Welcome to the WA:UK channel,

Sharing vLogs and short videos of my Passion - The Great OutDoors!

Here at WAUK we love everything associated with the more rural parts of this beautiful island we live on, weather it be exploring in the hills or an ancient woodland, spending the night under the stars or practicing newly learned skills, come with us on this journey and maybe we can teach each other a skill or two.

Always be safe do not take any risks when you're alone in the wilds!

No matter how many laws are enacted criminals will still break them since that is what makes them criminals also take into consideration that criminals choose to live at the margins of society since they consider their gangs as their family and live with the mentality that it is illegal if I get caught with whatever I am carrying be it any weapon, drug or money from illicit proceeds 🤷🏻‍♂️

Knife laws and Gun laws are stupid. You can buy knives and Guns. If you know where to obtain. And the criminal element will not cooperate with the law . ???? So laws are as stupid as the people who make the laws 😮😮😮

You can also make trench candles. Roll up newspaper tightly into a pencil thickness or less. Tie a string around the center and submerge into melted wax. I've never tested with a ferro rod but they're great cheap fire extenders for bad weather.

One thing that I like about knives is that you can collect unique knives like there's one knife that I would like to get from Grimfrost that has silver and antler handle, I also like the Tibetan knives with the handle made out of silver and gold with turquoise and coral inbeded in the handle, I would consider them as treasures.

I like natural fatwood. Where i live there are no pine trees to get it from but my local Walmart sales a 2 or 3 lb bag of fatwood in the grilling section for $6 US. Also i really like that ferro rod. The biggest problems with most ferro rods they come with a small handle or no handle. I buy the 6×1/2 just for the simple fact i can put a large handle on it and still have alot to strike.

Say one has a Gerber Strongarm or an SRK knife, which I find are good multi-purpose all-rounder knifes; and he/she keeps it inside the bergen while walking or being on a train to a hiking/camping location (not on the belt, not on the person). As long as it is inside the backpack while you're en-route, and you are clearly going on a hiking trip (evident by clothing and gear) - that's a "valid reason", no??? On a separate note, the knife laws in the UK are a complete failure. Official statistic: most stabbings in the UK take place using the cheapest possible kitchen knives that cost less than £1, and not premium crafted bushcraft or survival knives.
@WildernessAdventuresUK

Firstly, yes that would be the correct way to transport it, and yes a valid reason.. but honestly, it depends in the Bobby if you got stopped.. Agree totally with your second statement!

That could of been cheap pads or a light breeze blowing the aroma/repellent away from him. If there's a breeze you want it blowing the repellent into you/your area. Or if using a tarp you want your tarp set so when your behind it you can't feel the breeze/wind and hang it on your tarp so the repellent stays around you . Or get in your tent and put it on its lowest setting it's totally safe as you can buy plug in similar gadgets for at home as it goes into a UK plug socket 😉💪👌

Quite interesting comparison, thanks for showing. I'm living in Northern Germany and don't have access to natural fatwood and didn't want to buy it from the U.S. either, so I made waxwood at home - it works really well. From my experience I can tell you that you had your lucky day - if wax is smoking and turns dark, it's just a hair away from self-ignition. Your stove was way too hot. Just like you I guess, the bubbles indicate moisture in the wood, which is boiled out - but that means, to the end the wood is filled with steam, not with wax. In order to draw a significant amount of wax into the wood, you have to remove your tray from the fire and let it cool down a bit, using a weight to keep the wood submerged. Afterwards I heated the waxwood with a heatgun and melted the excess wax. To save as much space as possible, I 'boiled' some small pencils in wax too for my Altoids-type mini survival kits. Using a pencil sharpener to create nice even shavings, they work like a charm, a pile like yours burning for more than a minute.
