Welcome to my youtube channel! I am Cassaundra (The Tailorette). I make Historical costumes and sell them on Etsy for a living and love to create tasteful garments.
Here you will find my journey as a seamstress from how I create to simply my life in my studio. I like to say that I am a historical costumer, but I mainly create for the artwork, not necessarily for the accuracy. However, I do see that historical records do help with creating a garment that looks unique and in its right place. My main goal is create beautiful pieces of clothing that reflect certain eras, but that may include some elements of inaccurate techniques to create a certain look. In general, I mainly stick with historical silhouettes and add my own flare if need be. I'm all about no limitations!
Feel free to make yourself and home, I would love to have you apart of my community!
Love the very detailed and practical advice about time management + process ! Your advice about marketing is amazing as well. I 've had an online business for 5 years ( I used to be a life coach) so I know how easy it is to just ask yourself every morning ' Hummmm, what am I feel like doing today ?' but this is the worst thing to do ! It tooks me a long time to realize I was treating my business like a hobby... Thank you so much 😊
This is great advice. I do something very similar with my patterns. Instead of using tissue paper and tracing from the top (which is the very best way if you plan on selling the pattern in the future) I use packing paper and use a sharpie pen; It will bleed through the pattern tissue. Then I tape where I use pins to prevent tearing the pattern I've traced.
My mother was a talented seamstress. When I was young I had zero interest in learning to sew. I cannot convey how sad that makes me now that I'm older and wish I could make beautiful clothes like you 😢
the best part of separate pockets is they don't weigh your outfit down. i have begun making my own clothes and always include pockets, but these phones are heavy!!
When I first saw your videos, the most striking difference I’ve noticed about your style versus others on this platform is your choice of fabrics and colors! Well done!
Hello, I’m really interested in fashion and sewing dresses and would like to become a good dress designer. How did you learn it? Did you go to a fashion school ? Or joined a program. I would love to know. Thank you
