Hello, The Building Expert, while re-inserting the new cart it does not just slip all the way in, it stops approx. an inch or so with strong resistance. What can I try to do to get this to go all the way down do you think?
I have a small laundry space. I need to make it wider. My hot and cold shut off valves stick out from the wall 2.25 to 2.5”. Can I install a box like the one on the wall that is recessed?
How come the second one, deep base strainer, does not need putty or silicon? The part that attaches to the sink looks exactly like the ones that come after. Thank you sir
The hose clamp method works EXCEPT you need to rotate the clamp at least once because the screw cage protrudes beyond the line of the clamp and will push your blade out of alignment. Also, for safety reasons it's better to be cutting with the pipe suspended over a bench or board and not your knee.
Drill some long screws in 2x4, pre sweat your adapters or brass for dielectric unions. Ez peasy, no soldering next to threaded connection without even a wet rag necessary. And gottam you buried every thread lol
The only surprise to me was the use of pipe dope. What brand do you recommend? I stopped using pipe dope when it basically glued in an adapter to my water pump (over 15 years). I could not remove it with a pipe wrench. I like the way you applied teflon tape - leaving the first thread bare metal. Thank you.
If you have a lot of joints to do pressing is way faster. If your a diy and don't have a few grand to spend on a press tool do the solder cheaper just as good, but takes longer.
Easy way it to use a wide rubber band. Mark hot many inches from the end you need to cut in four places. Put the rubbed band around the pipe and pinch the extra so it’s tight, and move it to where your marks just show. Using a permanent marker mark all the way around the rubber band. Take the band off and make your cut.
thank you, we are in a situation where we added a tailpiece in between the strainer and the p trap for the dishwasher to hook up, now the p trap is about 1/2 '' too far from connecting to the drain. have you ever seen a very shallow strainer, say 1.5'' high? to help give more clearance
