I remember that Christmas well. I was 9 and we were homeless. Sleeping in a basement shelter a baptist church provided for us. We had to move from one place to another every week. I remember they rented Back to the Future on VHS so we could watch it. My eyes were glued to the TV the whole time. We were fed and clothed and church parishioners even chipped in to get my siblings and I gifts. They even took us christmas caroling to a bunch of really nice houses. I found it to be a tease. But I wasn't jealous. I remember wishing I had a home just as nice though.

I was 4. I got the A-Team van and some of the characters. i Also got a pound puppy, a stuffed animal that was popular for a short time. It was way better than christmas 84 for me because I understood better what was going on, the night before we left pecan sandies for santa. Later it occurred to me that is my dad’s favorite cookie. Lol.

Thanks for the memories and the nostalgia! I love this series. I think this was the Christmas I have the fewest memories of. I remember the ones before and after more clearly but I think it also blurs with '87 to be honest. Definitely felt the shift from TF and GIJoe after this year when it came to toys. The shows were winding down as well alongside He-man, even though he was less relevant by now. I think this was the year I got a few MASK vehicles because of that.

Christmas '88, I was 9 and had/was going through some significant life changes. The neighborhood we lived in was changing up and kids were moving out. Many friends were gone for good and others were moving to different parts of town, as well as getting a few new ones. However, it always felt like more were leaving than coming in (and my family would move the next summer). My sister was two months old, so it was her first Christmas. It was the first without my Grandfather who had passed just weeks after my sister was born. It affected me deeply because we had such a great relationship, and my mother had only recently remarried so he was the most significant adult male role model in my life at that time. He used to brew beer, and his last batch was drunk in celebration/memory of him that Christmas Eve with everyone there.

But that's what it was like sometimes lol. We didn't even get an NES until like 90/91 lol.

🎄Christmas🎄is the best time of year. One more memory of my childhood Christmases was actually in books or catalogs. The JC Penny's Christmas Catalog and the Sears Wish Book. Those two catalogs would bring so much joy to a kid. Paging through every single page, front to back, picking the best toys you hope to get for Christmas. I can remember Mom taking me to Southridge Mall and I had only two destinations, JC Penny's and Sears, well maybe Kay"🅱️"Toys too. LOL. The 80's still had the catalogs, but I was a teenager(13) by 1980. I did still like to see the Video game sections. I used to love to shop for my Mom and Dad, and especially my Grandparents. Those were some really wonderful times. In 1982 my Grandpa, who helped raise me, had a massive heart attack and passed away on November 13th, 1982. That was a rollercoaster year for me. The Brewers had won their Division, then they won the American League title and were headed to the World Series! I was beyond excited! Then they lost to the St.Louis Cardinals 4 games to 3. And a few weeks later my Grandpa passed away. That was a tough year and probably why I see the 70's Christmas as a "better" time for me. But Christmas was special for us. As a little kid it's more "eventful", more exciting, and more special. Then in the mid 90's my Mom passed away on December 5th. And a 2½ years later on the 4th of July my Dad lost his battle with Cancer. The Holidays for me after 1982 started to slowly lose a little joy. Again it's why I see the 70's as being so much more special and wonderful for me. It was the last decade where I had my entire family together. That said, I really do love these videos, no matter what the year it is. There are some good memories from most every year, and these videos bring those memories back. Thank you.
