks can get halved fall damage and can use shadow teleport/invisibility to get back safely without ever interacting with Bernard
Yup! I’d heard about Feather Fall/Misty Step as well- haven’t tested it out myself yet, though! Have yet to play WoS monk, too… maybe someday soon- I’ve heard some really awesome things 👀
You can also Misty Step through the stairs above the hidden door to the secret basement. Though I did this a couple of patches ago, so it may not be possible anymore.
I’ve also heard Feather Fall is possible as well! Haven’t tested either of them out yet, but might give it a go in my next run just to see if they haven’t patched that option out 😂
Of course!! Glad to help! ^^ There are actually several ways you can go about getting the ring from Bernard and/or finding the basement, but I like this one best 😂
If you arnt honor mode running you can kill your companions. Have someone like Karlach carry their corpses. Head on in to Dino forrest then revive them
There are so many possibilities~ 👀 hahaha If you don’t have the ring and accuse him of cheating, that’s where the cheese wheel kicks in. The Djinni Ring is essential to the “jackpot” prize (jungle) because you’re finding out how Akabi is cheating (Mage Hand)! :)
Me, investigating the torches: wtf is the point of this? *Sees this* OHHHHH now I'm annoyed lol I literally spoke to her and was like okay cool why would i destroy them then 😅
I almost did the same if it's any consolation! But, then, a cheeky little part of my brain went: "...what if I destroy the torches to f**k with everything?" 👀 XDDD
I honestly meant to include it and totally forgot at the last second, I’m so sorry! 😭 It’s right by the area where you find the slaughtered Tieflings and the Meazels if that’s any help 🥺
@@DeviantDreamers that’s huge help thank you so much, working on a mortal kombat reptile Dragonborn shadow monk build and this ring is so perfect for it, you got yourself a sub
Glad to hear it!! I’ll make sure to keep including maps in the future 😅 Oooh nice!! 👀 Might have to ask more about that once you have the build finalized because I’m curious now… and thanks so much- appreciate it! :)
This one is inconsequential, but my favorite: Theres a hole in the ground just North of the Blighted Village, on the other side of the Windmill's wall next to the stone staircase. Inside the hole is a red book, a scimitar, and a lamp, but the book opens up and has a bottle of liquor in it. I now use the book to hold all my spell scrolls ✌️
Not to my knowledge- I’d only found it in my second playthrough, though, which I believe I started back in October… so, perhaps it wasn’t that way upon full release? Not positive!
Yes!! I have a few of the “hidden items” shorts lined up to publish in the immediate future, but maybe I can include that as a “combination” item somehow 👀 Thanks for the suggestion, and I’m glad this helped a bit! 🥰 Will be sharing more in the very near future! 🫡
It’s one of his cutscenes at camp in Act 1- one of my recommendations to trigger it would just be to take a lot of long rests and make sure his affection is reasonable (Medium or higher, most likely)!
@@DeviantDreamers Thank you for the quick response, I've got literally hundreds of hours in the game, most in act 1. Just shows how much content bg3 has packed into it. Neil has five hours of voice lines alone. Enjoyed the vid, funny editing.
@mulqueen2023 of course!! And not, do I feel that… there is SO MUCH to explore, and I feel like I’ll never be done with this game 🥲💜 so glad you enjoyed the video- thanks for watching! ^^
@@DeviantDreamers Guaranteed I'll be watching more, your style is fun and witty. Plus you've shown me so many lines I've never heard before, just encouraging me to explore more and do more. That's the best possible outcome. I would consume an Astarion video, for future reference, I think everyone would 😆
@mulqueen2023 thank you so much!!! I’ve been working on an Astarion one in the background (he’s honestly the easiest character for me to find “funny lines” with), but it may not be ready for a little while, as I’m also trying to branch out with content creation a bit at the moment. I will certainly do my best to get it out within the next couple of months, though! 😊
