I have had some time to re discover my hobby which I have wanted to get back into for many years but just hadn't found the time. I only used my model railway when my father had made it for me when I was little and once I was renting at the last property I was living in I only had some boards out and laid the track out.
So now these videos are me for the first time laying a railway down permanently and enjoying the process of learning all about model railways in a new way. I've been spending alot of time researching in books google and RU-vid to help me in my early journey into model railways. Hopefully I help some of you watching while I discover what to do over my videos I release.

Beautiful Cat..! Nice job with the Kit too. Always wanted to have a Go at Fitting Motor & Running gear to a Kit..! I do love a Shunter & am fond of Building Kits too.! I just always Wondered if the Heat from the Motor would Warp the Plastic, with Time or Running to Long..? But You just inspired me to give it a Go. What the Hell, I will just have to Buy Another Kit, if it Does..! Cheers Tris. From a Rather Wet & Cool Downunder. 🦘🐪🦘🦎🦘
Hi mate, I'm in Australia and I'm actually modelling the Severn valley railway, Kidderminster Bewdley and bridgenorth stations all 3 as close to actual scale size as I can, I'm wondering if I could buy the files for your Bewdley station so I get someone here to print it for me... Also wondering if you could adapt it to the full size per the prototype as I have almost the full length available on my platform. Would appreciate if you could get back to me when you are free. Cheers
Hi Tris, I've been following this series closely and it's motivated me to start a small shunting layout myself. Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to the future episodes
Thanks for a great video yes I watched it all the way to the end lol 😂 great stuff please don’t stop it’s because of you I’m getting back into this lovely hobby thank you I’m making at shunting yard for my first layout it’s in the early stages nothing as awesome as yours but I am in Devon so it’s GWR cheer Tim 😊
I have Just started my layout boards are in place around spare room so need bridge for door way its really big ? But feel I need advice ? Planing for two years Just started fixing track down.
Great vid but gutted! Thought this was looking like the answer to designing and building arches for my scratchbuild but the cad design section was already done! As a beginner, I'd love to see how you designed the arches from start to finish!
brass oxidises quite quickly, you might be best trying to find some gold plated wire, the plating is far softer but is far more conductive and being plated you can also gain other properties which other single type wire doesnt offer also did you ream the conrods to suit the OD of the 10BA screws?
with the black I find the Vallejo Model Air Black is nicely diluted to brush on without too much streaking and not so thick that you lose detail, the Etched Plates from Fox are fantastic, I have changed all of my West Countries and Battle of Britains to use Fox Etched Names and Plaques and its such a night and day difference
I'm having to move my model railway into the loft due to circumstance's, watched your vids for a while, this one seemed the best one to post this comment on. Have you had any troubles with having it in the loft, track warp due to extreme heat in the summer ect? Its the main thing worrying me, but the loft is my only option if i wish to carry on with the hobby..... Which of course i do!!
Great Work, Well done. I have 2 rather early Hornby Loco's & a Lima Loco. Which could all be improved greatly by Removing Molded Detail, like you have just Done. I was Amazed with the New & Improved look, with just a Few Hours Detailling Thrown at them. Thanks for the Inspiration. Cheers All from Oz. Aka. Downunder land. 🦘🐪🦘🦜🦘🦎🦘
I'm enjoying watching this one again, I watched when it was released but your videos have a lovely relaxed style to them so I tend to rewatch them often. Definitely a nice local show to visit next year, I'm finding that I enjoy the smaller shows more these days, especially shows at heritage railways - that's a trend I'm very happy to support. Hope you and yours are well, all the best and thanks for sharing your hobby.
It's great to see you've made another video. Im also using your layout as a basis to a layout. Its been a long time. I am changing to 00 as i previously did N gauge, and that's been sat in the loft space for over 23 years.😊
Great video fantastic value loco you bought and with your detailing you made it look so good and easy to do. the prototype video was really good with its variety of freight stock it was pulling round. i loved the powdered weathering you did too it gives it a very subtle blend of shades. by the way my favourite piece of rolling stock whether in model form or prototype is that larger or longer brake van that we saw in the video. Thank you for showing us your outstanding modelling advice and help with improving our own model railway stock collecting and servicing etc etc. It revitalised my own interest railway modelling that comes and goes but never ever fully leaves my fascination and interest. thank you so much.
I nice video showing the museum! I have yet to visit it since i live quite far away from our capital. Also that big nice diesel you were talking about was PKP class ST44 ,,Gagarin". Its esentialy a soviet M-62 locomotive with polish ,,bucket" headlights and safety systems. We imported over 1000 of them. Those locos were famous from their huge power and torque so big that they were laso known as ,,railgrinders". Althought they are old and not very fuel efficent it is still hard to find a locomotive so cheap and numerous yet so powerfull to pull freight across the country and thats why many many of them are still in service. One you saw is the number 001 and it was the first example of this locomotive in Poland and one that was tested by PKP and accepted into service. Quite recently they restored it althought its not in running condition from what i know.
I live 5 minutes away in Kingsthorpe and had no idea it was on or I would have attended, if there is another then more advertising from them would be welcome, I worked on the line in the 80,s and 90,s and organisation was not always perfect, we we're working on the Boughton extension then! I often view your videos and would have liked to have met you. Still I look forward to that in the future.
I've been looking on and off for some time for class 72xx steps to replace one I stupidly damaged. Thanks to you I now know where to get them. Great video, most informative. 😁👍
Great video and great little builds. Just a quick ine, what are they made out of? Looks like MDF or maybe hardboard? My layout is in a shed so wondering if they will cope with a little damp air in the winter.
Hi Tris, have just started watching this series and intend to create a similar layout in my shed. One question, what thickness of plyboard did you use? Cheers
Great video! I visited today and had a really good time. The brake van ride was outstanding because I got right up close to the engine and could see all the coupling movements as well.
