Nice video! Laser lights are not necessarily an alternative to halogen and LEDs. Usually (as far as I know in all cases) laser lights are used as high beams and I believe they activate over a certain speed, because of the really long beam they can produce.
Tesla does not want you to drill your bumper. I’ve had three Tesla MSP delivered in California, and Tesla delivers the car with a nice front plate bracket. In fact, you must remove the 3M attached front bracket if you want to put on a SnapPlate or Quick Bandit.
This is a good summary. Thank you. One relatively minor suggestion: Rivian has 4 vehicles they produce (not 2) and they have done so since 2022: R1S and R1T (as you mention) and the EDV 500 and 700. The latter two are commercial delivery vehicles, which they manufacture currently for Amazon. They are involved in development programs with other EDV customers and are delivering variants of these delivery vehicles now, with expectations to begin manufacturing and delivery of them in 2025.
Baby steps. Get auto lane change or parking working first. Also, a lot of sensors sounds good but no one has been able to robustly figure out the sensor fusion issue. Which sensor do you trust in different situations? They are just starting out but I wish them success.
Thank you for covering this. Stop claiming Rivian is “struggling with profitability” like all the other EV media who make that same bogus claim. Are they profitable yet? No. They put the first vehicle on the road in December of 2021. They will be profitable in December of 2024. Tesla couldn’t even come close to that. They put a car on the road in 2012 and didn’t become profitable until 2017 or 2018 after they finally released a new vehicle and were able to sell carbon credits (meaning it wasn’t even just their cars that got them to profitable). Rivian is a startup in the auto industry that will be profitable on their halo product. Think about that. It takes 7-10 years for most businesses to hit sustainable revenue. This is not struggling for profitability, but rather the normal cycle for the vast majority of businesses. Want proof? Go look at how long it took Facebook, Google, Tesla, or any other more recent businesses to hit profitability historically. The problem is we report on financials by quarter, but businesses run on five and ten year cycles. Be one of the first channels that actually understands and reports on this accurately because you include the valid context needed.
Also Tesla was always GROSS profitable on their “halo” car - the Model S. Rivian are struggling with GROSS profitability which is a lot different (WORSE) than Tesla who didn’t struggle with Gross Profits, but Net Profits. You need to work on your financial literacy before writing long misleading paragraphs like this!
The misinformation in this video is mind-boggling. Rivian losing $30k/vehicle? That's clearly wrong. In 1Q24, Rivian's loss per vehicle was over $100,000. As proof... in 1Q24, Rivian lost $1.4 bill. Rivian sold 13,588 vehicles. Rivian's GAAP loss was $103,032 per vehicle. In 4Q23, Rivian's gaap loss was $107.4k/vehicle. Rivian's situaion is beyond dire. Rivian needs to sell its cars for around $200k+ just to break even on a gaap basis. Almost impossible. Rivian's inability to reduce its massive losses is why Rivian is headed for certain bankruptcy
Bro what? Where are you getting these numbers? It’s been confirmed from Rivian that they lose about 32k per vehicle. Now when they first started shipping, yes that number was closer to 100k. But this number is expected to come down now that the refresh models have started shipping.

Thanks for the great solution. I was able to adapt it slightly by using a wing nut that sells as part of a toggle bolt. It’s not the firmest fit but good enough and only cost $5 for the parts from the local hardware store

I have the Fanttik X8 Apex air pump and LOVE IT. It's so nice, my wife gave it to her sister. So I bought a new one. And then I got one for her car and one for my brother. Really great air pump. Sturdy, super easy to use, reasonably quiet. Highly recommended.
So......if everything goes well, and the company survives the competition, you might be able to buy the R2 SUV in 2026-27, built in the boondocks of GA.......
Too vas the company has not made any more but have accumulated dept every year and are sitting at -19billion , you have to wonder when how this will end for owners and investors.
Ryan, you are brave, optimistic and have deep pockets. As a 15 year old in 1979, when McDonalds opened in my town I wouldn’t go there for the first month because I figured they didn’t know how to make hamburgers yet at that location. As a contractor, my guess is Rivian will find out that mobile service is far too expensive to sustain. Rivian’s stock has driven off a cliff in 2024, and off course other than Tesla and Toyota’s hybrid, non ICE vehicles are experiencing extreme head winds.
OTA and mobile service (Tesla Rangers for me) are the way to go. Much cheaper than Lexus door to door vehicle swapping and less cost and hassle for the consumer. Dealers are a way of the past. You can have a small service team in every mid-size to major city with mechanical, electrical and body adjustment expertise.
To make a long story short, it's great to drive, as l,ong as you stay in the city with it, because it is a nightmare to charge it on road trips, and it takes 2 months, or longer to get a service appointment, 50 miles from where you live. That's a big no for me. I am shocked anyone buys them, and you only pay $100k for it. I would not want one if someone gave it to me.
