How come the second one, deep base strainer, does not need putty or silicon? The part that attaches to the sink looks exactly like the ones that come after. Thank you sir

Thank you for this hugely informative video! I discovered a few mistakes I made on installation before I even turned the water on! (mainly under tightening and insufficient putty).

thank you, we are in a situation where we added a tailpiece in between the strainer and the p trap for the dishwasher to hook up, now the p trap is about 1/2 '' too far from connecting to the drain. have you ever seen a very shallow strainer, say 1.5'' high? to help give more clearance

Plus Teflon tape need to be done on the threads

Thank you! I didn't realize the deep basket version didn't use a friction ring and uses a foam seal instead of putty 😒. I assume I can use putty and buy a friction ring(?)

Most of these idiocies are dry test. One must always do the water test before handing over any plumbing jobs
