When Michael asked for Sollozzo to guarantee that there would be no further attemtps on his father's life, Sollozzo diverts instead of providing a guarantee. Back home, Michael, Sonny and Tom most likely discussed a potential truce if Sollozzo offered the guarantee. You can see that the moment he diverts and doesn't provide the guarantee, that is basically when Michael knows that he has to definitely kill Sollozzo.
The restaurant meeting would never have happened. Sollozzo would never have agreed to meet with Michael - a known murderer - just days after trying to kill Vito.
I love that Sollozzo’s perfect Italian was used as an intimidation act towards Michael because Sollozzo thought that Michael was nothing more than an American brat who was only sent there as a mediator
The way the singer pronounced jivin doesn't like it so over the yrs people have heard what THEY think it is & it stuck. In Sister Sledge's song Greatest Dancer there is a part where she says "oh what wow he's the greatest dancer. To me i thought she said "i wonder why..." because it sounds right to me. I say it my way because i like it.✊🏾☺️
One thing I always wondered about is what happened to Sollozzo's driver who took them all to the restaurant? Wouldn't he have been instructed to wait for them outside to pick them up? Where was he? If he was close by wouldn't he have heard the shots and saw Michael running out?
I think it was a huge mistake not to show English captions for this scene in the original movie. This dialogue between Sollozo and Michael is germane to the rest of the movie, but yet wasn't translated for the viewing audience for some strange reason. Thanks for translating!
It was definitely good to show English captions, maybe it was intentional so we see their faces and jestures instead getting distracted by reading the subtitles. But the dialogue was really important because as I understood from the book Michael still had a little bit of hesitation for the killing and when he asked Solocco to guarantee his father's life he knew then and there that they wouldn't stop until his father's dead. And that erased his doubts about killing Solocco and the captain. But that part of their conversation was in English nonetheless so the most important thing was translated, the other things said weren't that essential to the story even without understanding exactly what is said.
Sollozzo made a mistake. He should have frisked Michael after he came out of the bathroom. Whenever someone is out of your sight, they have an opportunity.
I think theres some implications here because "uomo d'onore" man of honor can also mean a made man in the mafia. It is a way to call a member kf mafia in italy
Wanna know something funny, if that toxin makes you fully immobile that means the second Lana has to go to the bathroom she won’t be able to hold it in
Sollozo speaking Italian since he’s from Sicily Italy 🇮🇹 Michael Corleone understood what he said declaring to have a peace treaty with the Tattaglia Family more like a Truce Michael denied it have a gun smuggled into the toilet in the restroom as a payback to kill both of them
